Refund scammed GP to IRONMAN.

I been thinking about this scenario and couldn't think proper way this would be handled.

Scene:

Ironman account gets accessed by scammer, various items would be stolen and drop traded to scammers account. Amount itself would be relatively small, but items themselves are very long grinds to obtain, let's take a example - rangers boots.

Now, the guy who drop traded, gets caught with a solid proof and wants to refund the scammed amount.

How would be this handled? I mean how can one refund to ironman? Doesn't seem fair, that these ranger boots would be given to normal alt account or 20 usd(40m = rangers = gold price) would be sent to bitcoin.

In some ironman builds, rangers can take hundreds of hours to be obtained. So I'd say, scammer has to obtain stolen items or there would be some agreed price to be paid between fraudster and owner.

Thoughts?

 

I could only think of 2 things.

1. The scammer refunds it by getting back the lost item manually, by playing on the ironman(could be a bad idea because you're giving back access to the account).

2. The scammer and the victim would negotiate a reasonable amount to be refunded. (e.g. the scammed item is 20m, but the scammer and victim decided on a 200m "refund" due to the item requiring a huge amount of game hours to obtain)

 

most disputes would just literally tell them to refund a pair of ranger boots sadly enough rofl.

 

I've seen disputes where iron men items were stolen and the one responsible for it needed to refund the g/e value * 5 or something

We'd probably find some financial settlement in the scenario you described. It's hard to give a blanket response as each scam report is a little bit different.
