[Denied] Marketing team?

What do you guys think about having a marketing team? I am not talking about the PR team either (I am not sure what that even was.... and I was on it LOL) but a few dedicated individuals who work together on figuring out ways to bring in new members.

There should also be a budget for the Marketing team to spend on ads, sponsorships, etc. Everything would be approved of course before anything is purchased.

The goal behind the team will be to reach larger audiences, bring in new members, and keep the site alive lol.

 

No support. Sounds good in theory, but has just never worked in the past.

You can use different terminology, but a primary function of PR was to attract new users to Sythe by engagement, brand awareness, and advertisement on other websites and platforms. It failed, miserably.

Sythe has made it clear that he won't invest money into an advertising budget. Not only that, but there has always been a recognizable hesitancy around using social media platforms to promote a runescape website.

Again, I like and appreciate where your head is. Would love to see some top-down interest in driving new users to the site. Just don't ever see this happening, unfortunately. Regardless of what you call it, you're suggesting a revival of the PR team which has been requested and denied multiple times since the original PR disbanding.

 

i cry. without an advertising investment then it is doomed.

I can see the team being successful with dedicated members + money to work with.

 

I think the PR team failed for other reasons than that the initial idea wouldn’t work. So long as the owner of the site is active and caring I could see it going somewhere, but sadly Richard has his priorities laying somewhere else, as such I don’t support this idea.

 

Reading your comment about not knowing what you did, reading through old PR team threads, and last year's April Fools joke about bringing back the PR team makes me believe the PR team was one giant meme. Couple that with what Wortel said, it is not worth bringing back (nor is something similar), so for those reasons, no support.

In the past it did work. Even with a small reward, we were able to get over 150+ people to the site.
Having a sponsor was great! And really the only way we were able to get funds allocated to a PR event.

there could be in my opinion many other ways to get funded community events to bring in outsiders, but wortel summed it up short & sweet.

 

The best way to bring, not only new members but members in general, into the community is to stop allowing business to be ran entirely through Discord.

For example, services shops should be required to list prices on their threads here rather than going to their Discord and opening a ticket for prices.

Sythe is still the dominant market of RuneScape accounts and services and forcing vendors to engage more through the site rather than Discord won’t hurt the community.

Additionally, I would force users to conduct business through the community rather than on Discord. If someone gets scammed without conducting business on the site, then that is their loss. Nothing can be done. All business should be ran through Sythe.

Sythe used to be so much more active back in the day, but now is all bumps and thread templates that direct you to a vendors Discord.

 

bro... its not that complicated. we just need $ for the team to use towards actual marketing. If the money isn't provided then its not worth doing anything.

Honestly, I think he was genuine in saying he wants you to come up with an idea/ideas. You just said you want money, what would you do with the money? How would the money be allocated? Give him some ideas that you have…

In my opinion, it could work without the need of Sythes money. Do what CDT does and get sponsors. Figure out a way that they are happy giving you money.

 

I've given a few ideas already in separate threads and I know they could work. I was shot down each time though by people saying Sythe would never provide the funds for this.

Sure, I think we could find a sponsor but does anyone actually care about the site living/growing? Does Sythe even care? Is it even worth it?

 

It is up to Richard if he wants to put money into advertising this website. A marketing team isn't necessary.
