just got my test back and spoiler, it sucks ass

 

Whats the process since you've got it? You just sit at home hoping you recover?

Are you taking any medication and have they been useful?

1. No severe symptoms yet. Surprisingly I don't even have a cough and I'm breathing great. The other symptoms really blow but so far it's manageable.

2. I was in a car with 4 other people, one of whom I didn't know very well. He tested positive about a week ago and the rest of us a few days after. Can't stress this enough-- this thing is EXTREMELY contagious. Like more than you would imagine. Every single person who was in the car with that dude and every single person who was close to me (before I knew I was sick) over the next few days got it.

3. I'm not scared right now. I'm pretty fit, only 25, and eat healthy so I'm in a good demographic. The uncertainty is the stressful part because I've heard some horror stories even for people like me.

Basically been sitting at home. I called my doctor and she doesn't have any advice for me unless I start to have trouble breathing. I'm lucky (in a morbid way, I guess) to have two best friends who also have the virus so we're going to quarantine and focus on getting a lot of rest. There's no treatment needed at this stage, as far as I'm aware, so we're focusing on drinking insane amounts of water and putting a lot of healthy food in us.

It does. I think it's hard to conceptualize how fast something like this can spread until you experience it first hand. Literally EVERYONE I know of who was in contact contracted it. One person gave it to me and my two friends, then everyone we knew got it because we didn't know we were sick then, and so on and so on. The scariest takeaway though is that, unlike a cold or flu, no one seems to have a first line of defense. My roomie who hasn't been sick in years caught it.

I'm in the U.S. so I have nothing good to say about the response really. My state isn't processing unemployment and opened everything up way too early. It's a shitshow :/

was the person who got you infected showing symptoms at the time? How long does it take for the symptoms to show up, and is it gradually appearing or does it just come all at once? How do you think you actually contracted the disease (touching the same object, coughing, etc)?

 

Hope you get better soon with a speedy recovery, the brain plays a big role in everything we do.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that don't let it get to you and busy yourself with something good and productive.

Just let it run it's course you will be good.

Thx my man. I was in a car with a few people and everyone got it from one dude who wasn't showing symptoms at the time. After 3 days I had very bad fatigue, and the next day I felt definitely sick. I think fatigue is the telltale sign in my group.

Ah dang, I hope you get to feeling better, man. So what symptoms do you have? You mentioned that they were not pleasant at one point, I believe? Thanks.

 

Do you think that it will effect you longterm? Do you think that it has taught you anything about diseases and such, if so what have you learned? And I hope you get well soon buddy.

 

I have a seemingly mild case but the worst was on day two or three. The fatigue comes in waves, and when it’s in the upswing it’s like you’ve been awake for two days straight but you can’t sleep, and also got lightly hit by a truck. Random joint and muscle pains. Very sensitive/painful skin all over. Complete loss of smell and taste (literally can’t even detect cologne I just sprayed.. smells like air.) Luckily no respiratory symptoms. It got better after the first few days though.

 

I’ve heard anecdotal stories about long term affects but It doesn’t feel like I’ll experience any. It would be nice for my sense of smell to come back tho lol.

I learned that drinking a lot of water and eating healthy food/electrolytes actually does heal you faster. I’m also planning on continuing this improved my lifestyle after this is all over. To answer your question, I think the biggest takeaway is just how contagious this disease can be. Everyone and I mean everyone I know of who was in contact within the incubation period got this thing, even people I never see get sick; and that’s just the ones I know of.
