in how many minutes can you solve a rubiks cube?

If you are talking about the 3x3, you're completely BULLSHITTING.

Claim PROVEN not to be valid:
    http://www.worldrecordsacademy.org/...world_record_set_by_Eric_Akkersdijk_80307.htm

If the world record is 7.08 seconds, how do you, probably just another regular guy, solve it in 4.87?

Ok, ask for the topic? It's not worded correctly. There are so many different Rubik's Cubes out there with variable number of sides.

    For example:

    4 by 4.

    5 by 5.

My personal record for the 3 by 3 (3 x 3) is 30 seconds [even though I screwed up an entire step which forced me to start over that time].

Depending very heavily on the "stickiness" of the cube, about a minute thirty seconds on a 3x3x3. About 30 seconds for a 2x2x2.

You're an idiot, seeing as how the record is a little over seven seconds. Either prove your lowest almost halved that, or gtfo.

I'm fairly sure he was talking about the 3x3x3 when he made the post. :p

Then what's the point? That's like buying a jigsaw puzzle, and printing out a cheatsheet to show you were all the pieces go...

The fun isn't in solving a rubiks cube as fast as you can, it's seeing a colored tile, and working to get it in the right spot. It's the experience of a challenging puzzle that makes rubiks cubes so popular.

Without being a cheating bastard, I can solve them in, collectively, 4 or 5 hours.

But once you can solve them, it's not as much of a challenge to just get the cubes "in the right spots."

In order to keep the hobby engaging, you have to start speedcubing, otherwise it gets boring.

You're basically describing what happens when you look up tutorials on how to solve them.

Once you learn how by being told, it gets boring so you try to speedsolve or speedcube, or whatever you want to call it. You may resort to doing it fast whether you figured it out on your own or not, but at least if you DO figure it out by yourself, it takes you longer, and gives you something more to work at.

But if you just mix it up and go, without worrying about solving it, it's always engaging because it's never the same. It's never up-clockwise, left-counterclockwise, up-clockwise, right-counterclockwise, up-clockwise, left-counterclockwise, now I have a green cross, IM ALMOST DUN!!!

As a side note, nothing is wrong with "speedcubing", but my point is: it's dumb to go have someone else tell you how to do it. How much respect do you think Da Vinci would get if his inventions and paintings were done after he read a step-by-step tutorial? Do you think Einstein would be as famous if he created his equations after reading Relativity 101?
