what is wrong about the shin/bert situation

so basically bert paid shin $1000 usd for 40 hours of coding for a discord bot, long story short over the span of months only 27 hours of coding was complete, during this whole time bert constantly asked shin about when he can get the bot done etc.

longstory short from multiple things that made shin feel like he was being personally attacked he decided he was no longer going to finish doing berts script, he then proceeded to tell bert that he will refund him a total of 325$ for the remaining 13 hours of code that weren't complete, since bert wanted the bot to be fully complete he didn't agree with this decision.


he and bert then rebutiled for quite a long time never able to come to a agreement so shin decided to post the most recent report he did: Bert / GP Casino Dispute
video then proceeded to say that since a agreement was not properly formed this should be made a 50/50 agreement in terms of shin refunding bert 500$, shin then proceeds to say (which can be read at the report) that he expects no less then the amount he is suppose to be paid for the services rendered. then while a reply was not even granted yet by sythe admins in the report, shin proceeds to have the audacity to tell bert that ALL the code is done now and he will need berts credentials for the VPS to upload the new code.

Bert at this point of course wants nothing to do with shins code so tells shin that he would like a fulll $1000 refund. because with what shin is trying to do its easy to presume that bert is now entitled to nothing since the code is complete. however at the end of the day if your in a business agreement and you cant meet proper terms, it makes no sense to suddenly complete the project while a refund process is still being decided by sythe staff.

This leaves bert in the dust, with no refund and a bot for a clan that suffered months of having non working elements that are essential to the ability to be a productive gambling clan ( the raffle bot to give customers a incentive to bet and the join/leave system to let them know when new members join the server ) shin came in vc and tried to spew a argument in his defence that even if this was all complete it wouldn't do much due to the clan abrupt activity and while this may be true to a extent, if someone pays you for something it has to be done, if i told shin i'd like a bot for a gambling discord that never opened, he is still required to complete the code for me that i paid for. i don't see how the status of berts establishment has anything to do with the allocation of time spent coding his bot.

Agreed. One other thing that a lot of people are overlooking is that this is probably a direct result of Shin losing to me in Sythe pool 5 years ago. He's been off the rails ever since.

Big time, however; this will serve as a reminder to set up contingencies in all business deals moving forward.
A expectation of timeline’s should have been laid out by both parties, if those weren’t met, refund should ensue.
It appears there wasn’t a clearly defined expectation. Though I can empathize as to why there wasn’t one (it’s only 40 hours of work)
It still should have been set up regardless.
BUT even still, any business in the real world should offer a full refund for such a horrible time of delivery
