    Hey all,

I've noticed that a fair few recent scam reports regarding runescape recovered accounts aren't being listed in the below sticky for reference.

List of accounts NOT to purchase; click to report recovered accounts!

I understand that it's the users responsibility to follow the code and report the name for it to be updated on the topic but as per alot of the stickied threads it seems to be overlooked quite often.

    I guess my suggestion is,

When a valid scam report is submitted and found to be malicious that mods direct said victims to the sticky so they can post the information for others instead of a generic final reply?

    Thanks

I'm on the fence on this one. I hate the idea of manually updating a thread several times a day, so I guess I'm a no on your original suggestion but propose this as an alternative: We could ask people to include the login of the account in their "report a scammer" reports, which makes all of this info much more easily accessible from google searches. The biggest downside I can think of is that it gives Jagex faithful a shortlist of accounts to ban; maybe this is a bad idea after all.

Perhaps the best option is to do this semi-automatically. Matthew might also be able to make a tool that populates a thread automatically given a username and link to a scam report (which staff could provide after closing a report). If there's interest we could ask him about that, but I think this is probably outside the top 20 things we'd be hoping for in the coming months.

We're not going to start updating the sticky as a habit, but we do encourage users to post accounts there. Staff will try to do a better job keeping track of these things to help resolve disputes.
