Moderator Activity Requirement

I must agree with this, but if the current Moderators are somehow able to get all of the reports down to just 1 or 2 pages, then the Staff should be able to regulate their activity so that it won't get back to such an extreme.

And after a while of doing them day after day after day, the reports become quite irksome and repetitive, and you seem to loose that feeling that you're doing it to help others, but that you're beginning to do it as a slave almost.

I've tried this, but not all e-mails come up. I was hoping that perhaps someday an e-mail search option could be added to Sythe, in which users MUST add a valid e-mail with their Sythe account, and it to be public for other users to see. In adding this e-mail, they must also confirm it by checking their e-mail's inbox.

Sadly enough. I still don't feel proxies should be allowed on Sythe, but users can still change their own IP fairly easy, so it's all useless in the end.

Well then, how about stop enforcing the "spam" rule unless it's very serious spamming. Half the stuff people consider "spam" is just rubbish, but does not seriously affect the thread.

For example, if someone posts "Haha, good luck selling." that's not really spamming but more like being an idiot. It would be more appropriate if spamming was limited to posting several times in a row, or saying something 100% off-topic.

There are users like; unbanned and myself, that are on 6 hours a day..
It's all very well and good to get side-tracked on this website, but being a mod does mean clearing spam/scammer reports. If it was open to the public to do them, then it would be a different issue.
Since it’s a moderator assigned job; then they should be doing them more productively.

It shouldn’t take a thread like this; to get them to realize/moving on with the job.

This being said, spread them out evenly, don't have one person doing 10 pages by them self every week.
You Mods say you didn’t get signed to do spammer reports, but when I got assigned to be hired at a restaurant as a chef, I didn’t expect to have to clean tables at the end of the night.
It's part of the job. Deal with it.
And as matt said, you aren’t getting paid. But I’m sure like myself, and many others on this sight, they would do it without money being an issue.

If you don’t want too, then resign and let someone else take over.

Other than this issue, the moderating is very well done.

And this isn’t a very big issue, but it is an issue none the less.

 

Hopefully we can get a couple administrators on this thread who agree with the userbase. There is nothing hard about 20 - 30 minutes of work per week. Moderators, such as Chase, are becoming overwhelmed by the sheer inactivity of staff in the report forums. Soon he'll stop doing them all together, because a collective effort is necessary.

 

Who are we speaking of that should step down due to inactiveness?

 

I didn't mean it like that at all, what i meant is that if they knew they were inactive, didn't do much etc. They wouldn't take it upon them selves to get them selves demoted.

 

Let's avoid naming, SuF. I don't think any of us want to paint a larger target on our backs. No one has to step down, rather some should consider what the community is asking. 20 - 30 minutes donated per week.

No it doesn't. I don't have to do them. I didn't have to ask for permissions. What you the users say about what we should do means nothing.

Public can not do them because they need experience and judgement.

There is always drama when it gets about 10 pages... I've been around for 4 of them... Then they get done and people calm down.

Everyone does some.... I did like 10 reports today when I got reallllly bored of working... Then I had to get working again... >_>.

I am a volunteer. I do the work I want to do, and nothing more...

You can not say that because you are not a mod and have never done them.

That will not help. I am not going to resign because the user base thinks I am a sucky mod since I do not no life spam reports.

I don't give a shit what the community wants or thinks. I care about my section because it is the section I visit most often. I catch things in there long before they hit report a spammer...

OK I realize that your section is very dear to you, but shit needs to be done in other places also.

If I were a global, I would have to do shit in other places. But, I'm not so I can't nor have any reason to.

But aren’t you moderating for the users? If we send in a spammer report/ scammer report - then we expect it to get done. Or resign.

Assign a certain amount to each person.

They should be done and split evenly throughout the mods, to get them finished.

If I volunteer at a pet shelter, I'm not just going to do the work I want. I will to the work that needs to be done.

Just because you're not getting paid, does not mean that it isn't a job.

I know enough about the rules, I’ve been here long enough and I have enough judgment to be able to do them.

It's all well and good for you to mod you're section, but take time to do the spam reports as well.
