World War III

Do you think it will happen? Why? Why not?
Who would be the instigators?
How long would it last?

Personally, I think the concept of a full-scale war at this time period is ridiculous, because of the weapons we have nowadays. A nuclear war would end in about a month, and the results would be devastating, and then there is the things that our governments don't want us to know about, like Neutron bombs, or EMP.

Probably not. Modern countries would not only not allow it to happen, but shit would be dealt with before a war would break out. Then again, the last time a nuke was used in real-time war was with Hiroshima/Nagasaki in WW2. We now know that most developed countries are all looking in to nuclear weapons technologies and development. Like you say, there's also secret technology that is possibly still in untested prototype stages. When could a WW3 break out? I don't know, but I wouldn't expect it within the next 30-50 years. Who knows what'll happen afterwards, we already know that places like North Korea and Venezuela are threatening other countries with military action if released as well as undisclosed events occur. It's scary shit, but nobody can truly say when it can happen. As for length, a WW3 would be like a true realization of a global-scale Cold War, meaning nukes all over the place and different countries launching their shit to eradicate other countries. Within a few launches, opposition would be crushed. There is still production as well as carefully planned strategies as well. Assuming that WW3 would come as a surprise and additional weaponry would need to be developed during the actual war, then I'd say maybe maximum a year. If it lasts any longer, we'll be using rafts to get across oceans and throwing rocks at each other as opposed to using modern weaponry. So, to say the least, we'd be fucked up the ass.

 

Well. I'm kinda worried about the North Korea and USA now. If North Korea is honestly stupid enough to start a nuclear war. The results would be devastating.

But the other countries joining in? No I don't think so. It'd be a big waste and nothing to gain.

 

No idea, the world of politics is very complicated and anybody could turn out to be the aggressor in a nuclear war. I don't see nuclear war happening any time soon though. A World War, maybe, but certainly not nuclear.

And everybody knows about EMP pulses, they just wipe out electronics, nothing special.

 

Nothing special? Wiping out electronics is kind of a big thing. The damage that that thing could do.

I'm more worried about the USA being stupid enough to start a nuclear war. You know how the US government is... 'I have a bigger dick than you' 'No you don't' 'we're going to bomb the shit out of you cause we have bigger dicks'

 

Just think about wiping out the USA stock market with an EMP.

Damages that would happen is a lot.

But Nathan is kinda right. USA has always been easy to insult. They'll probably take this the wrong way and blow Korea out.

We'll just have to see what happens I guess. There's a chance that nothing will happen as Obama is the president now though.

If we start WW III it will either be because of nukes or terrorists. I would say Russia, England, or Korea would start it. Maybe some other country with nukes. Or Iraq, Iran, Isreal. It's going to come down to a nuke stand off..probablly another cold war if it doesn't get out of hand.

All this secret stuff will start something somewhere down the line.

That's called a civil war..and I don't think every country in the world is going to go into anarchy.

 

There wont be a world war 3. If it gets to that level the world will end because it would be a nuclear war.

 

If there is WW3, America will win. North korea doesn't have the size to stand 10+ nukes.

 

10+ Nukes would take out Korea, and then some. The US has enough nuclear power to destroy the entire world.

Guys, if you had enough electricity and a degree in electronics, you could build an EMP device in your garage. It's just an electromagnetic pulse. The range is only limited by the amount of "juice" you have. I wouldn't be worried about EMP devices taking out the stock market. I'm pretty sure stock market info is saved in databases far away from the trading floor itself. The only thing to really be worried about is a nuclear EMP device, but at that point you have an adversary with nuclear capabilities and you wouldn't be to worried about the survival of your electronics.

 

I'm kinda worried about that. If they drop ONE nuke on a base of ours that has nukes, that'd be like a chain reaction and most likely wouldn't end well.

 

It will eventually happen, but the advancement of technology and these rules that are created to ensure nobody does things that are too harsh (Yeah, killing people and going through a poor village and shooting every man, woman and child in sight isn't fucking harsh enough) will eventually be broken. The contest of dick-waving will then begin.
