Been buying gold since 2012, never got RWT ban. It seems more risky to sell gold than buy it.

 

If you follow all safety instructions bans basically don't exist when buying

1. Never buy from 3rd world
2. Never buy from people that use throwaway accounts
3. Actively play the account (duel arena doesn't count)

There are many countries like china/pakistan/venezuela etc..which are monitored more closely by jagex. Trading with them is more likely to flag your account

 

I have bought and sold tons and never had any problems at all. I have always used a aged and quite old account tho.

avoid trading in f2p avoid gold farmers from countreys that are monitered from jagex , i always ask them to come in their mains tbh not a throwaway account. add random items in trade like blowpipe ect or random barrow items

Buying reasonable amounts of gold(500M and less) is quite safe, risk of ban is quite low, Jagex mostly go after the flippers, not the customers.

 

There is a small small chance, but usually you would be fine even trading 1b its rare for a first time buyer to get banned.

 

so there is still chance of being banned... thus OP may get banned, which is his question, and thus safe depends entirely on what his definition of "safe" is.
