The scammers on this site will incite new scammers

I have been scammed 4 times already on this site. It is getting really old really fast, I have followed what the sticky posts tell me to do and I still get fucked over. The last scam I was involved in the member had been here for 10 fucking years. It's getting really hard to not say "Well, if you can't beat em, join em." Are you telling me there is no way to brainstorm a new method of having safer trades?

 

Sadly its the account trades that are fucking me over more than GP buys. I train the account, get good gear on it and then the dude takes the account back and I'm left with nothing.

 

My suggestion to this would be making a fresh level 3 account and paying for services to get your desired stats. You'll be the OO without the worry of an account being recovered

 

Going by past mistakes, stay away from account sales then.

Sure, services cost more but are more reliable and less hack-able.

 

I have never seen the appeal to buying accounts although I do understand why people do it, at the end of the day we're all breaking the rules none the less lol. It's just a shame some people are scum bags and like to ruin the fun for others, so i'll continue offering honest services to those who wanna play ball xD

 

When I first joined, I had a user recover an account I bought. It was knowing I could get straight into where I wanted to be, without the wait. In hindsight and being in this community longer, you get better at weeding out the *ahem* CKB's of sythe.

I'd rather wait the extra weeks/months for an account to be built knowing I'm in control of it than risk recoveries. Of course this doesn't apply for everyone on here as there are the honest users.

 

You have to buy from a trust worth seller. Look at voucher etc. I bought my account from a Sythe Mod. Don't buy from users that newcomers that say Selling maxed account for 100 osrs gp. You can tell it's a scam. Why would you want osrs gold if your selling your account !!!??.

 

Some people do sell for OSRS GP to sell on for many reasons - avoiding PayPal chargebacks, invest into another account etc. But yes its often a case if it's too good to be true, it is. Some people just have an unfortunate run of events

 

i'm going to basically repeat what many have said previously above, dealing with random people on the internet unfortunately means you will get scammed, not only on Sythe but also anywhere else on the web.

As someone who has been scammed myself many times before, I tend to build relationships with a close group of users who I trade with continuously. Although this won't eliminate the chances of me getting scammed (since this is the internet) it will certainly reduce my risk.

I suggest looking at 4 main things for people you want to trade with, especially when buying accounts.

1)Join date on Sythe
2)Donations/Mini ranks
3)Vouches & recent trades
4)Followings on Discord/ Social Media / Website

Don't get used to the idea this is Sythe's fault for the scams that occur, there is only so much that can be prevented even if staff introduce new policies/rules. Even if new rules were introduced, scammers would still find new ways to get around it so it's a continuous cycle.

 

I looked at every scam report you made. I'm not judging trust based off of post count, but you willingly trusted people with little to no feedback, and with as little as 30 posts. You would think someone would learn after the first, or second time. But with you, that does not appear to be true.

Let me change your philosophy for you: as long as there are people like you willing to blindly trust randoms, scammers will flourish.

Educate yourself and you wouldn't have this problem. Same goes for 90% of people that get scammed.

 

I obviously second everything that has already been said. Honestly, there will almost always be a risk when dealing in black market OSRS trading. You can reduce your risk to nearly nothing by practicing safe trading techniques.

Aside from that, keep in mind that OSRS accounts are by far the easiest way for someone to scam and the hardest to protect yourself against. Account scamming isn’t a Sythe issue. You have a high propensity of running into that no matter whers you purchase from. I.E. playerauctions, accountwarehouse, etc. Matter of fact, I’ve bought from all of them over the years and have found Sythe to be the safest. Good luck man!

The first scam the user had 10+ vouches, the second was a stupid mistake sure. The third was a 10 year old scythe account, what more do you ask of me?

 

10 vouches is literally nothing, and can be amassed in a day or less.

Depending on the quality of the vouches, you could literally get ten vouches in an hour or two if you wanted.
You really can't just look at their forum account age, or their number of vouches. I wouldn't trust someone with a 10 year old account, no forum posts, and no vouches. Nor would I trust someone with 100 vouches and an account join date of September 2019.

You have to take all of the factors into consideration and make a judgement call based on their entire "risk profile" more-or-less (I'm a risk manager IRL.. lmao).
Again, make sure you're weighing in account age, forum activity (posts), vouches (quality of vouches as well, I.E. all gold trades? any services? how about account sales?), donator status, etc.

Forum longevity is a very important factor in determining trust, but only if the user has been active on sythe. Otherwise it doesn't amount to much.

Bro there's no reason to get scammed if u follow good secured steps ,
so easy just use OMM ! and only buy acc on things thats can be recovered from VERY TRUSTED MEMBER only

 

I agree it's hard for new people to not get scammed here my main advice would be to never believe anything an user claims about himself. Literally everything you see can be faked/bought. Best way to stay safe is to ask trusted/active/respected people for recommendations because they're the only ones whose vouches really matter. Any idiot can farm thousands of vouches by going first to people or just making fake accounts, but you can never buy respect.
