Removal of Discord Ranks

A $500+ Donator group was added to the Sythe discord, not needed. Just like Overwatch Verifier, this is just another useless rank. There was already a donator roll that was visible if you chose to click that user's profile.



-It is above more important information. Ex Staff, TWC, DNT.
-It is just yet another avenue for new members to be thrown off by a false sense of trust.

Stop adding dumb shit. Continually we have heard that staff wants to minimalize risk for new members, yet these "ranks" are given to people and allow more visibility to them.


Just like this. This isn't a rank on Sythe, what the fuck does someone who has been on the site under a year know though? Either it's a platform that replicates the Sythe marketplace , or it's a shitshow that we make fake ranks and give a false sense of trust to all of the new users. You choose.

Agree and Support. If theres gonna be one for $500, there needs to be intervals reaching that ($100, $200, $300, etc). Kinda weird/fishy to just add a $500 one when we've never had one before. Just to incentivize people donating up to the $500 for a discord rank.

If anything, we can add a $500 Minirank on Sythe. It doesn't show any trust or draw attention to the users that have the rank. It would still be rare as only the $500 donators would have it. Also it would obviously be un-tradable.

Here's how this suggestion is going to go (since I'm a fortune teller). The 500$ donors will say that it should stay. The non-500$ donors will say it should go. A staff member, most likely Richard, will close the thread saying it's a necessary perk for 500$ donors since they help fund the website.

 

So why is it not necessary for a $400 Donator, $300 Donator, $1000 Donator rank to be added? If its *so* necessary for the $500 discord rank, why not any others?

 

I don't really care about this suggestion as I don't really have an opinion on it, but I imagine it's to incentivize more people to become 500$ donators. Just a guess.

 

Precisely! My initial post on this thread mentioned that. Which I understand is marketing, but also can mislead people to believe these $500 Donators with a special rank in discord (above Ex-Staff, TWC, DNT) are to be trusted - which isn't the case.

Which is why my suggestion that these donators get a special MiniRank is more appropriate than giving them a discord rank that is poorly located above important to know ranks.

 

We should be looking for ways to educate people about what is trustworthy rather than going about it like this


500+ donors get basically nothing for donating the extra. This is a thank you to them.

 

What is the difference between a $100 donator and a $500 donator? Each are contributing to the community, you are accommodating to the minority rather than recognizing the majority.

Like a $500 donor will ever miss the chance to bring up his donor status to his customer regardless. I see ths suggestion in the way of necessary progress the forums is headed towards.

 

Although donating has nothing to do with reputation it does show a certain level of appreciation to Sythe.Org in general. Why would you screw over people on a website that you've made generous contributions to. However it was pretty odd to see a $500+ donor rank on discord not gonna lie. I actually felt some type of way when I was it like wtf but its not really needed to say the least.

How does $500 donor rank in discord add any risk to new members is what I wanna know?

I mean believe it or not a high level donor is less likely to scam than a regular member or lets say a $25 donor. Not sure if anyone has ran the numbers yet but more than likely it would lean in the high level donors favors.

 

No support let them have their rank it makes no difference if it's in a discord or the site people will know their donation status anyways and it's a good incentive for more people to donate

 

We added the $500 donor rank to the Discord as another perk to the higher-tier donors. The users with this role have to request it from a staff member and be verified on Sythe to get the role.

There are a few extra roles on the Discord that have next to no meaning and are there for entertainment (Some are created by Richard himself, the others are created by the Admins). We will be keeping the server boost role as we would like to have our server boosted and its a great incentive, we will move Ex-Staff above the $500 donor role though.
