How has covid impacted your way of life?

How has covid impacted your life? It has been around 7-8 months since covid was announced as a global pandemic. During that time the world has shifted into a near apocalyptic state of confusion and lifestyles everywhere was affected. How was your life affected?

For me I lost my highest paying job I’ve ever been employed to, currently 2 months late in backpay for rent in my current apartment, and my 2 of my family members have passed as a result of the virus. With all that bad news, I am starting to see a slight recovery in my life. I’ve been working at a new job for the past 2 months and I’m slowly working my way back to paying any debt I have. Since then, I’ve been more into spirituality as a form of coping with everything that has happened and I’m eating more healthy as a means to stay mentally stable and be more cost efficient when it comes to my expenses. Overall, with all the bad that has happened, I can take away positives from it.

It’s been interesting for sure. I’ve moved from going to work Mon-Fri to not working at all. Maybe 1 hour a week total from home since February. (Yes, I still receive my normal paycheck)

Nevertheless, I do miss the gym. It’s been closed the entire time and home workouts are boring.

Extremely sorry for your loss, I lost my grandpa and most of my family have COVID-19 right now.

Hope things get better for everyone.

Sorry for your losses brother. I personally lost my grandfather back when Covid19 was at it's peak. Couldn't travel at the time either, so I feel your pain...Life's a rollercoaster man. Just be patient and have faith. Everything will come back together, and maybe even better. Just put out positive things in the world and you will receive it back.

I have been very lucky, nobody I know has gotten it. The only thing affected was that some places closed for a few weeks and we have to wear masks to some places.

Saved more money. Lose weight. Better job.

Mostly a positive change, definitely a net benefit.

How has covid impacted your way of life?

    I think I'm so lucky.

I moved to China a few years ago, and I was traveling SE Asia in January when things first started to get serious. At first I was gonna wait it out around Cambodia and Malaysia when the main outbreak was only in China.

My girlfriend is Chinese and it was becoming more complicated for her to apply for Visas. She does not have the same privilege a British passport brings (visa on entry to many countries, or no visa required, etc).

Decided to fly back to China with her in the middle of Feb. I remember this feeling pretty nerve wrecking.

Did our 14 days quarantine in a hotel. Then had several months of STRICT (but necessary) lockdown.

It possibly turned out to be the best quick decision I have ever made in my life.

    To list a few:

    - A few weeks after I returned, China closed its borders.

    - If I didn't return when I did I probably wouldn't have been able to see my girlfriend for 7-8 months.

    - The UK suddenly got out of control and most of my friends who left SE Asia to return to the UK/USA are unemployed and are now struggling emotionally and financially.

    - Despite the news and politics at the moment, contrary to what many may believe, I am very much welcomed here and local government officials even bent over backwards to help me extend my visa, despite me having less than 6 months of validity left in my passport.

    - I was able to renew my passport from here despite the challenges caused by COVID. Several of the UK government departments and helplines failing to communicate for about 2 months, etc.

    - Life is pretty normal here now. The only difference to the 'normal' we knew before, is that many people still wear masks, and we have our temperature taken sometimes in the entrance to some places.

    -----------------

It's still been a challenging year for me, but I understand and appreciate how lucky I have been. During lockdown it was quite stressful, and I took some time away from everything, including here.

The last time I saw any of my family was in August 2019, and who knows when everything will be back to normal again. Coming to terms with the reality that I might not see friends and family in the UK for a few years has been quite difficult, especially when this was on my mind a lot in the lockdown period.

It's not as simple as me jumping on a plane to go and see them. I have built a life here, and have responsibilities. I can only make the long journey when things are better in the rest of the world and worldwide travel recovers. At the moment borders can suddenly close without warning for months on end, and of course there is the 14-days quarantine.

Most importantly, there's the risk of catching and even spreading the virus to many others. I would feel incredibly guilty to make such a journey and risk spreading such a virus to several others, especially more vulnerable people.

I hope everyone is doing well, taking it seriously, and being responsible. Use this time to do something different. Learn something new. If you are able to financially support yourself, take a break, etc.

Amazing story glad everything worked out for you Liam :) I definitely believe if all countries handled these issues the same way as Asia did that the pandemic will dissipate much more swiftly. Hopefully you will see your family and fiends soon! The pandemic has not changed much for me as I am basically a hermit unless I am exercising :p

I'm now working from home permanently at my current job, and I really don't like the set up. But I'm still fortunate enough to have kept my career and my income moving along.

I'm also gaining a bit of adipose fat because I'm not walking around and the gyms were closed for so long. I'm finally getting back out to the gym to fix that, and I'm already starting to peel off those layers.

How has covid impacted your way of life?

There's been a lot of challenges but also a lot of hope as well, in a way I feel that 2020 has been the best and the worst of times so far. Right now I'm spending even more time on the computer than I did before and ensuring that I can keep generating and building the ideas to secure a better future for many.

My condolences to you . Don't let it get you down. Remember that a black line is always followed by a white one! Personally, my life has completely changed for the better. I started eating right and exercising. I spent more time on my development. But the best part is that I met my girlfriend. I felt that online dating works, really. I already have an ex-wife. And I found it hard to believe that dating after a divorce is still possible.

My job went full remote for the indefinite future, so I've been working from home since March 2020. Overall pretty fortunate—I do miss traveling, eating out, etc but I can't complain. All the extra time has been great for reading and learning new skills.

    Happy New Year!
