I was under the impression the entire management staff was arrested.

 

Any source on that?

@Wortel was the name of the detective guy before you. Like 5 years ago he was super duper active but had some issues with staff and ended up quitting the site.

Video made a post about it last year. I could be wrong but I remember originally some covid shit was tossed around but eventually it came out that they were arrested.

Among other things he was HEAVILY against DNT (iirc). I think he saw it as giving people (scammers) a path back when he worked very hard to get them blasted off the site.

The irony is he got me banned as well for evading lol (pre-DNT)

 

This isn't quite accurate, though at the time I was definitely more against it than I am now, I think the implementation was made very poorly and Richard did things quite wrong just because he wanted to get his point across. There were a lot of people who got unbanned that shouldn't have tbh which just ended up rebanned, there was very little to no community discussion and he pretty much just made the decision because a few people from the spam forum wanted their friends to be able to post on the website again (lol) and because Bus369 said he knew people people who wanted to come back to the site but were being blocked by the pardon system (mostly scammers lol.)

Richard's treatment of his staff in this period was also pretty poor as evidenced by the fact that so many left around this time, including some that I talked with quite a bit and got along with quite well. I recall that he made a quote about staff leaving which I made into a thread that was something like "we needed to cut down on staff anyways" which I thought was very disrespectful towards so many individuals who had dedicated their time to the site over the years, especially those I considered friends to some degree.

Ultimately I see that the pardon system has been changed and those changes seem to do quite well, I think the original implementation should have been discussed much more with the community and staff and I think the pardon system reform should have been more of a focus than DNT, as well as not just randomly applying it to tons of morons as soon as it came out as some sort of trial, but making them apply for it or something along those lines - similar to what is done now.

That being said the website is still around, though it doesn't seem that popular, and is largely dependent on a dying market (rs) so Richard is doing at least some things right even if I (and many others) haven't always agreed with his decisions, so he obviously has my respect for doing that all this time as well as trying to make the website evolve with the times to be sure it survives. Even if he can be a bit off an asshat, lord knows I surely said some rude things to him during that time as well but hopefully he knows I don't have any long standing dislike for him.

Additionally that time period in my life is when things got a bit busier for me. I also lost interest in the website due to the fact that it was pretty much just me getting rid of the same few recycled scammers over and over and the fact that the website itself seemed less active, and i'd never been much of a market user myself so that part of the website wasn't keeping me here either. I did stick around for quite some time before it just felt like there was no longer any reason for me to really even stop by, so I stopped doing that.

I guess in short it wasn't entirely DNT, but a lot of things including just my loss of interest in the website.

I vaguely remember reporting you, but it's good to see you seem to be doing well and still around on the website and are actually a reformed member of the community.

Very funny that this randomly gets asked about/brought up now, as I just had reaccessed my Sythe account for the first time in ages a few days ago and didn't plan on coming back again after that initial reaccessing really, but stopped by to look at something quick.

Not to go off-topic but I don't see what DNT was brought in for, scammers / undesirables that wanted to come back to the site and socialise again (be it in the spam forum or whatever) then they should pardon and refund whoever they scammed. People who are happy to dick about on the site (say the Spam Forum) but never use the market again - the DNT system is pointless.

 

i quoted the wrong thing person lol. I was talking about won gold. My bad. Ya i knew yousuckv2 had left ahwile ago. He was never given a chance to be a mod. He worked his ass off for it.

 

As you said, this is a bit off-topic, but DNT has been remarkably successful in getting scammers to repay their debts in hopes of being allowed to return to Sythe. I'm sure there are other threads in Feedback or similar sections discussing this at further length.
