Was the removal of Astro's OMM rank the right decision?

After reading all of this, I've come to the conclusion that Astro has an ex-admin rank and is therefore clearly mentally ill. His OMM should have been removed way earlier...

I don't really agree with stripping @Astro's OMM rank. A warning would have been fair... and they are even offering to pay the victim out of their own pocket. Poorly handled issue.

 

Hey guys, I've just stumbled across this while searching the forum properly for the first time. I've spent a good 20 minutes reading all of it.

Can I just weigh in and explain that as someone new here - I think it would say a lot about the platforms loyalties if they allowed the person scammed to go unpaid just so they could "justify" taking away his 'official' status (again, not too clued up how much this status actually means, but it does seem to hold a lot of weight by reading this thread).

If the rules aren't clearly set in stone for him (or anyone else) to follow, then that reflects badly on whoever is setting and enforcing those rules too. If the rule IS there and isn't being enforced properly, then that is still the same issue.

I think if this is truly the first issue he's had of this nature, surely logic says that he pays for his mistake, gets a strong warning and redeems himself. It should then hopefully give whoever is in charge of the rules and enforcement of OMM's a kick up the arse to make sure this is fully enforced and not one rule for one and another for others.

Tl;dr: People above @Astro have to do their jobs properly too, the blame doesn't all just drop in Astro's lap IMO. If you want a certain standard kept, set it in stone and enforce it equally across all officials. Let him pay the poor guy and take his warning fairly.

Edit: I also know that my opinion has absolutely no influence here, I just thought I'd share my thoughts because I spent so long reading this.

Simply put, he shouldn't have been scammed in the first place. Astro should have had better procedure to fulfill his duty as an OMM.

I find your choice of words throughout this thread is disgusting towards video. How dare you accuse an individual and speculate absurd accusations based on your personal agenda. If you don't agree with those who hold rank, than leave sythe, theres a reason video is an admin, and you are not.

This thread was made to get community input and debate what the correct course of action regarding the situation is, lots of people are disagreeing with each other so what is this whole point that everyone is saying that your referring to?

Not sure what you are trying to say with this, the guy who got impostor scammed wouldn't of gotten scammed if he actually read the PM that Astro sent out as the Discord Chat wouldn't of matched and Astro put his Bitcoin Address in the PM.

Not sure what you are trying to say with this either, considering literally everyone in this thread including me agrees that he should be sending better PMs but the way Video/upper staff members went about this situation is not the best option when Astro is willing to pay the guy who got impostor scammed, a firm warning would of been enough.

I don't care how you find my choice of words throughout the thread, the facts are Astro has had his OMM rank removed and Bogdan who basically sent out a similar PM still has his rank not to mention I don't agree with his decision on this at all.

??? Just because they're an admin doesn't mean people can't disagree with them, can't tell if you're being serious or trolling.

 

as I stated before, there is an exact PM template that is mandatory to be used. It includes both parties UID for discord.

 

If this is the case can some mods please explain why Bogdan's OMM isn't removed then he sent me a pm that didn't include my discord or my uid and when I told him thats a bad pm he said you send it then. Him not acknowledging it after he was told is worse than what Astro and Mootrucks did.

 

whoever is accusing me of not doing a proper pm when mm is wrong, first of all its out of context as that pm wasn't for mming at all.

I was selling miniranks to golduck. If I remember correctly he wanted me to pm him about our deal, this was on 8/19/2019.

Having spent a while reading all this I think I’m equipped to add my opinion!

I think Astro and every OMM should do everything they can to ensure their customers do not get imposter scammed. We all should when trading... I’m new to sythe but as stated before OMM rank is the hardest rank to get and with that rank you should be whiter than white when it comes to trading and preventing potential scams. Astro could’ve done a bit more to try and help this guy not get scammed. Although Astro hasn’t been helped here with the other guys inexperience in trading and unfortunately the trader and Astro have suffered here.

Having said all that my personal opinion is that he should receive a warning at and be allowed to keep his rank. In the future everything should be in black and white and stated that if an OMM breaks any of the rules laid out then he/she will have their rank removed. That way there’s no come backs or disputes.

Are u dum? Your trying to make it look i send a bad pm when mming when in fact the pm I send u wasn’t for Mming a trade. I was selling you miniranks anyone can see that. I can send any user any pm I want when taking with them When I am actually mming I send the proper pms format.

 

Astro wasn't MMing a trade when he lost his OMM rank.

 

I think the OMM removal is justified.

If you're unwilling to use the simple private message template, then you shouldn't be an official middleman.

That simple.
