[DENIED] Make RABE private @ w

As title says. Scam reports should not be made private for obvious reasons, but ban evader reports really should. In those reports, you are basically telling the ban evader what they are doing wrong.

“Similar names” > ban evader learns and uses different name

“Similar thread styles” > ban evader learns and applies different style to his threads

And so on and so forth. What do you guys think? Would love to hear @Wortel his opinion on this.

 

This was previously discussed and also denied since the ban evaders/scammers deserve to know what they're being reported/banned for. Making them private will make it harder for the user who reports it aswell, since you won't be able to lookup previous reports which are sometimes helpful in cases of new ban evaders.

The ban reason usually says "ban evading [link]", just "ban evading" as ban reason won't suffice since the user is allowed to see what he's being reported for.

 

I mean doesn't someone know if they're ban evading? So If they get banned and evading is the reason why would the posts need to be public. Unless I am missing something here.

 

Private reports create more work for staff as we have to explain what the user was banned for twice instead of just once on the report. A user will get banned, open up a dispute thread about the ban and we will then need to explain their ban reason along with proof so that they can have a fair attempt at disputing it.

This goes against our public adjudication process and creates unnecessary tension between staff and regular users. We might be telling users what they're doing wrong, but we are also providing clear evidence as to why they are being banned. There are of course a few exceptions to this and we still do occasionally have private reports but this is because of seriously sensitive information.

 

I was going to suggest this awhile ago but didn't think it would get support (I do agree with your reasoning as to why they should be made private)
