Is this website allowed to run? (serious talk)

I saw this website from a recent youtube video are we allowed to sign up here and do the selling and buying of runescape gold and accounts? Is Jagex not being very strict about this website? I like the look of this website just worried if Jagex traces it to my runescape account has this happened to anyone?

I do not want to be kicked off the website for making this thread post I just wanted to ask seriously because I never knew such a website existed

The purpose of Sythe.org is to enable the congregation of gamers with similar interests, and to provide a platform for those individuals to discuss topics of interest. If they choose to infringe upon the terms of service for Jagex games or other intellectual property, it's their choice to do so and they are fully responsible for the consequences of their actions.

For your general protection, I always suggest censoring any usernames or personal information that you may use off-site. Anonymity is always a good practice to keep.

 

Good idea this website sure looks like a lot of fun though I did not even know people sell gold for real I thought they were all scams but from what I just saw on this website it's actually a real thing and people service accounts on runescape too? wow!

 

Do be very careful in the market. There are MANY users who provide satisfactory services for gold sales, account sales, training/skilling, questing, etc. However, there are also some users who will scam users in various ways. The staff of this site work daily to address issues that may come up between users, but ultimately we can't PREVENT a scam because we aren't mediating any trades you might want to make. Only users with good business sense as well as common sense will be able to avoid getting scammed.

Other users offer "Middleman" (also called MM) services, where they have proven their trust over years of activity, thousands of dollars in transactions, and hundreds of business vouches. I always recommend hiring a middleman if you're not trading with a veteran user.

You may never truly know, but you can avoid scams by reading the stickied threads in the market sections. Generally, there's advice on what practices reduce the likelihood of getting scammed, or else the safest way to conduct certain types of trades. I would also recommend talking to users in the discord to see what their best practices are for keeping safe; the community has some very helpful individuals.

But you can usually know which users are more trusted in the community by checking out their vouches, and examining their account maturity. Typically, users with high post count, older "Joined" dates, and donation statuses are more trustworthy than new users with low post count and low site engagement.

Now, donor ranks are a good way to know if a user is invested in the site, and that typically shows they're straight users. However, we do not give badges or ranks that mark a user as "trustworthy" because the staff of this site will not endorse any users for risk of being blamed if that user scams. We will, however, mark users who we deem to be untrustworthy with "Trade With Caution" ranks, and we will strictly prohibit a user from engaging with trades on sythe by marking them with "Do Not Trade" ranks. If you see a user marked with TWC or DNT ranks, you can click on the rank and it will link you to the reason they received those ranks. This is where common sense will help you. If a user is DNT'd for being in debt with another user, you probably shouldn't trade them.

While not illegal, Jagex are perfectly within their right to terminate your account if your in-game username is posted here and they see it.

That being said the site has been going since around 2005... so it would have been shut down years ago if there was something illegal going on.
