South Park: Freedom Of Speech

Now I personally think it is a shame that Muslims feel as if their religious deity is greater than that of any other religion as to the point where they're willing to kill someone. I completely stand on the side of the South Park creators in the sense that people shouldn't be intimidated or hold their tounges to ridiculous terroristic threats.

But what do you think about the situation? Do you think we everyone should bite down and not talk about/portray certain people or should free speech be expressed?

In Ireland you can say what you want as long as it doesn't undermine "public order or morality or the authority of the State." Publication of "blasphemous, seditious, or indecent matter" is also illegal in Ireland.

So your right to free speech is actually quite limited.

No, I can say anything I want whenever wherever I want. No one can stop me or anyone else from doing so. They can throw you in jail after you said it but what was said was said and they couldn't stop you. The only thing can stop you from saying something is yourself, only your own fear can stop you, but if you overcome that then you can say anything you want. Imagine if millions of people all said something, are they going to throw millions of people in jail? This is just like when everyone is going 10 over the speed limit, everyone is breaking the law but they just can't give everyone speeding tickets.

 

Never stopped me before. And since we're discussing the free speech via a tv show, I was talking about it in that context.

 

I see all the "yeh free speech" But on the other hand both sides have the option of free speech some just put it further into action then just all talk.

Well, if you look at it from a religious view they are set in with everyone else, namely Catholics.

You seem to have a lot of hatred for the government, but you seem to do nothing to change it. Mind to explain, in english?

 

You are only complaining, not actually doing anything to help the "cause". If you were doing something, then it would be done in for the form of protests and riots, stuff that actually gets their attention, not posting on a runescape cheating website.

Also, i don't see what the point in a virtual community of the sorts that you have so made up, as it doesn't do anything towards the cause except possibly represent the land that we dwell on. But this resorts back to my first point, complaining about it does nothing, especially on a runescape cheating website. Yes, im aware that protesting and rioting are complaining, but its more effective when you hurt the masses instead of 14 year old's.

As for the virtual society, the simple thing to do is form a revolt, as long as others feel the same way you do. Either that or kill yourself. If you don't have the power to make a difference, then you might as well not be there. Just because you're forbidden to do something, doesn't mean you can't do it.
