Simple orange theme

A theme I made for my university project (html/css course) with a little bit of php & database. This is the first time I actually develop a website from scratch. The main goal behind this project was only visual attraction. And it ended getting me about 80% of the project's mark.

Visually, I’d say orange and yellow are a bit hard on my eyes personally. The text blends with those colors so that bugs me.(But that’s just the orange part.) As far as the formatting I actually really like how it’s all places together for the opening page.

I know this is a bit of a old thread for you but I was wondering which class you actually took for this and did it prove beneficial after the fact?

I ask because I personally am not trying to get into this professionally but would like to free lance graphics and templates for it and seeing this example is kind of a learning experience for me.
