    ~The PMod Room - What REALLY goes on inside it?~

    LAST UPDATED - December 24th, 2009

    If you wish to view the actual PMod forums, use this link: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?p=5389247. Note that you cannot find all the information in the below in that rip as I did not the rip the entire forums, just the important stuff. To read the archive of what goes on in the PMod room, continue reading below.

    Love you Mod Poppy: http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/2307/poppy.png

    If you want to see the PMod forums in real time, go to this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hBoabzS1gk and skip to 7:48 OR watch the whole video as I'm certain you will find it interesting ;).

    *Please read the intro so you know what's going on.*

    Good day all.

    In case you don't already know, PMods have their own secret room accessed by talking to the lumbridge guide usually referred to as the "PMod Room". They have meetings known as "surgeries" in this room up to 4 times a day in world 81 and can only access it when a JMod opens the room. They may then talk to the lumbridge guide to get teleported into it.

    What is discussed in this room is completely confidential and hasn't been majorly leaked yet...until now.

    There is a thread on the PMod Forums (which we managed to gain unauthorized access to) called "Clarity: Surgery Minutes". In this thread PMods who attend mod meetings, or "surgeries", archive what was discussed for PMods who could not attend to view. I spent a good 10 minutes going through 30+ pages of the thread and copying and pasting every post made. The thread wasn't made to long ago (early June, 2009) so only what was discussed in surgeries after the thread was made in June is accessible.

    I copied and pasted everything from the entire thread without editing so you will constantly see signs of new posts such as "Last edited on 22-Aug-2009 12:51:37 by Louiellen". The only thing I did was add a fairly large gap whenever the next post was posted on a new page. I may edit out all that unnecessary info later, but then you won't know when a new post was made...

    INFORMATION RELATING TO MECHSCAPE BETA, CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION, AND RECENT EXPLOITS ARE DISCUSSED IN SURGERIES AND ARE THEREFOR CONTAINED IN THIS THREAD. THIS IS A MUST READ.

    Use CTRL+F and type keywords such as "mechscape" if you wish to see what was discussed about specific topics as this is a very long post.

    Anyways, enjoy reading.

    ~Svew and Champ7020

    Hi guys, Let's 'Clarify' the Surgeries;)

    Look at Quick find code: 8-9-396-58949571 for more details of The 'Clarity' Campaign:

    For your comments and suggestions, please use the above thread mentioned instead of here. As this thread is a historic compilation of Pmod surgery minutes. For those that are willing to volunteer for the 'Clarity Campaign' - your very much welcome to post on this thread the minutes of the surgery session you've attended.

    This thread, I hope may serve as a compilation - a historic record keeping tool for the surgeries. I hope you like it.

    So what are you waiting for? Be part of the team the takes notes of Pmod Procedural history;).

    Clarity Surgery Minutes: Localised Pmod Community Branch: Quick find code: 142-143-10-59935700.

    Clarity Surgery Minutes: Funorb Pmod Community Branch: Quick find code: 25-26-1-45950.

    Yes, we are breaking language and community barriers: Awesome Clarity as its very best.

    10th of June 2009: Australian Surgery: hosted by Mod Hohbein: (Credit goes to King_Runite1 for converting the raw transcript for this thread into summarised minutes).

    Q: Perhaps minutes should be done by the room itself
    A: Good idea possibly not feasible

    Q: Can someone have another look at 'Discouraging' n Procedures - some of our ideas which would have an impact on cybering and Crow brushed them off
    A: Ok.

    Q: Do we have to explain offensive names - 'iwannafk'
    A: No - we're human sometimes we miss stuff

    Q: Basically two issues atm - merch clans and cybering. Both the spam and the clans themselves. They're abusing the system
    A: On my choob I never saw the spam as an issue - the GE is covered in spam anyway. Merch clans or not it'll still be hard to advertise

    Q: When I muted every bot you could make sense - they run at a frantic pace
    A: Not actionable but interesting observation

    Q: On cyber, try going into a world and muting a body part name, then see how long before they log.
    A: Yeh I agree. If they log out because they're muted that's a good thing. Obviously we dont want everyone muting players they thought might be rulebreaking.

    Q: How long till tiering.
    A: Not sure - Paul's been away for 2 weeks - will check up on it.

    Q: What about a CC - use as a tiering tool?
    Why keep positing sign-ups - Comm Unity failed, needs to go back to drawingboard.
    A: Made a good go of it, but true could have worked better. And the problem ruined the whole point.

    Q: A cc has a problem with 20 similar accounts doing minor offensive language and use videos (breaks rule 9) to encourage people to spam it.
    A: Ok I'll investigate that and try take down the video.

    Q: Why is a fansite endorsed that has 3rd party software. Endorsing site endorses software? What about riots?
    A: We've not posted zybez due to keylogger risk. We aren't responsible for any content on a listed site. SwiftKit follows the guidelines - not a huge advantage, just makes stuff slightly easier.

    11th of June 2009 Australian Surgery: Hosted by Mod Hohbein:

    Pmod: Is it possible to return the previous behavior of the report abuse system?? That we can report even if we are still skilling or in combat?
    Jmod: Oh right, didn't know that. Not sure if it's intentional or not - I'll try to find out. Simple solution, don't sit while you're reporting peeps I don't think people would realise anyway tbh.

    Pmod: Are managing the pmod team, just a "side line" for curators now?
    Jmod: Some curators spend less time than others managing the pmod/fmod team now, yep. I spend a lot of time on fansite support stuff now for example. But we now have dedicated fmod/pmod curators (fran being the pmod one). Our intention hasn't been to lessen the amount of support pmods/fmods in any way. But I know some people have mentioned less of a jmod presence in the forums and so on. That's something we've raised to the team and hopefully has been changing over the past few days.

    Pmod: I have been asked why we now have this email registration? If jagex wants my electronic mail, they can dig my pmod registration records. I won't resubmit my email address to them again for this new registration during login.

    Pmod: is jagex flexing it's muscles recently against fansites that criticise jagex?? one of the well known anti-jagex fansite got shotdown recently. That fansite being used for black propaganda against rs pmods and jmods in general.
    Jmod: I can't comment on anything like that i'm afraid

    Pmod: Has paul started working harder on the tiering issue?
    Jmod: I spoke to him about it yesterday. it's something we are working on but it's not a major focus right now.

    * How are the fansite admins mod hohbein??

    % Good thanks

    * What are your techniques for them to submit to your will?

    * I'm guessing mind control, like some kind of benevolent pupetter.

    % hehe, Aye

    * I'm interested on how you able to persuade them;) it will be helpful for pmods to learn some tips on inspiring other ppl to work for a common goal.

    % Oh right, well i don't do that much persuading. It's all about working together with fansites.

    * I'm forwarding something to you regarding one of the procedure threads that is really a hot topic today: 'smd'.

    % right , it's in the procedures atm?

    * What's the ruling for that: "suck my *insert male body organ here*?

    % Ah yes, i see it;) It's an abbreviation so it's not reportable. and while i know what it stands for, in my experience it's not often used as a 'proposition' - it's more of an insult so it's not that much of an issue. Course, if someone were to spell it out word for word, then a report would be fine;)
    Louiellen

    12-Jun-2009 10:53:11
    * Do you guys not really care much for the 'polite' anymore? Because it's a cesspool out there, it really is.

    % polite is great, but we can't expect players of an online game to be absolutely 1000% polite to one another at all times.

    * I would hope for at least 5% of the time, but that's just wishful thinking.

    * Oh when the're having an intense battle with kbd, i can sorta understand them saying 'hey let's ****" Anyway, the place *looks* like a pub full of bikers.

    % Ah, like i say - if players want to be polite then that's cool. But it's not really something we could every enforce.

    * So your saying decent ppl should just give up?

    % Not at all, decent people can continue to be decent. and where necessary report players who go too far. but it's important to remember that this is an online game, people play it to relax and have a lough and while yea. it's absolutely important to make sure people don't go 'too far'. I think some freedom is necessity, i mean - i've played a *lot* of online games in my time and rs is no different in terms of being 'polite'.

    * Ok wild suggestion. laught at it but here it goes. all playerss that are non mods that didn't broke the rules for the last 6 months at least should be given an angel halo icon beside their names. if they broke a rule, those will be taken away. and may regain it again for not breaking a rule for the next 6 months.

    % Hehe - that's an interesting suggestion
    Louiellen

    12-Jun-2009 10:53:30
    * that way, there's a posititve reinforcement.

    * i can see the 'bad boy' club in varrock doing some hecklin.

    * It is and might result in a drop in rulebreaking.

    * People will be 'forced' to follow the rules, for the halo icon alone.

    * but it'd be inspiring;)

    * and if they see ppl with no halo, those ppl that have no halo will be ashamed for themselves and think twice.

    % might it encourage those without the halo to harass those with, it'd be something like a pmod crown. except involuntary.

    * 'hey i should straightedn up, to get that halo'.

    * any reactions?? laugh if you want:p

    * But i believe if punishment won't work. there's a need for trying positive reinforcements.

    % Aye - you might get some ppl aspiring to it, but i also think there would be a lot of jelousy.

    * the only problem i think is that to get rid of it. you have to break a rule.

    % which will result to a lot of harassment.

    * you know what wuold make it work??

    * Increase their mx hits by 1 as well. that'll straighten them up.

    * well, ppl with halo will be treated like a second class citizen, they broke rules they deserve to be treated like that anyway.

    * you can turn off chat from anyone without halo.

    * halo is positive reinforcement.

    % i dunno about that. just because a player has broken a rule previously, it doesn't meant to say they're bad person or should be treated differently to anyone else. some rule breakers are persistent and go out of their way to make other's life a pain. yea. but some players are genuinelly sorry for rule breaks. I like a debate, it's alright.
    Louiellen

    12-Jun-2009 10:53:51
    * well for the last argument mod hohbein, try to discuss that with the rest of the cm team. about the halo.

    % yea will do that , feel free to make a suggestion thread to. MIght be worth getting some ideas from other pmods too?

    * I'll post it at the lounge for more traffic. pmod suggestions forum is like a ghost town really. Here's my tip, for more traffic to your pmod-related thread. use procedures and lounge only, there rest are ghost towns.

    * No, there'd have to be dead people there for it to be one:p

    * So the lounge is a good idea.

    * Another issue: runescape clan chat. the officers of that clan, literally kick all pmods on sight. we went back to the original issue, after runescape got unbanned.

    * That account is being shared.

    * Do they keep a list/memory or is it when you speak.

    * when you read 'discouraged thread, that is the kind of name that i'm referring to.

    * to be brutally hones, that 'discourage' thread, the author got more discouraged.

    * that's true, and very very sad. he spends a lot of time in lumby.

    % ah. well to be honest, the issue raised wasn't that's easily solved. with a thread it's worth discussing certainly.

    * i feel verry sorry for mod crow, really. why did you left him, a newbie curator to take all the arguments??
    Louiellen

    12-Jun-2009 10:54:09
    % i read through, he was fine. what he was saying was quite right, there waasn't any need for other jmods.

    * he waas a valiant dart board. tiering should be grouping, not raising to higher levels. we should have specialist groups, recognising the skills sets none of this 'oh i'm so much better than you cuz i'm a mentor'.

    * unfortunately, some will still think it's all about what they aren't able to do and what someone else is able to do.

    * that might happen - but if you want to hunt bots god do it. and then join the group. easy as that. should not be tiering to the exclusion of someone else. most of what we do is because we want to do it.

    % i agree.

    * yea we raised it before, and told paul m about it over a year ago. actually (former pmod) and i had a meet with paul about it.

    % i agree with her, that tiering should involve anybody being higher than anybody else, should just be a way to group mods. depending on what they're interested in doing.

    * oh so perhaps instead of elements, we could have tier groups?

    * If you want to do it you're in.

    % somthing like that maybe, i think that's the best way to go about it though i don't like the idea, some pmods feel like others are more trusted than they .
    are

    * the better name is specialist teams. tiering just make you think lvls.

    % ok guys, and gals. are there any final questions before i go.

    * HOw can we demonstrate that merch clans are breaking rules?

    % we recently reviewed the merch clan situation. and found that it wasn't doing the economy or game a great deal of harm, and therefore isn't something ppl should be too concerned about.

    * but what about people that lose more than an invy full of stuff?

    % they are entirely voluntary and players don't have to get involved. the ge was designed to work like this to a certain extent. the important thing to know, is that we are keeping an eye on the merch clan situation and price manipulation. if we ever feel it becomes a real problem then we'll do something ok guys. thanks for coming.

    ========12th of June 2009 USE Surgery========
    Hosted by Mod Fran:

    * About 2 previous questions from surgeries, that J Mods said they'd get back to me on... Could you check those?
    % K What were the concerns?
    * The second one was about...actually forget the order; one was about double logging; concerning mods and rs and funorb
    % Aah yes. A hot topic at the moment ((Scribe: Fran is lighting fires atm)Well multi logging is totally against our rules. We do monitor it.
    * The full details are that: If I were to make a lending thingy, and ask for 10K for my Green H'Ween Mask for 24 hours, could one account pay for the mask and then have another account, recieve the loan? Or does that count as account interaction?
    % Oo so tricky. That would count as interaction. But would be quite difficult to proove. It's also quite risky with regards to it's similar to a trust trade.
    * And the other one, I believe there was something about being allowed, to log onto both RS and FunOrb at the same time, but the player is risking item/rating at there expense. So should mods be allowed, or is that bad rolemodelling, etc? Or is the rule redone and you must choose RS or FunOrb.
    % It's not something that we'd recommmend, mainly due to the fact that not paying suitable attention on either can lead to losses. It's not strictly against the rules because they are two different sites.
    * Since many people go on the forums and do other activities, while playing on rs/funorb is it comparable to this situation?
    % Not really as you're not going to loose something on the forums. So you would still only have one area of concentration, if you see what I mean.

    % Players can do this, but they take responsibility for their own risk.
    King Runite1

    13-Jun-2009 01:25:27
    % [PMod], what was your question
    * Well, since we can't pay for items with another account. Can you pay for your friend as a presse? So like I could pay for a gs loan, but my friend gets it.
    % Sure you can, but it's best to give them the money over time to allow them to hire it
    * *raises hand*
    % What was your question?
    * A valued member of the P-Mod team was banned for macroing and then un-banned. I was always told that the system was 100% . It makes me doubt whether I should be so....vicious with regards potientials incase the system mistakes players for rulebreakers... Obviously you can't respond with respect to the account.
    % I would like to assure you that the mistake was not due to the new system
    * Does that imply it's always made mistakes? - makes a lack of appeal somewhat bad
    % It is more to do with a mishap with dire circumstances. Exactly (this last comment refers to the point on a lack of appeal being a bad thing)
    * Hmm ok.
    % It's something that we at Cm take very seriously. I can't go into detail about exact accounts, but that's pretty much what happened.
    * Thanks for the diligence Fran.
    % Were there any other questions this evening?
    * *raises hand*
    % Let's have them :p
    * Since it's against the rules to purposely forfeit etc, to raise rating, it's also against the rules to forfeit etc, to allow someone easy runes, on Armies of Gielenior, correct?
    % It's something that is not so much against our rules. But it is certainly not in the spirit of the game. It's unfair to fix your rating.. And we wouldn't allow players to organise this on the forums.
    % Were there any other questions
    * Whose the special guest on Sun?
    * What does Paul M when "you may not know it, but you may know my gf"
    % Lol. Where did he say that?
    * The news (his interview)
    % Lol. Kk I'll have to get a chance to read that... I was saving it for hometime. I think pink is my only clue :D
    * The Pink Skirts are involved?!?

    * Whats the legality of using a recording device/software to record, the music on RuneScape or FunOrb?
    * Paul's gf is Hulme? :p (Scribe: In reference to 'pink' clue)
    % It's fine as long as you credit Jagex and as they say.. It's not slander :D
    * Circumstances are, I want to play them on piano
    % Ah well that would be cool!
    * *raises hand*
    % [P Mod] Your question?
    * Alright I know I said this earlier, just verifying. As long as no confidential info is revealed through a video, we can make them. Because something like the event today would be awesome
    % You can do that for sure.
    * And give credit to Jagex?
    % But not of the Mod Forum content.
    * Gotcha
    % Perfect. One more fire and I shall leave you for the weekend.

    There was a long discussion about the clan chat bug here. Rather than 15 lines of dialogue, a summary. Basically due to a problem with the friendserver (that also manages clan chats) some players could appear multiple times. Even if the player is kicked, there copies stay and can't be kicked. The player is free to change worlds and rejoin. According to rumour, at one point someone had upto 10 copies of themselves in a single clan chat. The associated forum QFC (outside P Mod forums) is: 120-121-13-58966244

    % Have a great weekend *hugs*

    Thanks to Fran and the other attendees. I've done my best to disguise Mod's identities, rather than check the list which would get annoying.

    15th of June 2009 Australian Surgery: Hosted by Mod Hohbein:

    * who decides for the rules of runescape? is it the cm leader mod paul M?

    % No

    * Or someone else at jagex??

    % it's a joint effort really. well the rules themselves rarely change - as in, offensive language. or against rules etc.

    * the whole cm team involved, or with other departments?

    % however, the way we interpret those rules and how we action reports against them is separate and may change.

    * who decides for changes of the rules?

    * Lord *said his name* (lol)

    % well give me an example. what kind of change?

    * who decided that it was time to mute for soliciting?

    % removing a rule entirely? adding a new one? or tweaking an existing one?

    * Look mod hohbein, i'm asking these kinds of questions only for one reason. if you ppl have a superior. we wanna escalate the smd issue to them. and let them decide.

    % smd issue. Thought i covered this in a forum post?

    * well you've answered my question with that hohbein.

    * It's in my impression you guys are just the implementors of the rules and not the ones that decide for it. So in order to bring this topic to end, without any hard feelings on your part. it's better to escalate it to someone that can ultimately decide.

    % not really, we don't necessarily make the rules, but we suggest tweaks/changes to them when we feel it's necessary. we have input in that way.
    Louiellen

    15-Jun-2009 11:02:36
    * So who is "them"?

    % well it'd probably be a number of teams quality and training, operations. it's not just a single person that decides. again, it's a joint effort.

    * Are you playing *first one to move is a rotten egg?*

    % Okay, just spoke to my manager head of community management.

    * Paul M, yes...

    % he's in agreement that "smd" on its own isn't something we'd consider particularly obscene and wouldn't therefor filter. not paul m, mod kelvin. Of course, as with any other abbreviated language, if it's being used amongst loads of other offensive language, then yea. go ahead report/mute accordingly. but if were to censor smd, we'd have to censor every other abbreviation. which isn't possible.

    * Not really, smd is a sexual directive.
    * *additions*
    % But it's rarely, if every used like that.

    * that puts it in a whole different arena.

    % it's an insult.

    * why would you have to censor every other 'offensive acronym'? other other don't refer to the act of sucking a body part? it's obscene to me, then again it's subjective.

    % that's fair enough and yea. it is subjective

    * It's a do one, do it all sort of thing? i don't understand.

    % it is subjetive. if we were to censor smd, people would ask why we haven't censored others. wtf, stfu, omfg.etc.

    * based on context, yues but tel me is it suitable in any context really?

    * did you censor fu?? i guess not.

    % we don't filter any abbreviated language. because it's not really a problem think of it this way. if you say smd is somebody that doesn't know what it means then there's no harm done. if you say it to somebody that does know what it means, it surely the'd be adult enough to shrug it off??
    Louiellen

    15-Jun-2009 11:03:02
    * someone suggested that you filtered that one.

    * fu is censored before.

    * i saw someone direct it at another person earlier today.

    * i report those without, so it can be referred to the filter team.

    % i don't want to take up the whole surgery with this one. rightly *another pmod* had a question. go for it.

    * ty, i wonder if you could ease my mind concerning.. macro detection system? i'm very concerned about that on the main site you say it won't be any chance to appeal, etc. how secure is that system?

    % the reasone we said that is because the way we detect players using macro software is incredibly accurate. to the extent that we just wouldn't perm ban somebody who's completely innocent. it's not like an offensive language report where context must be taken into consideration, either somebody is using a macro software, or they aren't if there's doubt then they aren't macroing. don't worry basically.

    * what if someone is hacked, and the hacker attempts to use a macro, with the intent to getting the innocent user's account banned? context considered then, no? IP address, etc??

    % well, when it comes to recovering the account, this should be raised.
    Louiellen

    15-Jun-2009 11:03:23
    * but there's no appeal option as the post stated.

    % but you should still be able to recover the account no?

    * so your saying the person would be revoked of that offense when their account would be recovered?

    % aye if the hijacker commited offense.

    * how about the fella who sat on prime tv, and boasted about how he bought an account for 1k lol. then whined on the forum about getting hacked? i don't remember his name atm.

    % i saw that (thread) he got hijacked, i think. that was interesting hehe. anyway, cool thanks for that sunli.

    * 1. where are the curators? we hardly see you anymore. could mechscape be keeping you busy?

    % we're all here we're all really busy working on projects. but we are all still doing our best to spend with the pmod/fmod teams. and hey, you still see me every omring so it can't be that bad. in fact it must be pretty awesome.

    * can the graphics guys please close our legs when we sit??

    * i agree i felt quite innapropriate yesterday regarding that lol

    * i'll leafe the fact that male character can wear skirts out of this.

    * i usually wear long things anyway, that's just me. but i spent the weekend in lumby watching people going "i can see right you your skirt" etc.

    % i believe that's known jana, i cna't say whether it will be changed. but it's been flagged so thanks for letting us know;)

    * i suspect hohbein of choking on his morning coffee atm.

    % but it's been flagged so thanks for letting us know:)

    * perhaps they will make us kneel...lol

    * it's a little too exciting for the younger hormones in the game. are you surprised jana?? it's is lumby after all.

    * any news on chat spammers

    % i din't have a great deal of time towads the end of last week. but should have some today.

    * too busy in his little indiana jones outfit whipping goblins.
    % who was that, lol.

    % which means he's not spending too much time on cm related stuff when he ge't sback i'm sure he'll be hitting surgeries.

    % well i'm going to have to dash pretty sharpish after surgery. is it something he can contact us about using an official route? (ie, head to the 'how to contact us' stick in the contact us forum)

    * i dunno, i'll try and find out and maybe direct them there.

    % yea cool. cheers mate:). oki doki.

    * well, yesterday, i saw something rather confusing and wanted your opinion. while trying to find penguines, i stopped to rest and a strange plants started to grow. and right the someone logged on near me, i assumed it was mine. he picked it laughed then antther one grew then third. after the 3rd he logged.

    %how odd what was his name? if yo got it and when you say he laughed, what kind of laugh, was it like hehehe. or mwahahaha?? Ok i'll check that out. lol. I'd be interested to check that out so thanks for letting me know ;)

    * i feel silly bringing this up again. is it going to be fixed, the link i mean or is that the way it's supposed to be. someone asked me about it. he was confused and was way into much. thinking he'd broken some law communicating through rs.

    % which link is this.

    * discuss% i raiseing advocating illegal activity.
    % thanks for reminding me. seems odd.

    * when is the report list going to reflect new rules

    % in what way. i haven't seen it for sometime. can't remember what it looks like off the top of my head.

    * almost everything is 'offensive language'.

    % hmm, i see.

    * but most of the time i click on 'soliciticatoring' and btw. my thanks to whoever put 'no don't ignore' under that i can usually double -click past there now.

    % i'll see if i can find out about the pmod centre, thanks for raising that..

    * when it works it's still flaky. it's still useful.

    16th of June 2009 Australian Surgery: Hosted by Mod John H:

    May I start the question? Not, really just a rehashed comment.

    % By all means;)

    * Ok *pmodname* knows this. but for the benefit of all in attendance here. look at mod john's outfit, default outfit. Those are the typical outfit of a lumby solicitor.

    * Revealing shoulder and midriff.

    * Lol

    * Oh that part

    * rofl

    * *another pmod* used to wear that type of get-up and agreed...lol. The tip i wanna share to you guys is, just observe ppl. that looks for bf, they often have an outift similar to mod john's

    * So he's a solicitor??

    * report him:p

    * That's the kind of outfit that makes guys... excitable.

    * not if it's pixels
    * oh dear

    * *nameof pmod* puts forward a valid point, don't get so defensive:p
    * I was making a valid point too

    % shall we do *pmod* addition first, then move to the question *another pmod*

    * the way mod jon is sitting, is quite a well liked position by a lot of these solicitors as well. i've found they tend to do it on their own in the open.

    * why are all jmods lvl 126, if the can be lvl 3?

    % it's just easier to put everything to 99 and forget about it. if we put everything to 1 in order to be lvl 3. then we could get killed by the environment without noticing if we were in game for an event or something. It's alright, it's a valid enough question.

    * is there anyway that reporting an offensive name could not require the person to have spoken? I'm pretty sure it does at the moment.

    * Yes it does:(

    * oh, heavens. that bothers me a bunch.

    % it does, yea. spoken out loud as well, pm doesn't count. um, not sure if that is likely to get changed really. i'm sure it's been suggested and it's a good idea but it is an engine change and that's done in a whole nother office so i don't really know if it would be considered a priority.

    * How long have you been conducting surgeries? I've not seen you before. I remember zach, conor and mat k. i know conor left.
    % On and off for a few months now, i don't do very many though. the pmod and fmod curator teams got amalgamated so we have a bit more crossover between our jmobs now. ibut i'm still mainly a forums guy. mat's here but he's working on other projects at the momeent.

    * amalgameted, i'm guessing that means putting together.

    % aye, intertwingled.

    * I learn something everyday.

    % amalgamated is a real world, i mean, but intertwingled probably now.

    * Be honest * bribes with a basket of cookies* pmods are cuter and more adorable than fmods? :p

    % No comment, etc.

    * showbiz-like answer mod jon :p lol

    * Why are jmods that are members of cm team are more visible at jagex lite forum? you guys more often post there than the pmod forum itself.

    % tbh, i don't go into jagex lite forum very often, i spend most of my forum time doing other stuff. so i don 't really have an answer for that one, i haven't seen a break down of where everyone posts or anything like that.

    * what is jagex lite?

    % jagex lite forum is for random chat and questions with jmods.

    * so the pmod room for non mods?

    % pretty much. and *she* asked why the community management team are posting more in there than anywhere else or seem to be. the idea is to be friendly, and talk to the players, and stuff. in a separate forum so that it doesn't keep overrunning the game-related forums. these threads used to be in the general forum and you couldn't talk about the game in there for threads offering jmod cookies.

    * sorry, evil evor has had a hand up for ages;)

    * regarding mbb extermination thread. and the clutter of names it's been receiving, will mod ddata be receiving any additional help from the team?

    % you would need to ask fran i'm afraid, sorry. i'm not involved so i don't really know, she's not in right now.

    16-Jun-2009 11:05:23
    * where is mod pud?? is he still at jagex towers?

    % No Pud has moved on to pasteurs new and is having a grand time as far as I know. Honest answer? staff are discouraged from making 'goodbyes'.

    * yes, they take all the old jmods to the glue factory.

    * some of us are older than the jmods, both ingame and in real.
    % *shrugs* i dunno, it's not a written policy or anything. just something i've heard in relation to a few people leaving recently.

    % So you know hohbein asked mod kelvin, the head of community management. about smd *in real time* we got the answer??

    * yes i do, but the thread's still running last i saw.

    % well it's not being changed.

    * Why is adolf hitler's surname consored??

    % the fuhrer's name is censored because people were using it. the same way you can't use the short form of national socialist because people were chicking it around as insult. especially given that we have many german players now.

    * some racists write i88 over things, seen it ingame a few times.

    * similar to how if any name that has 69 in it has any slight reference to something explicit.

    % ok fair enough, probably not enough without lots of context though. since 88 is a common enough number as it is.

    * i don't go to lumby to make one report, i make hundreds.

    5 yea but most of them are just ordinary offensive language, that was an instant perm ban. so it sticks out.

    % just one, i thought. we give the offece for one. :D

    * i give benefit of the doubt, because sometimes they might be.. talking about it casually, not advertising. for me, advertising is repeating, or asking for a signal.

    % well you, you can exercise your own judgement. you don't have to mute people;). but if they are actually soliciting then even just once is enough for us in a report.
    Louiellen

    16-Jun-2009 11:05:42
    * i don't get a kick out of muting mislead players:(

    % soliciting then even just once is enough for us in a report.

    * see i'm lenient and still manages to mute 50% of population

    % context is important obviously, i mean if two players are talking at a fishing spot or something. and one of them mentions that he's looking for a new girlfriend in rl, then it's not really soliciting. even if he says 'i need a girlfriend' you know.

    * what's is the status of the solicitation house parties at this point?

    % status?

    * i will respond with 'dating + adaption = mute, leave others'.

    % what "others" are there? i think i've only seen dating party and adaption party. ok, they must be less common then, not seen those.

    * we were told not to report, there's plenty of them though.

    % oh right, ok. yea you might be right but i guess it's too vague.
    Louiellen

    17th of June 2009: Australian Surgery: Hosted by Mod Hohbein:

    * Any news on that strange plant thing i asked about?

    % i had a look but couldn't find anything untoward. Most strange. I'll let you know if i hear more.

    * Well i've seen a lot of people say this word. it's not censored thou: person 1: what are you doing?. I can't type it, i'm disgusted. Person 2: applying with an f. Everyone in public lol.

    % ah ok.

    * that's reportable right?

    % yea - think this is a fairly new 'meem'. well, i think it'd depend on the context, just saying it like that, then probably not. if it's being included in more descriptive/explicit conversation. then yea, at the moment it is, like i say, quite new as far as i know. and not a lot of people actually know what it means. and if it's not being used amongst other dodgy language. then those who read it and know what it means will as you've said, laugh. those who don't know what it means won't know.

    * btw. you think you can help my friend. he's maxed out but can't access the max out forum.

    % oh right what's the name? I'll check that out. cheers.

    * yay

    * Btw, i would like to send kudos to the graphics team mod hohbein. they tweaked the female sitting style.

    % :D Awesome, so i see

    * only one version or more?

    * sometimes it's really beyond belief why some high hormoned boys ingame get horney with female sitting style.

    % indeed.

    * "i can see up ur skirt".

    * i don't understand the appeal of pixels.

    * Jagex should start a weekly podcast;) I wanna see hohbein sing in 1337.

    % turning my chat on scres me:(

    * do it. do it now.

    % never. instant 'zomg mod :D' messages. nothing yet.

    * (saying a tip) Q: Is it true that mods have a room only they can go to. A: i'm not at liberty to discuss that or the limos or groupies.

    * i dunno if mod mat k mentioned this to cm team. but there's a thread at jagex lite forum, complaining pmods getting the 'alleged unfair advantage' of beta testing kickabout beta.

    % oh yes, i saw that mat answered it didn't he?

    * So any plans to finally say something about it?? he just mentioned he will forward the issue to funorb jmods. or somethinglike that. not really a definite answer. that thread is an 'anti-pmod' thrad. it's irritating me.

    % hmmm. ok, i'll check it out. i thought mat hand kind of said all we could say. but i'll see whether there's anything more and yea. if it's turning into an anti-mod thread. then it may need locking. thanks.

    * How dictatorial runescape is. yo shutdown threads against mods.

    % it's against the rules to rant about any group of players. it's important to let people have their say. but when it runs into 'zomg mods suck one muted me the all suck'. threads i think something has to be done.

    * my pal made an account burn jageexx. not anything to bother with.

    % hehe, i wouldn't worry too much ferrari. but he might might get banned. so i wouldn't advise him spending much time levelling that up:p

    17th of June 2009 UK Surgery Transcript: Hosted by Mod French (Assisted by Mod Timbo)

    Legend:

    *, *2 Denotes a Pmod is asking a question, or making a commentary.
    % Donotes the Jmod is answering a question, or making commentary

    * Someone admitted they had swapped chars several years ago and I reported (without mute), today they're muted... I thought admitting for offenses years ago was a slap on the wrists?
    % It could be they were muted for a different offence
    * They said the evidence was our convo
    % I meant a completely different offence
    * Well thats the only offense I saw rs related, rest was fansite related...
    % Hmm...

    * Wondering if context got misunderstood of fansite rule vs rs rule

    % I'm not overly sure on that...

    * Feel bad cause what I intended to report for didn't expect a mute

    % I wouldn't worry Mystress, I don't think our attitude to old offences has changed... Sorry our attitude to admitting to old offences. If you think there's an error, you can send us a message about it.

    * Well I dunno what they got action for :p All I know is they say it's a short mute

    % It's unlikely a mute was issued for that.

    * *comment*
    % Yes
    * Would it be useful/possible to put the name of the Mod who actioned a report on the reports list?
    % I don't think that would work very well.

    % Question [Mod Name]?
    * I've some questions about the offence system as it is now.
    % Go on :)
    * Is it possible you guys are letting off players who might otherwise get a small infraction
    % No
    * Or what happens when a player is given a very small infraction?
    % But I can't go into detail on actions we are taking
    * Are they still getting a message about it?
    % When they get an offence, they get a message and will be able to see evidence
    * Because lately it seems I've had more players who are exulting that they were wrongly muted by a mod cause the mute was lifted in a short period.
    % If we review the report and take no action the mute will be lifted
    *2 That's how my bully stalking all started

    King Runite1

    17-Jun-2009 20:48:43
    * And of course since we aren't all getting any feedback, it's just a frustrating situation. We have no way of knowing if our mute was considered wrong or the player is lying or something else is going on. It's very frustrating.
    % If there's a serious problem with your reporting, we'll let you know
    * I'd rather have the feedback personally
    * And there's no way for us to go back and review what we muted that person for, to see if maybe we think it was wrong, later, too.
    *3 When did individual report feedback stop (I figured I was 100%)
    * No, they aren't doing that any more
    *3 :(
    *4 :(
    *5 I assumed I was 100 too... o_O
    * Almost makes me feel like I shouldn't even report any more, since I have no way of knowing if it's me.
    *3 No point looking at reports list then... :|
    *6 Don't forget foul names get unmuted while waiting on nasty Name team >.<
    % Guys, please
    *7 We can only report/mute as per our judgement, it's for Jagex to decide if it's right or not, or pass punishment.
    * I'm just talking regular reports, not going into anything controversial. I just want to know if I'm making mistakes. Or if the player is lying or what.
    % If you are making mistakes, we'll let you know. Just the Facts has some tips as well. We only want you to report and mute the serious threats to the community. As long as you follow the Oracle and use your judgement you'll be right.
    *8 The oracle's kinda confusing...
    *7 Use your best judgment, you can't go far wrong :)
    % Mod Fran is working on that [the Oracle]
    *8 =)
    % Remember, you were all recruited because you demonstrated good judgment and adaptability

    * I was told there is a this on the forum trashing me. What can be done?
    % A what, sorry?
    %2 You know what the thread title is and I'll have a look?
    * Someone posted something
    % Ah right
    * Someone telling people me & my sis are mods. This person is one we report a lot. She moves from one account to another.
    % Have you tried posting on 'I need a Mod'?
    King Runite1

    17-Jun-2009 21:05:22
    * No, I will try that ty
    *2 Have you seen the posts yourself
    * Yes
    % That will help us investigate. Harassment is only something we can deal with when we have evidence. A bit like reporting really.
    (( Later but here for clarity :p))
    %2 Hey, the forum thread has been taken down. We'll keep an eye out to see if he posts again :>
    * Ty

    * The news said 28K nasty names being reviewed. Is that from 1 week or from a few weeks together?
    % It was several week's worth of names...
    * So name team meets occasionally to sift through the list?
    % The name team works round the clock to take out names. There are grandfathered names, which you already know about, which will be reviewed further. Mod MMG said in the Q&A about the plans to deal with this situation in the long term. But we're also looking at other options for Pmods. So any constructive suggestions should be sent to us.
    * So the 28k names are mostly grandfathered or mix of grandfathered and weekly Lum submissions?
    % I'm afraid I can't go into details with you. But these names were not instantly bannable, otherwise they would have been removed already
    * Mk, seemed a large # [number] and didn't know what it was made up of
    % :)

    * In the just the facts it says you are constantly working to remove macros. Where are the names coming from? In-game reports? Sure[ly] not of[f] the MBB thread.
    King Runite1

    17-Jun-2009 21:16:35
    I missed abit of discussion here. The general theme was the following:

    a) MBB thread posts haven't been reviewed since May 11th. There are ~ 1100 names outstanding.
    b) New system designed to be 100% accurate at finding bots. So are player reports (guesses) still necessary? Given that they go in the system which has already decided, surely it's pointless. Even if a new macro was spotted by a player, the system which couldn't detect it, wouldn't know when it was passed by report anyway.

    Mod Answers
    a) MBB thread is still being looked at. French promised to pass the comments.
    b) When significant numbers of reports on non-detected macro are sent in, the issue is raised and looked into in more detail. Ergo no report is pointless

    One player raised the situation of a player repeatedly running round a small part of a flax field as an example in the game.

    Final words from Mod French:
    % I'll pass your comments on. I understand these issues are something you feel strongly about. But I can assure you we are taking them very seriously and will continue to take them seriously. Some issues will be resolved instantly, others will require a little more work. We look for short and long term solutions for all problems.

    * A long time ago there was talk about after so many reports the ip would be banned
    % IP's aren't really viable: lots of people use the same IP address. If we blocked one, we would be blocking all the other players using that IP. Does that make sense?
    * Yes
    % Lots of people log in from shared IPs on libraries and schools
    *2 Some offences like macroing could be blocked by IP. I'm not sure I'd get away with putting a computer on all day playing RS at school
    % Hmm
    *3 Alot of schools block RS
    *4 Yeh, it would be a shame to punish all kids in those situations for the actions of one or a few
    % Indeed

    Session ended here, with a few last overall coments and thanks
    % Again, I realise these things can be aggravating. But be patient with us: we are working to resolve them.

    18th of June 2009 Australian Surgery: Hosted by Mod Crow (with Paul M at the first half of the session):

    * May I start the session? I have a question.

    % Ok
    * What's the future of the qa teams?? seems since 2009 started. we haven't heard of anything new with qa. to somehow make pmods more interested with it.

    % Do you mean game qa or pmod qa?

    * The elemental teams are in a hiatus?? no activities scheduled?? really boring

    % unfortunately mod fran is the one to ask about that, and she is not here at the moment.

    * mod fran said, she would look into if i can have my name uncensored. the first part was ruined by first update of world 121.

    % we have a process for changing censor. i'm sure that if fran has passed your information on it will be in the process of being looked into.

    * my name is far from rude, it means billy goat in danish. I have tried for years to get it back. ty crow.

    * I'm so sorry for you pal.

    * yell out to paul and tell him he's welcome in here lol.

    (at this moment, paul m enters the pmod room)

    * since paul m is here, i will reask the question. what's the future for pmod elemental qa teams?? no active stuff happening. it's so boring. crow cannot answer the question.

    % ok, well i think it's fair to say that we need to lok at how we approach them as you're right. we've not done anything elemental in a while.

    * party, it has the word 'mental' in it anyway, so let loose.

    % i'm always up for the party. good flipping call. hehe

    * are mod seven and mod samantha terribly very busy this week?? I try to get hold of them via query (nameofotherpmodaccount). but they never replied yet.

    % sam's actually ill at the moment poor thing. so severn is picking up some of her work. but he should still be very much available. i know he's next in on saturday night so hopefull you'll hear back from him. i'll give him a nudge though in case the message is stuck in the queue.

    * the 26k pvp trick. another loophole being exploited like merch clans.

    % as ever, we walk a thin line between coming down on things hard and upsetting the honest majority.

    * my next question is about the recommendation system.

    % what about the recommendation system?

    * is it possible to recommend another acount of my own? and if so should i wait a few months before doing so?

    % you can recommend another account. to do so we have a thread in the forums for that.

    * but it's handy having another account that's not a mod.

    * rsbot org, someone said there bringing jagex down with a concerted effort of something. lots of bots, i suppose.

    * maybe a new script.

    % obviously we'll make sure our investigation team know. people will often make threaths like that against us. were easy targets after all.

    % but i don't think it will be anywhere near as successful as they think.
    % but we've have a big team of geeky boffins who make it their life to stop macroers and their scripts.
    Louiellen

    * so we can be on the lookout for them.

    % so we can be on the lookout for them.

    * we should all change into green bald me for the next surgeryl.

    % oh not again. (nameoffamousmod) did that last surgery.

    * everyone lols.

    * may i send my regards to mod knox, i saw his icould video. his the only jmod i know of on that video. mod knows *waves*. tell him that;)

    % well tel him you said hi.

    * regards to mod zach too.

    * mod u late? is that jmod always reporting for work late? :p

    % I don't think, we have anyone called mod u late. bye

    (mod paul leaves).

    * lol well all know what you'd pick as a jmod account name shyould u every work for jagex (nameoffamouspmod).

    * why girls can only sit one way?

    % well we originally changed the pose based on feedback. and because some people are being a little innapropriate with the old pose. we are though always looking at feedback so we could be in for another review.

    * if girls wearing short skirts, they could have their legs folder under them.

    % i think it's something our dev team are having a look at.

    * no don't, no matter what, please jagex. don't introduce kneeling capabilities to girls. it will be terrible at lumby if you do that.
    Louiellen

    18-Jun-2009 11:05:29
    * yea that be bad.

    * i agree too.

    % as far as i'm aware there are no plans for that.

    * if someone commits an offense, and is reported by any means, doesn't matter pmod or not. and you guys act, how does a person know about it? do they get an inbox message saying the were busted?

    % well they receive an offense on their account and get a message in their inbox.

    * pmod on their way with an amusing story. you'll get it in the queue in about 30 minutes.

    * i was told by someone in no uncertain terms, how they hated all mods.

    % this is with regards to this very popular rumour surrounding, the recent anti-bot campaign. the 3rd top player, allegedly banned for macro. and ppl started a rumour that he's a pmod hence he got away from being banned. and got unbanned after a few days of being banned.

    % the incident was teh result of issues other than the macro update. they shouldn't have been banned hence they were unbanned their mod status wasn't a factor at all.

    * can we say to the players, that the said 3rd top player that is also a mod is not banned due to macroing. but rather for something that was jagex's fault. hence it was reversed??

    * best way to deal with it is to say that it is a person's account and thereforre privacy should be respected, i too enter problems like that.

    * because ppl are angry that jagex has doulbe standard of justice.

    % tell them it wasn't because he was a mod, it was because the issue was a mistake which should never have happened. it wasn't really to do with macro update either. so try and explain the macro system really does only affect actual rulebreakers.
    Louiellen

    18-Jun-2009 11:05:48
    * ok, maybe the rumour was peddled stronger due to the 'timing' of the wrong ban and the macro update lol.

    % it was mainly a timing issue, sorry if i seem a bit slow, my comp is throwing a wobbly.

    * why mod crow?? are newbie curators have crap pc and the veterans of the cm team gets the better deal with the computers??

    % actually, my comp is quite good, it's just now throwing a hissy fit.

    % a fiend!

    * i'm sure paul m keylogged you crow:p

    % i'll just type random stuff to confuse him then!!!

    * When a player is making things like:
    8=====dddd
    over and over again in a bank and is asked by other players to stop, and words start flying, then I walk in bank where players know me and say "a mod is here now, keep it up and she will mute u" and then words like "she can't" then more of "read the rules from other players".
    Then I reminded all in bank they have an ignore button. Thanked by some for reminder then more mouth and spam from first first player. Next player says mute him. I ignored. And then 1st player logs off.
    My question is... If he hadn't logged off, what would be my next step? I wasn't the one bothered by him

    % If they continue to be disruptive by spamming after multiple warnings it's up to you if you should report and mute

    * What does just a report do to their account?

    % We'll take a look and add an offence. You don't have to report if you don't want to though, don't forget that

    * Does the player get a notice in their inbox?

    % Yes they will

    * Kk and other than than reminder about ignore button. Is it better that I leave or remain.

    *2 I like and user that tactic myself Memakv :)

    % It's up to you?

    * :)

    *3 Is it considered similar to aqp as a ******* reference.

    * Lol

    *3 - I'd probably be harsh on the spam limit personally

    * I don't believe so. 2 kids just sitting in a bank making signs. Granted, player 1 did same one over and over again :). My concern is more for the players that were bothered

    % If they don't choose to ignore the player, more fool them

    *4 They don't have to be, they choose to be

    *3 If they are bothered they will report/ignore

    * True :)

    * Does Mod MMG have a youtube channel. Seperate from Jagex official one?

    *2 A facebook yes, but not heard of a YT. I'd treat as suspicious.

    % I've not heard of a YT channel for Mark either

    * Okay, claims in chat - but I saw no harm done.

    * By the way, the humble PMod room was shown on facebook

    (The images were taken as part of the weekend activities - P Mod celebrations)

    At this point we had no further questions so discussed fun stuff: cartwheels, buying cookies at ridiculous times from shops and possibilities for alternative emotes (*0* , ^j^, etc). Someone mentioned the wily / lazy cat bug, but no discussion took place.

    * Good news is, I heard they're working on a solution for those nasties :)
    % What nasties?
    * Rwters collecting whiteberries
    % Oh right
    * I could look, but white berries - expensive?
    % White berries... High level herb component I think
    * Very good money in white berries
    * For 27 they transfer 20K they bot the pickers and xfer that way
    % Make brews perhaps?
    * They make def and super def pots
    * The buyer drops them it's for transferring only. They don't bank. Unless we kill them

    What follows was weird. Mat was asking us about a weird occurence! I put it in because it's probably an oddity you'll come across.

    % Does runecrafting and fireballs mean anything to anyone?
    * Some sort of arcanist's reference?
    % [Mod] just asked me what they were. She was runecrafting and Harry Potters turned up with different coloured fireballs. Used them on the altar.
    * Lol that's the minigame. Sound's like Great Orb Project. But they aint fireballs.
    * The RC Minigame takes place on real altars. Sometimes the mini-game stumbles across poor runecrafters
    % Hmm...
    * Done that before.. Scares RC'ers silly :D
    % Can you take the orbs out
    * No, unless it's bugged.
    * It's normal, seen it on my members account. You can watch. But you can't participate.
    % Oh right. That makes sense then.

    Lots of inane rambling here as we think of questions ;) A discussion on Mechscape and RS3 progress involving Mat K raising sailing, horses and guns as possible additions. :)

    * When players start talking about all the RS related stuff on YouTube, Facebook and all that... We just let it go on? Even if directing to someone's channel?
    % That's right if it's our channel of course.
    * What about a player's channel?
    % If it is other people's channels, use your common sense. If they are just chatting, ignore them. If you think it's a scam, report them.
    * Sure. Got it, never saw a scam one yet, tbh
    % That's good. Our community is actually rather good. Sadly, we tend to focus on the bad side too much imo.

    * I'd like your best response for the following...
    "Will I get in trouble for using swiftkit?"
    I've beaten around the bush with security blah blah. Advised them against etc. Jagex can't vouch... But they said
    "Yes I know the security side, but will I get in trouble for using it?"
    % Tell them the truth
    * That they won't?
    % We are not going to ban anyone for using it
    * Ok
    * Would it be possible to have a post on the forums about it, a locked sticky?
    * Is it used for autotyping and autoing?
    * Sk is not an autotyper/autoing program
    * Of course, players 'could' use it... But pmods can't.. Righty?
    * Right

    * I'm having the same trouble with the 26k trick.
    % 26k trick is not against the rules. There's an answer. But
    it's not very profitable to do it cuz it ain't a good way to do it.
    * Isn't it?
    % Nope, the drop table pwns them
    * I have to disagree =[]
    % Well that's what the head of content says
    * Depends if they gain EP beforehand I suspect

    * With the new macro detection system in place, is there a need for use to continue our weekly bot busts? The thread is horribly backlogged
    % There is no reason to stop doing it as far as I can see. If you enjoy helping in that way, continue, that's what I say.
    * Ok will do, I'm always on the lookout for evil doers. Any idea when we can expect all those names to be cleared?
    % I don't I'm afraid

    % I am doing other things that take me away from the community which is sad. On the plus side, what I do affects more players than anything I have done in the past. In a good way of course.
    % It's things like going through systems and procedures we use and removing the silly ones and making them more efficient. One example was making a small change so there were 10,000 fewer players being locked over a period of time. [...] It was very good. But not something that would ever have been discovered had I not had the time to do it.

    And

    % I am currently working closely with community safety to make them better atm. I think it may be longer term, than we first expected.
    * Ah so we losing you then?
    % I am still here aren't I? And I still near Fran so I hear her go on 24/7

    * A player was unable to change the current email if they didn't know the current one if it had been set, meaning the hacker had a permanent knowledge of the account. Obviously it's not a common problem. Could be a future issue though
    % I'll make a note of it, thanks dude.

    * Hmm, i thought we should close one eye towards passing of clan sites?

    % hmm, not that i'm aware - where was that said. maybe it is one sec.

    * i got feedback about that once.

    * clan site are not reportable right?

    * that's what i thought

    % ok so it says, 'advertising non-dangerious website'.

    * That was why so many pmods got angry and posted a thread before trying to convince you guys to reverse the leniency.

    % if a site is safe and rs related no report. if you aren't sure of the content, report without. if you see a clan site advertise and you know it's fine then no report. if you aren't sure and think it might be a scam report without. * i thought only mods beta test it, according to forums.

    % oh right.

    * lol

    Louiellen

    22-Jun-2009 10:44:55
    * Well as jagex already knows, the pmod team is divided among two subgroups. the active vocal pmods, and the pmods that just lurk at the forums. And more and more pmods just join the second subgroup since they get disappointed at pmod forums.

    % yep, i understand.

    * any plans on the cm team's part to somehow bring more life to pmod discussions? as you can see, always the same names posting at pmod forums, especially at procedures?

    % well it's a challenge to get more varied folks posting. but i'm sure we'll think of something.

    * any potential of reviving the pmod awards system of 2006/2007 era??

    % already on it. although we had some rather disappointing jealousy... When we ran them last time, which is why we stopped in the first place. but we're rethinking things to make it clear what we appreciate. And i guess if we have too much jealousy and arguing, It gives us a better idea of who might be wrong for the role :)
    Louiellen

    * was the pmod awards ended up being discontinued due to the controversy of a former awardee turned to being an anti-jagex. I know mod paul m don't want to talk about her, the 'one that should not be named'.

    % No, people change and that's not a problem. the problem was the general populace sending messages to us. complaining about why they didn't win. which wasn't very sporting. :). Anyhoo, any last p-mod procedure questions?

    * How many Pmods are needed to 'change the light bulb'?

    * Lol I heard one of these yesterday.

    * That's really a serious question. How many vocal pmods are needed to convince Jagex to tweak their ruling?

    % How many? :p Ok.

    (after greetings upon greetings of late pmods:p)

    % Okay! Let's get started, who has qastans!

    * Lol, you skipped mine mod hohbein? :p

    * She did ask about how many pmods does it take to change policy?

    % Sorry, didn't know you had a question. Oh right, how many:p lolz :D

    * PMods brought about some important changes, solicitation was the largest. But I think she's referring to the flooding and offensive language now. The threads might be locked, but the issues are still very real.

    % What needs to be changed?

    * Well at least allow us to report merch clan spams without a mute, so you have some statistics to base on. when you incorporate tweaks with the rules.

    * 5 minutes in ge on w1 they won't need stats...lol

    % hmm. Well, i really don't see merch clan spam as a problem.
    Louiellen

    23-Jun-2009 11:45:44
    * Hobes, have you tried taking a look?

    % It happens mainly on busy worlds at the ge. where everyone else is already spamming. Even if you removed every merch clan spammer. it'd make little diference with regards to 'scam clans' - think it's kind of down to players to careful and not to get involved in something they don't fully understand.

    * Can I point out that i've been up to ge and muted all of the merch spammers and it 'does' make a difference. You didn't say that about 'free stuff show inv'.

    % What i mean is it would be a great deal easier to advertise there's so much chat at the ge from other players anyway but that was a direct scam.

    * some people said something similar about scams way back when it's more direct, but not a lot different, really.

    % That was literally stealing items from players. merch clans don't steal anything as such - they may just mean players lose out. But again, players need to go into things like that with their eyes open. I know i'd never invest a large amount of money into something i don't completely understand ingame. But - we are keeping an eye on the merch clan situation.

    * That's you, but not everyone that plays rs has more than 2 brain cells.

    % I we ever feel that it does become a big problem, then we revise our stance. hehe.

    * Don't forget that the lure of fast, easy money is very powerful.

    % indeed

    23-Jun-2009 11:46:08
    * And that's all the younger ones want

    * It forms very effective blinkers.

    * Quick GP

    * Poeple don't see the risk, they go in with the 100k they worked for always asked taht;)

    * HOw many times have you been asked how you make gp?

    * a lot.

    * Or how you make 'fast' gp.

    * Soon as someone sees the hat.

    * They don't want to skill.

    * First question "how mjuch you make cash?!?". it's the thing that seems uppermost in people's minds. and it's the reason why people beg, not play. They spend an hour in lumby begging to get 2k.

    * True lol

    * When in 20 minutes in cov field they get 3k

    * that's where i started, killing poor cows.

    * They see 'money' as the main aim, so anything concerning it grabs their attention to exclusion of most other things.

    * I started badly, and somehow ended up with money.

    * I didn't learn till really late in my rs life.

    % I think it's the way any game is.

    * Might be, but we have to look at the issue of merch clans from the point of view that money is the primal need.

    %I was like when i first started playing mmos. i remember begging a poor guy to spend 'hours' helping me level a character. His wife got so annoyed she told me off :(. It was awesome.

    * I still help people if they ask me.

    % *****, I ned mi character levalled plx D: Hehe. haha

    * Anyway, so if we accept that money is most important, the merch clans are impacting on it in a disastrous way.

    5 I don't think so the number of people they effect. Proportionally is very small.

    * Tell that to the guy that are losing their money based on the advice of merch clans?

    % Yes some people might be tricked into spending moeny something they don't need. But at the moement it's not a massive issue.

    * That's just one part of the equation too.
    % But again, as i said, we are keeping an eye on the matter. and if we feel a change of stance is needed they it'll happen.
    Louiellen

    23-Jun-2009 11:46:39
    * Still, if it were to become big problem. I rather of taken down sooner.

    % if it werw to become a problem, which directly impacted the majority of player's gameplay then yea, I'm sure a change in stance would be necessary.

    * Hohbein, do you guys actually see in some way how many are affected?

    % Not exactly, that's hard to see. but we can make pretty good estimates.

    * (nameofbugabuseratfallymasscare) didn't impact the majority of people but you guys. got out of bed to fix the issue.

    * So is the stuff the merch clans are doing different from the sole merchanters of old who parked in fally?

    * Artificial inflation and lack of supply greatly hinders everyone.

    * Is it possible to take preventive stance rather than leave it until it affects the majority?

    % I don't think it will effect the majority. "we' don't thing it will. our icu team spent time alongside our content team reviewing the matter in detail. Looking at how prices were changing, and so on. and found that, actually while yea in the short term you do see changes in price. In the long term it evens out to where it was previously. We have tools to track prices of items, etc.

    * You know, the 30 days charts show exactly what hohbein is saying. it jumps up, then drolps to where it was before.

    * When you see price rising like that. You know that the leaders have already bought their stock and they're in the process of dumping when their clan members are in the process of buying.

    * so technically lining their own pockets??

    * Without any shadow of doubt.

    % Guys - I don't think there's much point in us discussing this further. In this surgery - I've made Jagex' (or is it jagex's) stance clear and we might as well move on to any other question people may have?

    * I'd just like to confirm my question from monday. The one you said you'd confirm with Mat K?

    % REmind meee what it was I think I sent him a mail about it.

    * On actioning clans/websites.

    % was this about the oracle?

    * Erm not per se. I think it

    * Something like that yes.

    % Okay - If you don't know what the site is. don't mute it. But do report it to us without a mute, and we'll check it out.

    * Yea, but I believe what I meant was, we no longer close one ye regarding sites yes?

    % Yea, that would include clan sites which you don't know.

    * Want to get on your choob later, and make heaps of cash with me? Make about 50 mil a day. Normally takes me 2 weeks to make that

    * Oo can i too? lol

    * Lols

    % Sounds great but I already make 200 mill a day :(

    * We'll go do that 25k pvp trick.

    * Oh count me out then

    % Yea, where's the fun in that :| That's like pvping... without pvp :|

    * They seem to enjoy making the money that way.

    % Fair enough - but I can't see the fun in it!

    * and while we all know it's not right. They're slaughtering any normal means of making cash. Which , byt the way, just emphasizes the point earlier about $$$.

    * I thought making 6-10 m a day is good, these guys doing 5x that it's rampant :(

    * What if rwiters use this 26k trick to do their rwitering business??

    % Stance clear on in the past. There's no point in discussing further.

    * where back to square one of the war against rwiters mod hohbein.

    % Again, can't see the fun in it myself.

    * It looked extremely boring when i watched them:(

    * Just to add, i'm noticing a trend with bots/borgs training cows and other monsters.

    % Okay.

    * They all seem to be pvp based, training mostly combat, sometimes range and mage. Do you think this may fit with the rwt business??

    % I see

    * Yes, that's a possibility, that this 26k trick be used as a marketing vehicle by rwiters to be profitable again here at rs.

    * If they're found a new way to transfer cash.

    % Hmm - really not sure.

    * for the past 3 days without stop.

    % Definitely, either report them, or bring them to our attention in the bot busting thread.

    * I certainly have :)

    * Hohbein, why that thread still shows names?

    % I guess, we could auto-hide.

    * wouldn't it be better to show names to avoid duplicates?

    % I suppose there's a chance some aren't bots. But then, I can't see it being a problem. It's not as though you guys are taking the names and oing anything else with them. as long as they're just being posted there for Jagex to have a look at, I can't see what's harm's done.

    * We know there's a leak in the team.

    % I guess.

    * that leak might be used to send the names in that thread back to the owners or they might be checking to see if we spotted and if we've spotted the account, they stop botting.

    % But remember, there's also queries, reports etc. That thread isn't the be all and end all. But fair points - i'll see what icu say about auto hiding i'm fairly sure i asked them before and they gave a good reason no to. But i can't remember:(

    * Did they know we have a leak?

    % I'll see what they say! Thanks for raising that. Welll to be hones, we probably have more than 1 leak it kind of goes without saying to an extent.

    * Thanks althought the last thing I want is to cause the busters problems but i kinda stopped busting because of names showing.

    * I visited Runescape.com on a new computer. Log in account on my laptop, I typed .com and it comes with this ad. Like a trailer or something like runescape.

    % That's the splash page.
    Louiellen

    23-Jun-2009 11:48:05
    * Splash page??

    % it's a page that users will get the first 3 times they visit runescape.

    * I've never seen it before.

    % Although, if you clear your cookies, you'll see it again. But yea, it was announced on the frontpage too i believe? So maybe have a look for that. There was definitely a post in the pmod forums about it. just do serach for splahs page, should find it;)

    * (nameof player mod askin question), look at 'louiellen's' post on that procedure thread. I posted there a way to 'bypass' the splash page legaly:)

    % yea

    * It's the forums technique mod hohbein. bookmark the forums, then use it to launch the game.

    * This question, will take long. so please bear with me guys. Regarding pmod registration almost 2 years ago. Jagex mentioned pmod registration is a way for jagex to make sure pmods are doing just fine. And not engaged in illegal activities but with a team as big as ours, i'm confident that a certain number of pmod accounts are in the hands of the evil organizations like the cheating community and the rwiting community

    % Ok.

    * How jagex find a solution to get those accounts demod? I hope, we all find a solution, because pmod accounts in the hands of evil elements of the game is disaser for the community.

    % If we find a pmod is actively involved in cheating/rwiting, they'll be demodded

    * I hope that, since a pmod knows better, it's more than just a demod. band the account on the spot.

    % would depend i guess, but maybe other actions. We had a look at the account in question, and there's nothing we could find that would raise any concern. My guess is, maybe just a fluke.

    Open Letter to the PMod Community:

    Hi guys, I hope you like the 'Clarity' thread and helped you learn anything that happened in a particular surgery session. Up to this point, all transcript written on this thread are all 'non-censored' and 'unreviewed' by Jagex Mods and not being subjected to their 'scrutiny' yet.

    I really don't know what is in store for the future of this young and fragile initiative. As of the moment, the transcripts posted here contains the 'real deal' chats between the Jmod host and the pmods in a surgery session. Word for word, punctuation per punctuation minus the greetings.

    I do still hope and confident that Jagex will still allow me to capture and generate transcripts of surgeries for the benefit of the whole PMod team - especially for those members of our team that are unable to attend surgeries. I do understand that standards should be set on how to do transcriptions of sensitive sessions like PMod surgeries. At the moment, since the first day of this thread: there has not yet a set of standards for this. So I'm now asking Jagex to please set the standards for the future of this young yet fragile initiative.

    I believe that this thread is serving a very important function for the Pmod community. And I hope, that "Clarity" will pave the way for more Pmods to get interested of attending surgeries once more. Communication is a key for any team to be successful.

    Thank you very much guys for reading. More power to the PMod team, more power to Jagex;).

    Sincerely,

    Hello all!

    Just to make sure there's no confusion:

    I can assure you that the future improvement of this initiative is not going to involve censoring, but rather making sure Surgeries are used for what they were intended, as the potential and unintentional trend we spotted could have done more harm than good.

    Getting the main gist of what was said by J-Mods is definitely an excellent idea as it gives everyone a good place to check if they missed something. Indeed, all those years ago we had several P-Mods taking minutes regularly, so this is nothing new. :)

    Anyhoo, watch this space and don't worry!

    * We need (censoredfornoreason) removed from the filter. All these shiny people trying to sing around the camp fires, filter gets in the way.

    % Oh Hmm. Well, I'll note it down, but should also use the 'feedback about the censor' thread. Fair enough.

    * I'm not exactly sure, if you'll be able to answer this, but I sent a query to Mod Hohbein, regarding 'emps scape'. Have you heard any news about that from the investigations team?

    % Not personally, but I'm sure Mod Hohbein will be in touch if necessary.

    * I said tip it has maps of evil trees then one player says he would report me, althought i broke the advertise we site rule. So I showed him the fansite list in the forums. Turns out he had been muted a year previously for the tip it site mentioning. Or so he claimed.

    % rules can be changed - but it takes time to do so, if we don't want to cause confusion.

    24-Jun-2009 10:54:39
    * I guess this isn't a game which can easily have 'affiliated fan sites'. Like, with links to fan material from the rs site. Since it's better to incorporate any good things they're doing in the rs manual.

    * Fyi, last year it was mr. geoff iddison that steered Jagex. so the rules are different regarding fansite.

    * The problem though is the fan sites sometimes have dodgy ads.

    % We can't guarantee the content of any fan site. There's advice on how to deal with this in the oracle. If you know the site to be a dangerous one, then mute it. If you aren't sure, then just report it - we'll do the rest.

    * Which is fair enough, just so everyone knows though. taintaed might look like a clan, but it's one of the nastiest groups around.

    % as said, if in doubt, don't mute just report.

    * Has there been any more to let us enter the pmod room from town criers?

    % We've talked to the relevant department, it's not something that is technically feasible. I'm afraid. It's our understanding that, at the moment, we can only allow here through one point. Sorry

    26th of June 2009: Australian Surgery: Hosted by Mod French:

    % I was told there were burning issues (for today's surgery), but your first to shoot.

    * I saw a guy, who said he was police and was basically saying he had authority. I tried telling him that he should be saying that because if he isn't that is impersonating an officer. Which I'm pretty sure is against the law. And he basically went on saying that he could break the rules.

    * Did he say what he had authority in runescape?

    * I tried telling him that he could say he was a policman. cause he couldn't prove it, when he said "you can have my details and check them". I told him that that was also against the rules.

    * Not a policeman worth his badge :D

    % One question from me: what was he trying to do? was he trying to get other people to do things? or was it more like bragging?

    * Basically, just trying to throw his power around.

    % Hmm... Well saying that he could break rules and we couldn't do anything is worth a report at least.

    * By the time i tried to solve things peacefully, the chance to report went.

    % ah, since we couldn't prove his story one way or another, we couldn't take action on that bit.

    * but you could do something about encouraging others, perhaps "i'm a cop, so i can break rules if i want".

    * Yea, the other players weren't having any of it.

    % Indeed: saying he can break rules and jagex can't do anything... he's glorifying rulebreaking. Going back to the officer. I'm sure he could write in, he is playing the game and is subject to the rules.
    Louiellen

    26-Jun-2009 10:47:50
    * Don't you think any officer worth their salt wouldn't be so pushy?

    * Some of them sadly.

    % I can't say one way or the other. If you have any more details that you want to share about this incident. then might want to send in a query.

    * We have little in the way of guidelines to tackle the issue yet and that is cyber bullying. I realise, that vgt etc. are only just starting to tackcle it too.

    % vgt?

    * So the whole issue is new ground. Virtual global task force.

    % Ah, yea, i had heard of them, but not as acronym. but go on.

    * Much like the big kids push around, the little kids in playground. We have the same thing in the virtual environment. I see it all the time, for example: "shuddup, or i go bring my main and pwn ya!". perfect example of bullying.

    % surely bullying is more sustained than that.

    * The thing we should concern ourselves, with is not the image given. by the person being the bully, but the impact on the person who is being bullied.

    * additions: well, as we heard runescape's critics, the influx of kids from miniclip are the reason of these immaturity of the playerbase. Miniclip's target audience are for kids, while runescape should be teens and above.

    % But you get bullying at all ages.

    * Even adults bully sometimes, work place bullies. So you can't really blame miniclip too much...

    * Admit it mod french, mod hohbein bullies newbie curators in 1337 :p

    * Though, I recall a friend of mine who is pretty young, saying that a lot of kids play rs in the computer class.

    % I think, that we have to be aware of the difference one off, agresion and sustained bullying. Most players fall between the two.

    * Yes, that's true. How can player moderators tell, without access to the player's entire history of reports?

    * Mind reading.

    * I"ll invest in a crystal ball, great idea;). I'd like to take a more serious look at the issue though.

    % Because each case of bullying is unique, we can't really give any guide.
    Louiellen

    26-Jun-2009 10:48:14
    * Because the ground is so new, we have no procedures, but in order for jagex to keep in step with the international law enforcement agencies on this matter, perhaps we could start reporting without incidents of bullying so that you could build a history for the account. Because that's the only way to.. well, build a history.

    * Is this where threathening language comes in?

    * Yes, and the police issue raised earlier.

    % I'm afraid i can't give any formal advice on this, as it's not something i can decide on my own.

    * How about bullying some of our moddy mates are subjnected to high profile bot busting.

    * Why are we keeping to give jagex the responsibility of parents? It's parent's responsibility to check their children's activity online.

    * because jagex publicly state that they are concerned, and act in their player's bests interest where online safety is the issue.

    % which we do.

    * Not yet looking at that issue at all, i'm raising it now, to get a start on the issue so that we pmods can help jagex achieve its goals. It will also move the game environment yet another step toward something more enjoyable too. But that's just a nice side effect.

    % We do have a community safety team who look, into that sort of thing. so we do have it covered.

    * Well for me, a child bullies his/her fellow child due to lack of parental guidance. I really hate it when some irresponsible parents leave parenting to runescape. Hence pmods, fmods and jmods have to serve as a secondary role as online parents.

    * It could look like that, but i'd rather look at the issue more purely from a persopective of we';re all equal, so don't push.

    % I think all i can do at the moment is raise this issue with the rest of the team.
    Louiellen

    26-Jun-2009 10:48:34
    * I can make a thread and we can start in procedures, that's how we got tbl going.

    % I don't think that would be a good idea.

    * Discussing procedures in procedures is a bad idea?

    * Witch hunting is not a good idea. We are not professionally trained to do this.

    * I'm not interested in a witch hunt at all.

    * I'm more concerned with people who are bullies. and affect it has on those being bullied.

    % I can see your concerns, and i think opening a discussion would be an idea. but unlike in real life, the bullied person has an anonymous line of defense. In runescape, in the form of the report abuse button or the ignore function.

    * They bully with confidence, because of internet's annonymity.

    * It doesn't stop them though, as you should know.

    % once the bully has used up all of the potential victings what do they have?

    * More victims. Jagex.com says it has 150m unique players.

    * Ok, jagex is it feasible to remove all player's internet annonymity? Like most email accounts, when you sign up. YOu give lots of personal info on the form, before able to create an email account. Why not do it also here in runescape??

    % I'm afraid we can't do that. Because the internet is annonymous by nature. and sadly people don't always give correct information. Listen, I think this is a valid discussion, but one for more than just us.

    * What about, special ingame items for those that will register their personal info to jagex??

    % We still can't guarantee that information is genuine

    Louiellen

    26-Jun-2009 10:48:50
    * so you also can't guarantee that information pmods provided are genuine pmod registration then? using the same logic.

    % That's what sending the urn was for. It's not something we're going to do.

    * The idea of submitting my personal details to play a game doesn't appeal. and i think we need to keep in mind that the majority of people who come to rs have intentions of playing.

    % Hmm. not sure on that one. I guess, I can only give the typical update advice.

    * Lol, so only mod fran knows then... ok. She mentioned something more of a return of pmod awards.

    * Anyway, regarding the QA. Shall we see the end of elemental teams?? To be brutally honest with you MOd French, It's really boring.

    % Mod Fran is handling all that, I'm afraid. Tehre are rather a lot of you, we do need to divvy you up somehow...

    * Well, it's much better, for pmods themselves to 'name' their qa teams. Just like the yesteryears qa era.

    % But as I said, that's all Mod Fran's area. More announcements will be made when there's something to tell you.

    * Not this boring 'captain planet' of fire, water, air and earth qa teams...lol. Go Planet lol

    % I like Captain planet. Still, it take all sorts Earth ftw.

    * The QA team for newbie pmods: 'freshers'. Where that name came from?? The Lumby Academy sounds really better.

    % These are voluntary.

    * Encouraged, but not force.

    * I met a guy who is a mod for 3 years and never been to one.

    % Perhaps he doesn't feel the need? *shrug*

    * We could mention when we bump into other mods at least.

    % It would be nice to see more people though. Then you'd be playing the ps3 and not paying attention. We'll encourage all your mod friends to come along. We can't always have Mmg or Andrew to attract punters. ;)

    * I have a message for whoever's responsible for rsch spammers. Please deal with (nameofspammer)??

    % I'll pass the name on.

    * Well, the other day there were couple of players that warned the ranks of rshc "spammers will come soon". I never took it seriously, I thought they were just joking. But they did it??

    * shame the cc kick feature isn't as robost as it could be. I wonder if it's a (nameofspammer) still or someone else.

    % some would claim it was too sensitive (kickfeature).

    * You should have to stay in a cc for 10 seconds, no less (beforeabletotalk).

    * Either that, or the 'right click' kick sent a command that didn't just kick the player out if they were in, but ensured that the kick stuck regardless. So all you'd need to do is right click to grab them and kick when ready.

    % It's an idea. Feel free to put spelling checker I gots, I dunt maik mistakes nay moar.

    * I for one, is someone that really welcomes feedback with what I post. And i'm confident the rest of the pmod community will value pmod forums more if there's more jmod feedback.

    % Well, keep posting them up, I'll spread the word to the rest of the team. Can't guarantee that we'll have an instant response for everything. Ok, comments will be passed on.

    EDIT: This isn't mean to be rude, so I ask that you not be offended by my view on it. Thanks.

    While it's nice to see the effort put into all this, it's not really that useful at all. Why?

    Because it's a *transcript*, ie a word-for-word account of what's gone on. It takes me just as much time to read through the transcripts (And sometimes even more) than it does to actually take the time out of my day to attend the surgery.

    For this initiative to reach its full potential, I don't think transcripts should continue. Instead, I think the reporters should do just that-- report, much like newspaper/television reporters nowadays with interviews. A report (as opposed to a transcript) is just an overview of the highlights, not a word-for-word novel for every single surgery. Hopefully, in a report, most of the surgery's highlights can be placed into one post instead of reading the hugely annoying 3-5+ posts for every single surgery.

    I love the idea of the initiative and the intentions and efforts put into it. However, I know myself (and others I've spoken to) don't have time to sift through post after post for every surgery (and typically, I've only been checking here once a week-- so you can imagine the amount of reading involved!)

    Personally, I don't care about every little joke and all the small talk-- that makes things muddier and even more confusing to me-- perhaps you should clear up things (ie, clarity) and make it easier to use this resource. Report the highlights and the gist of what the Jmods say, but not verbatim every word. That's my suggestion, anyway.

    Hi Stretch1028,

    I see what you're saying, but I think you've been a bit rude in how you've said it. It obviously takes a lot of effort to transcribe these surgeries, since it's not possible to copy/paste out of the game window. Describing the transcript posts as "hugely annoying" seems to me like a bit of a slap in the face.

    Your opinion that a summary would be preferable to a verbatim transcript is a perfectly valid one, but I think you could have expressed it a bit less abrasively.

    Cheers,

    % I know what you mean - sometimes hd makes chat hard to read.

    * If you down-arrow enough, you can do that from here (center).

    % Would be nice if we had an opacity option for hd chat.

    * I know at previous surgeries, an idea about positive reinforcements to discourage rulebreaking was brought up.

    % Positive reinforcement?

    * Of giving players some ingame bonuses, like higher hits or something intangible if they didn't break a rule for let's say 6 months period?

    % Oh i see. Hmm. What are your thoughts on it?

    * Something they can look forward to, and at the very least prevents ppl from rulebreaking. Something like 1 or 2 max hit bonus, for players with 0 offense history for the last 6 months or so.

    * How should it work though?

    % It's an interesting idea. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

    * Lol, Ok.

    % On the other hand, I guess it could be a really good motivator.

    * Because for the last 5 years of the pmod team, jagex use punishment systems. And I really think it's enough time to say let's try positive reinforcement instead.

    % On the other hand, how do we feel about bribing people to be good?

    * Lol

    * Shouldn't have to.

    * Bribe = reward??

    * I won't really say its a 'bribe' imo.

    * Semantics

    % I know we shouldn't have to. Its like the whole 'rewarding kids for good exam results thing'.

    * Less work for you guys. But that may mean, some curators will lose their jobs?? lol.

    * Positive reinforcement is better.

    % You know?

    * I read an article in the news paper, about prison. They reward those that are good.

    % I agree moving to a positive model wherever posible is good.

    * Ok, how about this then, if they break a ruule their max hit is 5. No matter what weapon used?

    % I guess kind of like a petrol station reward scheme.

    * They say it is twice as good as punishment those that are bad.

    % You clock up so many miles of good behavior - you get a price: :0-). Yea, I can see the positives in this idea.

    * Ahh thinking like us now, that'll get you fired, howes.

    % lols

    * I can't remember where i read, but i read somewhere. About something like aprison or school. Where those that are bod don't get punished. But htose that are good get reward. Howes, I used a title you guys mr. jagex mod. I think i want to go back totitling you guys that or miss jagex mod.

    % Lol, You guys seem convinced it's 'them and us' with you and jagex. It's such a pity because we really don't feel like that.

    % So what kind of rewards were you thinking of?

    * Would it only be the ones with black marks?

    % surely those without black marks?

    * How about a new item could be clothing or something nifty?

    * How about you just make it a formula based on the number of blackmarks and their combat lvl??

    % And those who get bms but then remain clean for months. rather like aa chips :)
    Louiellen

    01-Jul-2009 10:38:22
    * If it's a reward people would get black marks to go and get it if its for looks. people will still want it.

    % I guess that would make sense.

    * If it's for looks, people would want it.

    % Have you guys put this idea on the forums? I've been running round like mad this week so haven't had many opportunities to catch up.

    * When does timbo upgrade the totw?

    % Hmm, not sure - end of the week maybe.

    * When will be the news coming.

    % The news should be with us this week i think.

    * Was there a recent change of how cm team operates, regarding how you reply with pmod queries? I observed with my queries, not all have been replied, yet they got actioned though.

    % No, no changes. We aim to reply every one. Perhaps we have a bug where query reply get delayed in being delivered.

    * Can you do me some clean up? Count to 35 b4 day is over, in joint moderator lound funorb. Needs a lock, the author wants it locked.

    % Post on forum help in inam funorb and a jmod on funorb will sort that.

    * Well, sad but true. Funorb pmod forum and joint lounge really are ghost towns.

    * can i post at inam there, eventhough i still below 42 achivement?

    % Ah you're f2p. No ok, I'll sort it.

    UK Surgery on Wednesday, July 1st at 2:30pm est

    Those in attendance:
    Jmod Mat K
    Killer15
    Keen68
    Yogirasu
    Jodie
    1true Angel
    Mystress
    Ingmar War
    Sunny Earth

    The meeting started on time. After all the "hellos" & a few comments on our sitting positions, some questions were asked:

    Angel wanted to know "something about the rest feature", saying, "it's a pain when resting in lumby, when you report you stand up & people have clicked on to the fact you reporting...I did send in a bug thing as wasn't sure if it was."

    Jmod Mat stated, "Oh, I'll make a note of that...nice one...any more questions today?"

    Angel stated, "I see alot of people in lumy world one saying 'wonderfuckland' & I'm not sure if I should report it or not."

    Jmod Mat, "Not unless they spam it or use it aggressively. You can ignore some guy using it once."

    Keen asked, "With all due respect, what rule do we report spammers in a cc?"

    Jmod Mat K, "I was just reading that thread now tbh. You report as you would any other spamming; but, things are working on ccs to make that not an issue. We are working on things, yadda yadda yadda. There won't be an immediate solution, but when it happens, every player will cry with glee."

    Jodie asked, "Mat, what you are all working on, does that include kicking those who jump in cc, say ugly things & jump out fast?"

    Jmod Mat K, "It will deal with everything."

    Jodie asked, "There was talk last month about something in the works for this month relative to the nasty names. Is it still going to come out this month?

    Jmod Mat K, "Wait and see. Have we had an update this week yet?

    Ingmar War, "only the ge page. No other game updates."

    Mystress, "No game updates this week, it's on forums.

    Jmod Mat K, "Well it's not going to be this week then."

    continued...
    Jodie

    01-Jul-2009 21:06:42
    continued...

    Keen68, "Can we expect something good soon?"

    Jmod Mat K, "Do you have $2? or f2 or 2 euros? I was going to say if you had 2 of something moneywise, you could expect an ice cream from the ice cream shop. That's good." (laughter occurring)

    Jodie, "Why the secrets?"

    Jmod Mat K, "We are always secret. And have you ever known me to give a straight answer?

    Angel, "You should be a mp then. lol"

    Jmod Mat K, "I would, but my values are not low enough. Oops, did I say that out loud?"

    Mystress, "Did my mail get sent to bug team?"

    Jmod Mat K, "It did."

    Mystress, "Any idea if the data is helpful?"

    Jmod Mat K, "I haven't had any feedback on it I'm afraid. However, everything is helpful. Thank you for taking the time to send it."

    Darren asked, "Are you able to tell me if my message got passed onto Mod French?"

    Jmod Mat K, "What message?"

    Darren, "One I sent yesterday. Stevew said he passed it on. I just wanted to double check."

    Jmod Mat K, "Did you get a reply to it? If steve said he had, he had."

    More friendly conversation occurred and Jmod Mat K spoke of j-mods being like stalkers, with MMG being the worse, leaving notes on his desk and everything.

    Darren asked, Mod Crow's recent figures suggest that we lost 129 pmods last week. Is something up?"

    Jmod Mat K, "Nah, just a confusion."

    Jodie asked, "Does that confusion mean we did 'not' lose 129 pmods or we did lose them because of confusion?"

    Jmod Mat K, "The confusions means that we will lose them in about 5 minutes. BTW, you might want to check your inbox. (time elapsed) Only joking. We didn't lose 129 pmods."

    Jodie, "glad u can laugh at my expense. :p"

    Jmod Mat K, "I can laugh at anyone's expense. It's a skill I have."

    This is when I left meeting; perhaps another can fill in what else occurred during this surgery.

    Ah, I see what you said, Mod Jon, and I'm sorry it seemed that way. I'll put an edit in my post making sure I didn't intend it to be rude. I was just trying to say that honestly, this initiative has very little practical use to someone like me if it takes me 45 minutes to read through a week's overview of surgeries. To me, a word-for-word transcript doesn't clarify much. I'm sorry for my other post sounding rude, and to Lou, I didn't mean it to come across as such. But I do hope you take my comments on board to improve this great idea.

    2nd of July 2009: Australian Surgery: Hosted by Mod Timbo:

    * I'm a litle lost lol, about jagex policy on clan sites. Oracle and official rules are kinda contradicting each other.

    % HOw come?

    * WEll Oracle says you report without a mute or don't report at all. Rules say you can easily get banned for it. The short version is the leader of my clan wants to make one and he doesn't know if he'll be able to tell address. So he asked me and i have no idea.

    % The rules don't say you will get banned for mentioning it. But the Oracle is always up to date, I'd follow that.

    * Well he'd have to say full url

    % There isn't a problem _really_ with people mentioning genuine clan sites, the problem is phishing sites disguised. That's why it states report, without a mute and we'll do the checking.

    * What if non-mod reports him?

    % Exactly the sam as if a pmod did. Not a problem.

    * how inactive do i have to be before i get demodded?

    % Yeah, pretty heavily inactive. Even then, it's unlikely that you'll be demodded without being contacted in your inbox.

    * The thing is, I'm kinda leaving in-game indefinitely. And um... Forums well i'll be around a little. It's in the thread "hellow and an update on me". I'd really want to do something for the rs community. But i can't go online much anymore, cause of school and goals. So yeah, I can't really help moderate, so probably lose the crown eventually. But hopefully i will still have it until aug 11th. Aug 11th is my 3rd year as a P-mod, for those that ask.
    Louiellen

    02-Jul-2009 11:03:28
    * If you leave us, you can get back the crown through pmod recommendations, so no big deal. Just concentrate with your rl goals first.

    * Why don't you temporarily revoke your mod-status. till a later date?

    * True, but I tell you, I probs won't be going on rs much at all. Like if i can keep myself from logging on rs. Like ingame (not the forums), then i probably won't go on runescape for acouple of years. If that happens, unlikely but who knows. Cause getting into the uni course i want to go, it's impossible if i'm on rs.

    * I went through a similar thing last year. I understand and your education must come first and foremost.

    * And anyhow, I don't want to change until at least 11th of august.

    % There's not a lot i can say really, cept for good luck with your coruse, really:p

    * I think my timezone guide is the only thing that's holding me from completely removing myself from the net.

    * Just an observation. Seems like paul m is not active recently. Is he still with Jagex?

    % Of course, he is. He's just incredibly busy.

    * Paul has hay fever :(

    * Ok, good to know. We end up hearing someone left, without announcement (before). Like Mod Pud before.

    * Pud did announce though did he?

    * Nope, we knew he left through a surgery. When I asked the question. It's at the transcript, if you wanna read it.

    * Me and my sister are both mods and want to make it known that we as girls would like to have the availability of mowhawks for girl characters.

    % Erm, ok :p I'll pass it on ^^

    * Why or are you allowed to tell us, why australian servers are currently offline, and have been for the day??

    % I was off yesterday and only just got in at the start of the surgery. I'll ask around and get back to you. Be a little patient:p

    * Um is it possible to actually move from pmods to fmods? LIke i know others did, that in the past - just curious?

    % It is possible

    * Clarifying something here, but have you had any issues with items going missing because of afros?

    % Non that I've seen. Nothing the bug database either, or well bug e-mails.

    * Just getting the story straight here. Guy put a white afro on, logged out, logged on, bought a torag's helm. Then when he put the helm on, the helm disappeared but the afro stayed on his head. He says he's put in a bug report.

    % Well if i can't find it, it would have been classed as not a bug.

    * What do you mean timbo?

    % I can see all of the bugs we get through, and if it's not there, we tested it and it wasn't a bug.

    * Maybe we should ask Hohbein, if there's anything wrong with the fros.

    * Ok the afro seems to be stuck on this guy's head too.

    * Like he took off the fro and can't get the helm off??

    * Maybe the helm didn't like going on a white afro.

    % You know the
