    Getting music off my iPod?

Alright, I've got a 5gen iPod movie (yes it's called iPod movie, not video) and recently I was forced to reformat my computer, thus losing all my music, photos, and files. Me being lazy I don't want to go and download all my music all over again, saying this I know iTunes wont allow me to take music off my iPod.

    Heres my question:
What is the program you use, and most reccommend for taking music OFF the iPod safely, taking album artwork, music, videos, and photos off? Preferrably automatically importing it to my iTunes.

    Thanks:D

Tbh I dont think there a safe way to take files off of your ipod, however Apple sells a product that allows you to do exactly that for a rediculous price I have no idea what its called I have just seen my friend do it

Learn to back up your shit... get a sperate hard drive to keep your stuff and dont keep things on your hard drive that your OS is installed on, so if you format you dont loose anything.

And hard drives are cheap as shit now days. $130 for like 500gb?

Are you using a mac or windows?

With windows, getting your stuff off your iPod is quite easy, no program required. Ill try and walk you through the steps as best I can; I've never done it with movies/pictures, but I do it with songs all the time.

First, go to your 'folder options' option in the control panel. Go to the 'view' tab, and under set hidden folders/files to viewable.

Next, go to my compter. Press on your iPod drive. You'll now see all the hidden folders in your ipod. I cant remember exactly where your music is located, but I think it is in the folder "ipod_control". It will be broken up into different folders with wierd names, but luckily when you load it back into iTunes it should get all of the names and album artwork back. Your music and photos are probably in the same place.

If you use winamp, you can manage your iPod files with much more freedom than iTunes

Your computer doesn't recognise your iPod? Or your iTunes doesn't recognise your iPod?

If it's your computer that doesn't recognise it, that's really wierd... I have no idea what would cause that.

    Getting music off my iPod?

It started to recognize it today, but I don't want to go in and mess with all the files that could potentially FUBAR my iPod >.< I'd much rather a program that'll rip the music from it

I see where your coming from. Really though, the worst you could do is erase the stuff on your ipod, and you'd have to do something really stupid to actually do that. Its really just copying files, as long as you dont change anything, nothing will happen.

In the event that something did happen, it would only affect the software end of the iPod, which can be fixed in minutes by getting iTunes to restore your iPod. This just deletes all of the music, photos, etc. Its impossible actually 'break' your ipod from the computer end just by playing with the files.

Once you plug it into your computer, you can "sync" it.

    Getting music off my iPod?

I've seen all the guides, but if you read what I've posted below you'll see the dilemma I've been faced with.

    Wonderful news!
    Not.
Ok, there are apparently some songs on my ipod that are corrupt and whenever I try and copy files from "F16" to "F49" they wont go.
They wont transfer to my "My Music" file. I've tried iDump, and SharePod and neither will work!
    Any suggestions?
    I don't want to have to re-download 2100 songs :(
