The whole thing is a bunch of bull shit created by the media to make money.

What makes it probable that the world won't last for 10 more years?

I hate people discussing the 2012 topic. Whenever someone I know talks about I tell him/her to shut up. If the world is about to end 2012, what about the other premonitions about judgment day? The world was supposed to go under 2007, 2008 and 2009. Consider that.

Agreed for about 50% of that post.

Alot of people thought on 6/6/06 the world would end.

*On a side note I was watching the history channel and a TV AD For this website came up http://www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org/

They are trying too give people "chances" before 2012? And alot of other BS.

A lot of nutsuckers thought that 2000 would be the end of the world. Last I heard the mayans didn't want to bother writing on another stone which was reasonable since they were killed off 1100 years prior to the end of their calendar.

The only evidence i've seen is a very advanced computer that predicts stocks. Supposedly there is going to be a devastating crash in 2012, comparable to the great depression. Which I can see possible as we are currently leveling off but arn't changing our habits which should lead to another plummet.

This topic just makes me furious.

Humanity just cannot accept things that are very obvious and blatant.
There is no god. The world wont end. Michael Jackson is dead. Bob Barker is an asshole. Hollywood sucks. There is no Santa. You weren't the "1,000,000th" visitor and DIDN'T win any prize.

I personally don't think it's true. Just, seriously, look at it. Incredibly hard to believe. But, alot of people are going to commit suicide that day, or the day before. So either way, alot of people are dying.

Good riddance, if you ask me. Not to sound cold, but the world is overpopulating, and it would be good to eliminate some idiots from the gene pool.

I'm not sure about the "alot" though. I'd be surprised if more than a few, if any at all, do it. These people who (supposedly, as your claim must originate somewhere) say they will are probably more talk than action.

It's all just a rumor. I mean all these people say "its when the mayans calender ends" it ends because they stopped writing it. Obviously they had to stop sometime.

Social darwinism (not to be confused with actual darwinism) isn't all that bad. Yes, it's bad for individuals, but future generations would benefit from it.

Before you call me a nazi, I'm not promoting ethnic purging or anything. But you have to see both sides of the argument. Modern humans are effectively halting evolution to a near stand-still because weaker individuals are more likely to reproduce, that's a fact.

Well let's see.. The Mayans believed in astrology which is clearly proved wrong by science.

    Therefore, no. It's complete garbage.

I thought this was suppose to be the intellectual section? Why is this even being asked?

No. I don't believe it, why? No proof.

I don't really think it's weaker people who are producing more, it's people with more intellect who are reproducing more. If you look at it that way, evolution isn't halted; were going to get smarter as a species in general.

This discussion is very appropriate for this forum. If it was restricted to topics that are universally accepted, it would be very boring.

Are you serious? You can be a complete moron in today's society, and still be able to reproduce.

I don't believe in Mayan prophecies.
    I prefer Christian ones.
Most of them have come true already!

I don't believe it. Seems like a conspiracy to keep people from being bored.
