Witnessed someone getting an RWT Ban

I spotted this player at the GE the other day wearing full Inquisitor armor at level 80 CB fletching bows out in the open. I looked at his overall hiscores and only 3 of his skills are ranked with an overall total of 400-500. He kept boasting to other high level players whether if he should buy a Scythe of Vitur or other high value items. The guy started getting attention from other players and he started giving them GP, Abyssal whips, etc. People questioned how he got his GP, and he responded that he got them through bonds.

The guy ended up getting banned a day or two later. Couldn’t find him on the hiscores anymore; username not found.

I’m not sure sure exactly how— But I gotta say that it was probably because he did RWT and attracted too much attention from people. Either someone must have reported him or his account ended up getting a manual review from all the trades he made that night.

I also note that maybe Jagex ban rates for RWT is still the same even during COVID19, so we should still be careful.

Yeah, possibly. Hoping that could be the case. I wouldn’t want our trades to be closely monitored.

 

Through bonds seems kind of bullshit lol. He'd need 215 bonds (at current price) to get a Scythe itself. Bonds are 6.99 each, which would come out to $1,505 (if he bought one at a time.) The odds of someone spending $1,505 for a Scythe is... ridiculous. Doesn't JaGex also have a limit on amounts you can spend in the store nowadays as well?

Thats crazy... Do you happen to know RWT ban lengths for buyers?

 

From what I’ve been reading in these forums, it used to be a 14-day ban for buyers. But nowadays, I think it’s a perm ban regardless. Correct me if I’m wrong.

However, just practice safe trading habits to reduce your likelihood of being caught with RWT. Buyers rarely ever get banned and gold gets traded in very high amounts on the daily. It’d be difficult as a buyer to be caught if you’re buying <200M every now and then.

RWT is a permanent ban boys I can confirm that! Sad to hear about the guy, definitely a waste of time in the end.

It’s always a hit or miss whether it’s truly worth it or not.

 

People boasting in video games aren't the smartest, if he got banned he deserved it for pushing his luck. If he changed his name then, oh well.
