[Denied]Runescape Account Sections

Simple suggestion: apply a moderated section, must be approved to be posted similar to the gold selling sections.

Prevents all the account sellers with no pics/ constant ban evaders selling the same accounts.

 

How does this prevent them from posting? If anything it makes our lives harder as we'd have to: check the unapproved post, tell them to fix it, keep checking it sporadically because people never @ us, wait for it to get reported again, and then either approve it OR go through the whole cycle again. I prefer the current system where some people read the stickies and we only have to message maybe 1/2 after a user reports their thread.

And how would it prevent ban evaders from selling the same accounts? There's no way we can possibly check whether an account has been offered for sale on Sythe previously.

If anything, I'm in favor of getting rid of rules instead of adding them; I want the site to provide the ability for people to sell things but not the necessity that they do so in "our way." Personally, I think things would work if we stopped posting on all those threads requiring pictures and whatnot. Ones without them just won't sell, and that's okay. They'll learn, update their threads with pictures, and things will work out fine in the end.

 

It will not prevent ban evaders from posting i agree with that it will stop them posting without pictures and sometimes them pictures are sometimes the only proof needed for someone to report them for ban evasion.

I think newcomers to sythe are not always familiar with trading online and safe trading practices and they pm these account sellers with no information displayed and get scammed such as the recent one with Lord Divok.

surely if we can do our best to avoid scams happening it will make sythe a better place

Also why is the moderated status on gold selling and not account selling?

 

The account section of sythe is one of, if not the, most highly used/browsed/moderated sections. Very rarely do threads last long without meeting picture requirements.
Not only that, but there are very few buyers who would attempt to purchase an account with no pictures from a user with no visible element of trust. Yeah, I'm sure it happens every once in a blue moon, but you're making a straw argument on that one.

Good intentions, but no support @Superfluous' points.

 

1. LD had pictures on his thread so I’m not sure how that’s relevant here. The guy who got scammed was an idiot for sending $1,000+ to some random user without using a middleman, but this suggestion wouldn’t have prevented that.

2. Moderated status is generally introduced to a section to prevent it getting warmed by spam bots. Imagine 100 new threads every hour. If anything I think we should consider relaxing it.

 

Hmm maybe, just maybe but I think it has been suggested before - Mods for the specific area?

I know there are market mods etc, but generally speaking.. We had a security mod rank etc, which I think @moe dealt with?

 

No support, unlike gold selling this would require many many threads should someone want to sell multiple accounts that at different times, which would require a lot of staff time. Account buying and selling is iffy as it is anyways, if you aren't confident don't buy it. And I agree with the last part of @Superfluous post.

 

This would be too difficult to moderate
