Popular thread is popular. I'm sure your story relates to a lot of people, and it's really kind of unfortunate that RS can be that addicting; like a drug. Though, EVERYBODY comes to their senses one day, and will, just like you, quit.

Man this is like a flash back of when I was hardcore rs addict.

Now I just help my brothers little mates and sell stocked accounts. (Only botting as I learning Java to test my new found knowledge)

Nearlly 100% relfection of my past couple years.

    +1

I got addicted to runescape in a way. My friends and I all started playing in 7th grade and it was the feeling of knowing I had better stats than them was what got me no-lifing.

Stay away from the coke, and especially the crack man. X is alright but I heard it can change your personality and stuff. You're better off robotripping than doing coke unless you're using triple c to robotrip. Idk much about lsd other than too much of it can cause mental illness. Weed and shrooms are fine though. You should start playing runescape if you start using drugs everyday to get it off your mind cuz next thing you know, you're dependent and can't quit.

I used to be an all out runescape addict from 7th grade to 9th grade. I got perm muted right when 8th grade started because I said Google in rs and it was my first offense ever and they perm muted me. lol I cried but got over it and still played the game without being able to communicate with others, which was a pain in the ass. Then by 10th grade I got unmuted because after I quit rs in 9th grade I found out that Jagex was giving extra appeals, so I tried the appeal and it worked. I played rs for a month unmuted, then I quit because Jagex ruined the game by then and it wasn't like runescape used to be. I just play WoW now but not really addicted to it compared to the way I was addicted to runescape.

It happens to the best of us I suppose. But I never really lost my friends, I always had a girlfriend and I was always on a sports team and had friends. Idk, I played RS a lot but I never picked RS over my friends.

It's weird. I've never really thought about RuneScape fucking with my real life, but now that I think about it, it really has lol.

I started in 4th grade, and all of my friends played. (At recess, we would set up RuneScape meetings and we would meet and put together plans for the week :D.) I sucked at RS, but I thought it was awesome so I just kept playing with all my friends.

In 5th grade we all still played, there were about 20 of us and we'd lost about 4 last year. It was still awesome, I had my first real account, I got full black and like 9k and I was completely obssessed.

That year was good, but in 6th grade the remaining 16 of us mostly left the game and it was down to about 4 of us, we all played in secret, but this was the year when I started getting really good at the game. My friend was like my mentor and he taught me the REAL basics and I got a hold of the game. By the end of the year it was him and I, and the two others going on and off, mostly doing other things instead of RuneScape. This was also the year when I got into RSMV's and became even more addictted to RuneScape.

7th grade was where it really started to effect my real life. I started hanging out with friends more, and usually when we hungout we'd play RS, but now we were all playing xbox when really I wanted to play RS. I tried to get them back but it was an in-the-moment thing... They never continued playing. My final friend was headed into the darker parts of RS, and that's how I found Sythe, he botted and traded and scammed and did all of the blackmarket stuff. I was really weary at first but I eventually got into it. I remember being invited to friends houses and turning them down because I was on RS or getting ready to go on, it was horrible.

In 8th grade the friend who had taught me everything had fallen behind me in the RuneScape world and I started to make better friends on RuneScape. He ended up quitting for another game with a different friend. I blew them off a lot to play RuneScape and I really got into RSMV's and uploaded a lot of videos. My grades dropped drastically in school because all I wanted to do was play RS. :s

This is my current grade, and I've really eased up on RuneScape and found a way to balance real life and the game. I really only play to make videos now, getting a skill from like 75-80 would take probably a month for me, I just don't have the time anymore. None of my friends currently play, but I've started hanging out with some old RS friends since I got an xbox.

In the future I hope to have more time for RS, so I can get a few more 99's and give myself a name before I quit. (If ever.) Tbh, I see myself playing this game at 60 years old, it's one of the things I've just come to learn and enjoy, making RSMV's is my escape from real life and problems I'm having... The lyrics and the way I portray them helps me deal.

Anyways, I know this was WAYY too long, but I really enjoyed typing it and I hope you guys enjoy reading it because I've enojyed your stories. :p

Runescape, creating virgins since 2001. Everyone has a similar story to this one. Runescape does ruin your life, a lot of people can't stop playing it. Some people actually dropped out for it o.o, one kid actually sued Jagex and got 10 grand because he dropped out for it. I never went as far as to lose all my friends over it, but I did play it a lot and become less social. When I first started it wasn't that bad (started in 2003) but in late 2004 I started becoming addicted and spending less time outside with my friends. In 2005 my account got permanently banned and untill mid 2006 picked back up right off from where I started. I eventually broke my addiction in 2008 after the wilderness got taken out.

I began to play in the 6th grade around 2004. My neighbor was lvl 50 when i started, and also at school about 4 of us. Let's see, when i began i was a noob and i actually boasted i had obtained 20k gold, lol. Runescape never really affected my school life, but i played ridicously long hours- ridicously.

I eventually caught up to my friends stats in about 4 days, and my first ever accout glider81, was hacked in 2006, Via Sythe. So i quit and then came back a couple months later to create a pure with my friend.

We created twins and the drastic change of my life happened when i examined what was under a pink skirt in draynor village- a red phat. No one believed me that i found it, but i have screen shots, and everybody thought that i hacked it, except my friend. So then i created my new main, that i currently use. I spent every cent of my cash at that time i sold it for 180m.

I quit and then 1 year ago my friend began to re-play telling me about all these wonderful updates, no wildy of course. I began to play again, but now i mostly skill.

I see myself playing runescape for a loong time, i love it's simplicity and the amount of patience and dedication one has to have to play this game. Also i want to fully max my account, so it seems like i didn't waste my time..
    lol, i currently play. :D
My life isn't completley taken over by this game, you just have to organize your time, so it doesn't consume you.

I have always been able to moderate my play time, but I know that not everyone has this capability. I do not usually plAy Runescape-maybe three hours a week.

Interesting, I never had a serious addiction to any games, they just fell short after a few hours of playing them. Of course, RS is one of the games that kept me playing for years, but I've never spent more than 8 hours playing it (4-5 hours continuously) a day. Sure it did have me thinking about it sometimes in school, but I continued to have the same friends and the classes that I felt RS was only a small part of my leisure time in which I can just direct some focus from my life to it in order to just let go.

I've quit and rejoined runescape like 5-9 times... now its not as bad as it use to be.

Never really lost a lot of friends, always kept it a secret. Whenever we are doing something, I will never blow it off for runescape or anything... but still, I'd always much prefer a quiet night at home playing online then going out... strange.
