Post pictures, i'd like to see what you did. I always wanted to restart eliteswitch with darthatron. I attempted to edit it, but coveys coding was all over the place I didn't know where to start lol.

If you are going to attempt to re-write then you're lucky enough to be told that it will be very hard as VB6 isn't supposedly funtioning in Windows 7 so you're pretty stuffed. What i've done is started from scratch, learned bits of code from Covey's client (which is very similar to VB.Net, there are only a few differences but they can be very frustrating) and just used his client as a guideline. It's been going well but i've got to the hard parts now where I have to implement all the functions (IRC being the biggest pain the arse.. as always) and of course make sure they all work the same as they did in Covey's version!! :)

I'l post screenshots later when i've re-uploaded another version with more bug fixes.

If you're trying to port code and you can't figure out how to do it in one language, find out what said code does and Google it, or search for it on MSDN. It saves a lot of time simply looking for answers than trying to make your own; As the old saying goes, "why reinvent the wheel?"

IRC is actually not that hard to implement, I'm sure there are already classes out there to cater for it, however the hardest part about implementing IRC will be writing the code to handle the protocol, which Covey has likely already done unless he used an ActiveX control, so it wouldn't be that hard to port (you can still use COM objects in .Net anyway).

Personally I don't like porting other people's code and changing it though. Even though I said "Why reinvent the wheel", you become a better programmer writing your own code, what I said earlier was more or less so you can learn about what you need to do. If I put my mind to it, I could write a fully functional client with EliteSwitch's features and more in a day or two, but I see no point as I don't play RuneScape any more.

I'm using a lot of this as a learning scheme aswell as just trying to re-make a client. Copying has never been my tactic, so i'd rather use a guideline rather than copy something. RuneScape clients aren't really just about how good you can make it and how long it takes you. It can take a bit of commitment too. I'd rather spend a lot of time working on a client and know that i've done it all myself (which gives me a sense of accomplishment) rather than spend a day or two copying a lot of code, piling it into one program and releasing it. Which is why i'm sure Covey is happy with me re-making his client, because he knows i'm committed. I don't actually play RuneScape myself but I do stay in the RuneScape related communities such as here and cruels.

A lot of your functions are just for show...If I were you, I'd work on the interface later and concentrate on making things work.

    I'm onto that now :)

Autoers are nearing completion and bugs in the rest of the functions are holding them back.

That's when you remove them :p
It looks awful to have the IRC tab for example, then to have it say like "tab8" instead of it actually being an IRC client.

Been a long time since I last uploaded a newer version of the client. I'll give it until the end of the month and upload then. It wouldn't be practical to upload everytime I get a feature working.

Just to clarify, i am still working on this project. I know it is poor efforts as I originally planned to release this in February. College work has got on top of me and I haven't had any time whatsoever in the past few months to continue on it. However my exams are only a matter of weeks away so I am now looking at a start of summer release. I also started the client again from fresh 2 weeks ago when I were in my holidays so any images and plans that I have let out are not necessarily going to look like or be included in the client. Autoers is one i'm ruling out for the moment as it's a known fact that VB.Net is highly detectable whilst macroing. I am not giving away any of the features yet because I want to keep some of them a secret, for obvious reasons. The main reason is that I may not be able to accomplish them (in time), secondly others might accomplish them before me. The only thing that may not be appealing is the design, i'm not much of a designer so any design ideas are welcome.

Overall when it's all finished I promise it will be good.

Firstly, you know nothing, Eliteswitch was the original. it was classed as a third-party program and therefore bannable on runescape if used, it was changed to swiftswitch, which then became Swiftkit.

Also, You disgustingly ressurected this dead thread for no reason.

I'm sorry to tell you but your facts are also wrong. EliteSwitch was never affiliated with SwiftSwitch.

SwiftSwitch was first released as a world switching client, where Covey (The original creator of EliteSwitch) took it upon himself to make a similar client to aid with his pk'in adventures. Who then later made his client available to the public.

As time went by, Runescape introduced that world switching clients were against their TOS. As it gave an unfair advantage to other users.

As SwiftSwitch was affiliated with a well known fansite, they decided to remove the advantages of being able to switch worlds quickly. Resulting in EliteSwitch being the biggest known world switching client available.

Future updates of EliteSwitch were released, but after a few years Covey was unable to focus his time to developing V3 which is where EliteSwitch came to an end.

    The End.

I hope you enjoyed the little story.

This thread can be locked. It's really old and is pointlessly still floating around this forum. I haven't been working on it for the same reasons tbh. I haven't had time, I have a lot of commitments. It would however be a shame for me to just delete it into the recycle bin. There is a lot done on it so I will finish it off one week when I get some time.
