Donation Via Other Methods [Not Paypal]

There should be more different payment methods, like Ultimate Game Cards, or Wallie Cards. I know they might be a difficult to set-up, though it will increase the amount of donations to this forum. i know this other forum that I have been with, and if you wanted to purchase Premium or V.I.P or w/e, you can through Wallie Cards, Ultimate Game Cards. Also another method of Donation could be via SMS.

What could would donations via UGC do? Sythe isn't going to make money by playing RuneScape.

 

Weren't you used to be able to donate RS mills? Did that end with the trade update?

 

More members are coming my way for assistance so I'm all for something easier..

When it comes to donations, I really don't see the issue with using PayPal Gift? You can always take away their donation perks if the funds are pulled back. Matt?

This makes sense to me. If they were to reverse the payment, then they lose their donor benefits: no one wins and no one loses. Relatively risk free method, and I bet you would recieve 10x the amount of donations by allowing paypal.

 

Tell you what I'd be more than willing to do to support Sythe.

If trusted for this responsibility, I'd be willing to accept donations for Sythe through my business PayPal if Matt and I could agree on some very simple rules/terms. In the event a member's funds are pulled back for any reason, the funds are returned to me? I do not see this as a big issue and I do feel there would be a big increase if PayPal Gift was an option. Not looking for Mod title so please do not flame this offer.. Lastly, fee would be only what is required on PayPal's part which should be very minimal. My opinion, a donation should not have excessive fees.

Perhaps, although I really feel there would be limited issues with members pulling back a donation. I think it really comes down to how Matt feels about it. I think between him and I there could be a push of all donations once a week to Matt via whatever payment method works for him. This is not something I would want to try and work each day.

PayPal donations were already officially sponsored(TJ), and Matthew cut that off. Sorry to say, but I think Matthew would much rather have TJ run it than you. You're still allowed to do what you're doing(taking PayPal and mailing it in for people), though.

 

It all does sound good and well but I remember Matthew justifying the issue of PayPal donations by the large number of chargebacks and the hassles that it creates. People kept charging back and the situation just got out of hand and it just got to the point where they thought it was pointless and discontinued it altogether.

What if someone donates $200, therefore becoming trusted. He builds trust within 2 weeks with small trades and then goes on a scamming spree and gets banned.

Then, he recovers the money.

What do you do?

 

How about PayPal Gift donations open to only those with a set period of time with Sythe and/or posts? Maybe this would get TJ back into the process to assist Matt?

 

No, he was maybe 6 months ago. That was shut down and he's just recently opened up again(HE'S NOT OFFICIALLY SPONSORED BY SYTHE THIS TIME)

Even gifts can be recovered. See above, TJ has opened up again, he's just not officially sponsored this time around.

 

That may work, but a set period of time and post must be implemented harshly. 1 year and 625+ posts seems fair enough.
