Oxygen - Will It Run Out?

as long as there are plants/animals on planet earth it won't run out. animals breathe oxygen while exhaling carbon dioxide. plants take in carbon dioxide releasing oxygen. trees aren't the only thing that make oxygen

 

I think theoretically it is possible, given our rate of consumption and production of carbon, however the chances of it happening are fairly remote.

 

1 tree can produce all the oxygen we need -.-

 

Sythe in saying what you did, whats the percent that it grows (faster) say if the ratio was 2:1 carbon to oxygen. Why don't people make carbon dioxide chambers to grow plants in.

They do, upon reading peoples responses (especially Sythe's), i'm starting to remember what i learnt in school lol.

I did happen to watch a documentary in school where they grew plants in a controlled environment where they pumped carbon dioxide into the area to help increase the plant growth. Next time i'll try to think through the next topic that i feel like posting hahah .

 

Co2 and o2 levels do change over time, but it will take a cataclysmic event for their not to be enough oxygen.

When Co2 levels are high, more o2 is produced. The equilibrium is not perfect, but it will always be gradual and no one will be suffocating to death by any means.

Oxygen won't run out any time soon, we get most of it from the ocean, not the rain forest.

 

lol yea. but that theory fails in a couple of ways. One if that did happen we would be le screwed, and 2 global warming is a bunch of bs.

No offense to global warming activists but it is a load of crap. The temperature of the earth fluctuates all the time. Ever heard of the Ice ages? Yes... you have.... don't lie to yourself we all have. Ice core samples have proven that the earth global temperature fluctuates all the time. Global warming is not due to us. Yet the temperature is rising. I doubt it will kill the algae but if it does, well... We better stop chopping them trees =P

 

We cause abit of climate change, no where near as much as they say we do.

All there predictions given to media are all exagerated to make people fear mor.

Oxygen won't ever run out, Because if ever we get short of it, We would do something drastic actions to counter balance the problems, We would be able to tell of the problem if it ever arised like 100 years before+.

 

The only way it can run out is if there is no more plant life, which can only happen if the ozone layer is completely removed and burns all plant life. If all plant life is destroyed by global warming, it would not matter because humans would burn to death as well, meaning that it doesn't matter if it runs out because we would already be dead of burning to death.

 

Well unless we kill off every single tree on the face of this earth...No, we wont.

In the beginning of time there was very little oxygen around anyway so oxygen must of been produced from somewhere other than plant because the ice age wiped out most of the plants anyway, so there has to be another source somewhere else. Plus scientists can make oxygen by splitting the particles in water (H2O).

And particles can be changed but not destoyed, therefore the oxygen can't be destoyed just changed in form.

 

As long as i ahve all these marijuana plants around me, im set for oxygen!

Like he said, I think we have ALOT of other things to worry about. Global Warming, Weapons of Mass Destruction, just to name a few. But yes, at this rate it seems our Earth's supplies are gonna run out. D: TOo bad, maybe we'll all go live on Mars, that'd be cool!

 

We get our oxygen mostly from trees, and plants, so as long as we don't cut down every single living organism on the planet, then we should be good.

 

As long as we have trees there's nothing to worry about
