[Denied] Stop advertising banned users.

Stop advertising banned users on Discord and on site until their bans are lifted. Use common sense and think of the outcomes that could possibly happen regardless of the reason the individual was banned.

Use your brain. If the banned individual went on to scam right now as a BANNED user and you have 5 moderators and a banner at the bottom of the site advertising for him you would all technically be guilty by association.

I 100% agree with this. I always report users when I see they are banned and still have their user title that's actively advertising their thread/website.

using your brain is not a requirement to be sythe staff. please do make them feel uncomfortable and scared when telling them to do such.

not to mention sythe staffed ALLOWED a minimum of $21000 to be scammed by a former admin just because of his title. but if a regular user does one thing wrong they are banned/dnted 1 second after being reported

 

Imagine clicking on banner in mods profile/bottom banner/top banner that redirects you to some sythe user discord server and then you ask that user to show you vouches and he links you his banned sythe profile KINDA FUCKING CRINGE.

I think this was brought up before already. But obviously yes this should be a thing, on sythe banner advertisements/user profiles.
If people are advertising a banned user they should be able to report their post or profile and the banner/advertisment in question be removed.

It's tricky when you look at stuff like discord tho, do we hold advertisements on user statuses also accountable?

Further to @Zora 's comment, I don't think this can be looked at in a black-and-white spectrum.
Realistically, if we're talking about whether or not someone should be able to advertise, it should be a discussion of how ethical it is.
Which then becomes a question of how the advertiser themselves feel about advertising someone that's banned.
Again, we're talking about people that are banned but are not DNT'd, therefore they haven't scammed anyone, and aren't a serious threat to the community. They're banned because they did something wrong and they need to be punished, but that punishment is they're banned and can't bump their threads or interact with users etc.

No support, simply because I think it should be up to the person/entity advertising, whether they're OK with advertising said company/person.

 

Like ABM, I initially thought this was referencing perm-banned or DNT/scam-related banned users. I'd agree with this suggestion in that regard. Ultimately, I share the same thoughts as @Sound. I think the waters get way too muddy and would require a case-by-case evaluation to determine whether or not temporarily banned users should be allowed to advertise. At that point, fairness and enforceability become a problem.

The vast majority of users who sell advertisement space have a clause that allows them to revoke their agreement/contract if the user becomes banned or DNT. At that point, the advertiser has the right to make a judgement call on whether to remove the ad or not. Someone mentioned a specific user above, which raises a great point. I obviously have his ad running right now and could technically remove it and face no repercussion. Given that he paid for it and based upon the circumstances of his ban, I feel that it would be unethical to remove the ad though. Had it of been for scamming, blackhat, DOX, etc. it would be gone the second I saw he was banned.

Given that doxing is only a temp ban on here, I would say there are some temp ban offences which are serious enough to warrant being refused to advertise on the site.
