[denied] Require actual service quotes for services

Apperantly currently spam posts such as these are still allowed:



Whereas others post actual price quotes for services, some people are saying how much per hour/day they are working for. In my opinion this behavior is rather lazy and one of the reasons this rule was implemented: to prevent plain copy/paste spams such as these.

In my opinion those quotes should actually contain a proper direct quote in regards to the service being requested, not a plain text they use for all posts. I get that those putting actual prices also just copy/paste the same text, but atleast the addition of a price in regards to the actual service proves they've read the thread.

 

Not sure where I stand on this but my promary thoughts are: requiring flat quotes infringes the negotiation process

 

If I am not mistaken, I quoted something asking a question on a thread and had my comment deleted with the following "Your post in the thread Big Order Needed was deleted. Reason: Need to either have a quote or ask a specific question" now I could be wrong by saying so but I am pretty sure any time i don't comment an actual price is because I need more information such as if there are more ways of training

people need to remember that we do our best to quote as best as we can although there are 100000 vennies for 1 of us

I would prefer to get rid of the rule entirely. Most market users don't understand why it's there in the first place (as you said, to prevent copy/paste spam) and get annoyed when we enforce it. I would rather focus mods' attention on the spastic users copy/paste-spamming than on people just trying to communicate like they would on any other forum online.

 

Cant agree more with you, time ago i got a warm for not posting a quote, but i was just trying to communicate with the user, mods should keep all the attention on the copy/paste users.

some people have the copy and paste thing as it's their base price argument I get that, but it's lengthy and annoying

 

-Sythe is and should be primarily used for listing jobs/products when it comes to market activity
-Discord is then used for negotiation

It would be old-fashioned and unnecessary to push people to list prices and negotiate on the website IMO. Pre-discord, I'd agree with the suggestion. Now, I think not.

 

Buyer knows who is interested / eager for work and can do some digging on them (check their reputation, compatibility etc.) If it's a match, they can contact the party on Discord.

I'd change the rule like this by the way: IF the customer specifically requests for prices to be listed on his threads, then its mandatory. Otherwise not so much

 

Fair point, but maybe they're looking for something specific, like smaller providers who aren't always on top pages

 

I do support this, people are just lazy if they dont have the time to quote customer properly.

I count this kind of "quoting" as spam tbh. Even when I have posted an request thread and stated specifically twice or triple times that I want proper quote for each task, and still getting quoted with these stupid automatic copy-paste replies.

Atleast they should state in some warranty of how much they would get done in the time they ask their payment for.

Sounds stupid to pay, lets say $20 for someone, to get me Woodcutting done, for 8 hours. Might sound simple, but other people would get 500k exp in the 8 hour play time, and some people would get only 100k exp. well now you see the difference. That is a big issue for the customers of the mentors that provide this kind of services.

Would you rather pay the $20 to the guy who gets only 100k exp, or the guy who gets the 500k exp? Both are offering the same service for the same price. Playing for 8 hrs for the price of $20. You just dont know how much they gonna end up gaining in the period of 8 hours untill they are done. Feels like a buying an lottery ticket when placing an order like that.

If i posted a thread requesting prices and someone replied with contact me in discord i would just ignore them flat out.

 

Agree with you, also feel like getting prices is a lot of trouble, joining lots of discord servers to get prices and shopping around can take hours easy
