[DENIED]Suggestion about combating scammers

Why don't we have sellers / buyers have to give their passport or ID before they can buy/sell gold this way you can actually find out who they are so you can report them to the authorities and bring them to court?

 

Who would want to put his passport id on the internet only to buy RSGP ?

Shops can require whatever sort of ID they want. Sythe is not a shop.

Platforms benefit from large numbers of people being on them. Anything that prevents that is bad for the platform. Sythe is a platform.

This is a little bit of a simplification but you get the idea.

 

This was suggested and denied multiple times before, such as here: id verification. Won't be happening.

 

No support. This is a free market, identification isnt necessary to sell something unless someone requires it on their own during the sale of an account or something.

Proper management of such a program would be a pain, ID's that are being photo verified are hardly difficult to fake, would likely affect sales and amount of individuals paticipating in the market, it's counter to Sythe's relatively hands-off approach to the market, there is very little reason to trust almost anyone here with your ID, and the list goes on.

No support for a multitude of reasons but the one that I will say as it's a free market if you don't feel that the person you're trading is trustworthy than don't trade them.

Devil hit the nail on the head therefor I do not feel the need to paraphrase this exact statement.
The only thing I would add is that try to think of this as the RS Craigslist.
Also due to staff being a voluntary position and having made large mistakes in the past many members would not feel comfortable with them having this information. (Sad truth and doesnt reflect my thoughts on all staff)

Anyways, no support. Having to give ID just to buy GP sounds reaaaally dumb and would just have people avoid making an account cos there's not a single site that makes you do that as is, they'd just migrate to a different market.

 

As Wortel mentioned, this has been suggested before (I want to say more than once, but not worth spending time searching) and was denied.
