What is one thing you recently learned that you wish you knew your whole life?

For me? Take more risks.

Apply to that dream job, ask the pretty lady on a date, apply to be a Sythe Moderator. The worse that can happen is you are told no... apply to another dream job, start talking to someone new, wait a couple months and apply to be moderator again.

Everyday is a new opportunity to make yourself better.

 

Get to know new people.

Branch outside your comfort zone.

Take care of yourself.

 

You don't need other people in your life to be happy.

Be happy with your own company.

 

Do something you're passionate about. Don't change yourself just to be liked by other people.

 

You can NOT be friends with everyone, neither can you please them.

 

Learn to do things on your own, getting comfortable doing things by yourself will make you appreciate the small things in life more often. For example, I enjoy working out, going on a hike, visiting somewhere, by myself

 

Be thankful for everything you have, because many other people in the world don't have basic living necessities let alone access to the internet to give their opinion on something

 

School isn't the only way to be successful in life.
Create your own path.

 

You can be “right” and ineffective.
Being right was important before And I often made the mistake of hammering people with facts, opinions, examples, & conclusions until they conceded the point. I failed to grasp that in the process of proving myself right, I annoyed people & made the situation much worse. It’s better to focus on being productive. Focus on understanding the situation better or what it looks like from another person’s perspective. Remember that the end result is far more important than whoever is “right”. In today’s world, being “right” is usually a combination of many inputs.

 

Used to work 50-60 hours a week without paying to much attention to my personal life for years. Recently got a new job where I’m still making 40+ hours but take my time to enjoy life too.
