Why his Jagex appealing to new players?

I have noticed a trend recently that Jagex seems to be updating more for their newer, non-paying players, instead of their pay-to-play veteran members. Updates such as this new Hitpoints update, the massive amounts of guides they have given to Lumbridge, new shop GUI, etc. But the question is, why would they pay more attention to the little bored 11 year olds that got linked the game from a different website and probably only play for a few days before they get bored, over their more experienced, older players?

Actually, if it wasn't for the hardships, the lack of guides, the lack of free items, and the actual need to learn about the game as you play, it would have been excruciatingly boring and I would have quit in the first two minutes. So why would they do this? Are they actually trying to kill their game?

They need new players.
New players are 11, and easily confused.
Low-level 11-year-olds are 50% of their users.
So, by putting out easy updates that appeal to idiots, they can satisfy a large number of their players easily.

 

The amount of paying players is probably decreasing due to various updates so if they make it appear better than it really is, they can get loads more free players that may update to members. Lose 50 old members, gain 200 free and 70 new members

Jagex economy
70% dumb
25% smart
5% useless people

 

Because Jagex already knows that the "veterans" are all already members and they want to attract those 11-year olds kids to come play their game. If they like (which they do), they'll beg their parents to get them membership.

It's all about them making money, even if it means taking advantage of the 10-11 year old kids for it.

 

People grow older, they leave the game, and Jagex needs to attract new people. Also, they need the learning curve to be much less step - although it's not very steep at all.

 

You all have to remember: You were once eleven and playing this game, why did you stay?

The very updates they have made to get new players are the exact same updates that will make them leave sooner. As I already stated, I would not have played for all those years if everything was given to me. It was a challenging game, and that is what I wanted back then. Wouldn't Jagex think the same now?

People complain that there's hardly anything to do on f2p worlds. I kinda agree. But they should put more effort in for the members.

 

Everyone seems to forget that RuneScape, in its basic form, is a business.

new players = new members = more money. Its called a profit motive, and they disguise it well.

because they know that theyve already got us paying members hooked so now they need to get others involved, no doubt the new skill will be good for the first 30 levels and then terrible for the rest just to get more membership sales
