Actually, i honestly do. It's a cold sensation.... followed by absolutely nothing. I've "died" if you'd like to call it that twice, from seizures.

I'd be glad if you would show any evidence for your outrageous claims.

What is it like after death?

    In theory:

When you die, your brain is no longer functional -- therefore you are no conscience of anything. You don't experience "nothing," but you simply do not experience anything.

Of course there are people who essentially dream of an "afterlife" a split second before their brain goes functional, and if they are brought back, tell stories of the so called "afterlife."

The truth is your brain is capable of many great things, there is no reason why you wouldn't dream of heaven or hell.

    It's called a theory.

I don't see you demanding evidence from someone who says nothing happens after death.

Theory requires falsifiability and therefore testable predictions.

Until you can provide such, its not a theory.

Well the it's the naive default position. (I mean in the scientific sense.)

When the burden of proof is on one side, the other side is the naive position by definition. That is: the position one would take if one had no information above and beyond the information one currently has.

So an example of a naive position 2000 years prior would be that: "the earth is flat". If you come along and claim that the earth is a cube, then the burden of proof is on you, because given current information such seems not to be the case, and there isn't any evidence to suggest otherwise.

Returning to the subject of death. One would assume, unless other information became available, that the null brain-scans of a dead man are conclusive proof he lacks living consciousness. And until you can provide a means by which to test the rather fantastic theory of "consciousness transfer" ... into a hypothetical second plane of existence of all things ... it is perfectly reasonable to maintain the naive or default position.

Why would the presence of a body imply that there was some sort of supernatural occurrence after death?

I see no logic in that statement.

What is it like after death?

What you claim has nothing to do with science. A theory is by definition a scientific conclusion about something based upon facts. What you claim is not at all a theory because it's not scientific. It can neither be proven wrong (not falsifiable) nor is it based off of any observations or facts. The burden of proof lies with the one making the claim. So try to prove your claims and we'll see where we go from there.

Claiming that nothing happens however, is scientific. When people say "nothing" happens, they mean that the brain ceases to function. Since consciousness is a product of the brain, one might well say that your consciousness is gone, too. With your consciousness gone, you don't experience anything. The topic says "what is it like after death", but it's not "like" anything as your brain (or lack thereof) doesn't make it "like" anything.

Try to imagine what it was "like" before you were born and that's what it's "like" when you die, although such a feat is impossible...

The brain dies from lack of oxygen and then nothing happens. If you're lucky you'll get a DMT trip, but that's it.

Nothing... you no longer exist. Would never want to be reborn as anything nor go to some "heaven" which I believe does not exist or hell whatever.

There's no proof of really anything. I grew up learning the catholic religion although I don't believe any of it simply because I trust more in facts and physical things that I am able to touch and feel rather than faith. A lot of priests can't answer unproved questions. They justify the question "How do you know?" with "because I believe." What are they actually believing? They have not had any physical proof of anything they are believing in, they just believe it.

I guess you'll have to just go with what you believe in rather than questioning something that can not be proved because everyone will only be able to tell you their theory and not all with be the absolute truth. Keep your mind open and just wait and see for yourself :)

The only logical explanation would be nothingness. You would simply cease to exist, and it is so hard to explain as the human brain simply cannot imagine such a thing.
I like to fool myself into thinking reincarnation exists, but I fear that it does not and the ultimate outcome will be the end of my conciousness, I will no longer exist, at all in any way, shape or form.

"We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively outnumbers the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?" (Dawkins).

I'm Agnostic, but honestly, I think there's such thing as a purgatory, not for heaven or hell, but just a waiting place until all of mankind is whipped out, I really don't know..
