You ever pressed the backspace button because you weren't sure if a moderator would take offense to what you were about to post? I'm sure you've been as nervous as I. We're a community of cheater's, yet the rules are tighter than runescape itself. I think mod's should be a bit more lenient towards things, especially if they aren't against the rules. I also find it hard to state my opinion all the time without getting an infraction. Some mod's are fine. But I mean, some are just a bit too strict when it comes to infractions, I don't think finn know's how to even give someone a warning. Now, please don't infract me for wanting to be bad-ass, or for perhaps insulting finn (it was just a joke).

Well, I guess that sometimes they can be a little harsh, but that is why they made the Dispute Forum, did they not? I guess that all the Mods could just be jerks and take the Dispute Forum away, but then the site would quickly die, in time. =P

 

True that, but still. Sometimes, I express my opinion. And a moderator will ban/infract me just because it's not the same opinion as theirs. And talk to me about the Dispute Forum? I hate the place! I've been banned mistakenly 3 or 4 times in total...and unbanned within a day. It's always been a stupid moderator...other than the time shredder made a mistake (he's cool ).

 

I think they may be a little to strict also..

I saw someone get banned the other day for 1 month, because he joined in November and had 450+ posts.

 

Staff would never ban him just for that. He probably had numerous infractions for spamming.

 

He spammed the off-topic section with ridiculous posts. It was also a temporary ban. Get your facts straight.

 

Yeah, but a 1 month ban? Isn't that a little much?

EDIT: Oh, Nevermind... If he had been infracted or warned multiple times, then it could be different.

 

Staff here are very strict in my opinion, I posted in one kids thread in the spam forum with just spamspamspam about 100 times i posted "spam" probably more. I have seen other people do this before and thought it was ok, well I got a temp ban for flooding, I mean comon people post animated gifs which floods the server a lot worse than just some useless text. That was the reason for flooding the server and slowing it down or some shit like that. I mean warn me, infract me for gods sake but I think a temp ban was too harsh.

I agree; Mods do try to be badass. You shouldn't be afraid of getting banned for saying it..

As long as they follow rules though. I mean you can't go on a flame spree and expect not to get in trouble.

 

Yes, I know there are some cool mods, who can take some constructive criticism without freaking out. That's why you're on my respect list...your cool bro.

 

Some Mods actually help us try to beef up our posts.

Simply typing " 10/10 good guide" or " omg wtf XD " something like that is now concidered spam because it truly is a horrible post.

Mods do their job to keep this place alive. So let them...

Now tell me how that is constructive to a thread? Mod's do keep people in their place, but quite a few of them also prevent people from speaking their minds. Too many times have I heard, "I can't say all I want to for fear of getting infracted".

 

Depending on the rule you broke, the penalty will either be a warning, an infraction, or a ban. I don't think moderators should abuse their powers in a situation that offends them personally, since a single person cannot accommodate and acknowledge everybody's way of thinking in a single post. If Finn's way of moderating bothers you, take it up with him or in the dispute forum. If you think he had a valid reason, then, just trust the moderator's discretion.

 

I believe Finn posted that comment on his staff thread not on the general forum. If you have a problem with it, don't view his thread. Simple.

Anyways, I don't really find Sythe's rules too strict; most of them are really common sense. Plus as a vetern of Jagex - ran forums ... You wouldn't believe how much freedom we have on Sythe.

 

What are you talking about...you were some RSOF mod? You guy's were suck up noobs..well most of you. My Q.A. Leader was Paul (I was unmodded on request), and he's completely hilarious and lax. You must have had a bad leader mate, I feel bad for ya. Our whole team were just old school Runescape player's, and I still am aloud to join in on Q.A. Clan Wars, and other mod events even after I was de-modded. Rab, merlin, and lightning come once in awhile when they are sick of WoW, and they've never been P/F mods. I guess it all just depends on how cool your leader is.

And about the rules, I don't mind Sythe rules. I'm meaning when the moderator's emotions get into things, or their own personal opinion.

I want to laugh at what Nathan' said. But last time I wrote something like that I got infracted. I'm serious too. I wrote, "lol, you two are funny", and got infracted.
