[denied] Sythe gold sink ideas - not disruptive or advantageous to market

Hey yes its another sythe gold suggestion but i think it might be worth brainstorming some sythe gold sinks other than the already suggested uses that are disruptive to markets or give market advantages like early bumps / stickied threads / bold titles etc.

Sythe gold price is currently inflating like crazy its around half the price it was a year ago if im not mistaken.

• Maybe something like 100k sythe gold can be exchanged for a sythe gold minirank and 1m sythe gold for a sythe gold funrank? This requires no dev work and could just be carried out by staff. Just send your sythe gold to a designated burner account and have the staff add the mini/fun rank

• Something like a sythe gold lottery where 1k tokens = 1 ticket could also be a sink if it takes a rake? This will require some dev work (or done through discord), could be good for community interaction

Yes this would see some users' sythe gold appreciate in value but we've always anticipated a usage for sythe gold anyways, so its not too unfair

I would love to see custom ranks made

Like it can be mini ranks or the ones we have like our donation ranks, but things that are one of a kind so unique and cannot be traded

My only issue with Sythe gold is people with auto bumpers. You do nothing and would have these miniranks in no time. On the flip slide, maybe it will promote forum activity, and for that reason alone, I support it.

 

youd need to autobump 10 threads every 4 hours every day for 45 years straight to get 1m sythe gold.

 

We could also maybe have it so autobumping doesn't equal SG

I mean, that would be an easier way (maybe a hard fix) to make sure people are not taking advantage. If I remember rightly, and could be wrong by all means you have to be online to autobump, I still see plenty who are not like that and do not offer 24/7 coverage so essentially market manipulation

I do not disagree with you. I was pointing out that auto bumpers farm Sythe gold. I support your post that there needs to be something done with the SG.

 

making autobumping not generate sythe gold is going to be a tremendously arduous task

either way, people have been bumping for years and generated some sythe gold from that, theres millions already in circulation. real post numbers have been dwindling as well, so its not worth making autobumping not generate sythe gold given the ratio of sythe gold already in circulation compared to future sythe gold generated only from real posts

 

I like the suggestion. However, I would be more concerned that if upon approval, how long would it take to implement? There has been a lot of suggestions / talks of rework on SG for years now.

Maybe @Sythe or @Matthew could shine some light on their future plans for it if any?

Maybe we can have specific miniranks that can only be bought via Sythe gold while the rest are only obtained in events etc.

 

They could be made untradable. Either way, i think taking 1m sythe gold out of circulation goes a lot further than adding a funrank does. Or 100k for a minirank
