For 1... freedom of speech is just that. It's the freedom of speech, not the freedom to hear what you fucking want.

Sythe is based off of a democracy, as much as it's denied. The act of voting to ban/unban members, the state of ruling, etc. Sure, in the end, it's Sythe's site, and that's very totalitarian, but a majority of the way this site is ran is in a democratic way.

The censoring of the 'N' is because a majority of you are not intelligent enough to realize that it doesn't mean anything, and that you shouldn't take offense to things. Therefore, to prevent trolling, flaming, and even more idiocy from those who TAKE OFFENSE TO THE WORD they filtered it.

It's not an act against those of us who know it's just a word, it's a censorship for those who have no concept of mind/matter.

Plain and simple. It's to protect you from the idiots .

if this is a non-violent democracy, why not have a poll about the word? let the people decide. my feelings on this subject is it shouldn't be censored, nor any other word. the only problem with that is the idiots who would make threads such as "Why N****** Ruin Our Economy." i think a lil racist joke never hurt anyone, but theres a line where it stops being funny and starts being fucked up.

 

The thing wrong with the rapper part, is that they dont say ******, they say *****. Two different words. 6characters is an old term, used as racial slang. 5characters has a different, yet same meaning. It is modern, mispelled, and isnt directly trying to be racist. That doesnt mean that it is, but when people use that word normaly, its either like waddup *****, or in a rap song.
Im white and i have been called a ***** many times by spanish, indian, black, and white friends.

Anyways, I personally don't know anybody who is offended by the word, but I'm sure there are many. However, I don't see the difference in the words "******" and "Faggot" etc. There are more words that should be censored as well if it's been blocked simply to protect people from being offended. Faggot is used way more than ****** on this forums, by the annoying 12 year olds who recently found out what the word means.

 

If I was admined, I'd remove the censor. I don't agree with censoring anything but harmful/annoying links.
