Let's get rid of PR

the idea of PR was put in place for a reason by Richard. CDT focuses on the current community and PR focuses on outreach to get new members.

I see that a common complaint is that while we have all of these different social media, different members own them and thus are inaccessible.

1. Track them down. If they’re inaccessible, just have a long-standing active admin, s/o @video , make them so when PR members leave, the account can be passed down. Because I’m assuming Bolt owns the Insta with 80K followers so that is probably gone.
2. 3 month leader terms. Have leaders be voted every 3 months. You can be a leader for multiple terms, but this way if a leader is inactive, they’re able to be voted out. I believe CDT does/used to do this. This should give the PR a natural kickstart if it starts to experience any lull periods.

I understand everyone’s criticism, but there is no need to trash it, just add a better structure to establish a culture of accountability

 

Guys as per the social media accounts, Richard is the only one with access to all of them. The last stint I stepped up as leader until I handled the reigns to Bolt I had reached out to Rich over 10 times asking for access to the accounts. This is why Bolt made his own accounts for our social medias.


Not only that. the PR team should be doing more than simply social media accounts. They do not have a budget, they do not handle customer relations. Stop comparing our sythe PR team to what regular people who are employed to do this.

 

I would just like to point out that given current events, this suggestion lures biased opinions which is totally unfair.

 

I think a strong and prevalent issue is, that due to the nature and product offering of this website, the concept of a PR team in general will rarely prove fruitful. To note, this is no fault of any members/leaders.

 

And that’s a fair point. Runescape’s social media is the same way. It’s not a “cool” game to play. They still have social media with somewhat success. Granted yes, I understand they have paid professionals to carry out those responsibilities, but we can still have some success. We started releasing videos about how to middleman, how to get a UID on discord which is excellent but stopped there. Hell, you could make a team *just* for YouTube videos. Even if there is limited user interaction, it doesn’t mean they don’t view it. I think it’s still a worthwhile effort to keep trying it.

 

I was in favor of a team merge when it was originally suggested a year ago. I do think having a PR team with little to no funds is part of the reason why it never really gets much done.

We have seen multiple phases of this team with competent leaders and still nothing much came from it and that is not a jab at anyone.

The social medias lack interest mainly due to what has already been mentioned, people don't want to link their private life to a black market site. These are seen as a free source of advertising, but when we have to supplement interest with purchased follows/likes/interactions, people notice that and I think it does more harm than good.

 

As far as I knew months ago Champ (before demotion and resignation) had wanted to personally merge CDT and PR idk what ever happened to that, but why can't they be merged in general? Both have goals of benefitting the community of Sythe so just do it...

While I want to support this, can anyone from the PR team tell the community what they have done for us? CDT has constant events that publicly displays their work. Before I pick my side, I'd like to hear some input from PR.

If we’re being real here, The only issue is the fun rank. Honestly, I don’t see a point in the rank being present, and this is coming from somebody who is actively trying to get on the PR team to contribute more to Sythe. Let’s TEMPORARILY get rid of the core issue here until PR can prove themselves to Sythe. This should be assessed later on by the community in a polling thread.

They do not drive traffic and the only
potential source of traffic I could see Sythe gaining from is the botting networks, and I don’t see them being very open to us coming and advertising on their forums. Why would they? We need new ideas and new thinkers willing to dedicate time to a big picture like a YouTube channel.

The only way I see a team like this being effective is like this:
In one sentence:
- TEMPORARILY get rid of the fun rank and purge useless members, and bring in big thinkers WITH UNQIUE IDEAS.

How it should be done:
- one or two people making the decisions while the members can contribute opinions and ideas.
- get rid of present members who simply cannot contribute(I don’t really know if there is anybody who isn’t, but from what other members have said, this is kind of an issue)
- bring in the big thinkers. Growing Sythe is not about the Instagram page or the Facebook page with 1000s of fake followers. It’s much more complicated and PR needs people who have unique ideas and are not afraid to execute them. Maybe even a team for social media, and a team for YouTube.
- look at previous attempts and how well they worked, and use statistics to judge how to move forward with the team. PR should really listen to what previous members / leaders have to say.
- GET RID OF THE FUNRANK UNTIL THE PR TEAM PROVES THEMSELVES.



Seriously, the PR team has potential, but it needs people who aren’t going to complain about the fun rank being gone.
1) Why do you care so much? Seems the only reason to defend the fun rank is for personal gain.

2) Losing it would not affect how you operate as a PR team member.

3) If you want to be on PR it should be about GROWING SYTHE, not growing your reputation.


Again, this isn’t directed at any PR team members, I’m friends with a couple of them, and inspire to be a member, but as it stands now, PR team is unfortunately not very effective, and they need to prove themselves

 

I think the idea of a merger seems fine consolidate the teams in essence they want the same things.

 

Only reason there is "complaint" about the funrank being removed, is because PR team is a community based team just like CDT and TC, which all have funranks.

This is correct, but why get rid of it ? it does not symbolize ANYTHING other than you're on a community team. If you believe it instills "trust" than you are mislead.

Who owns a business and is mooching off the PR rank? how does the PR rank grow your reputation?

Don't take other peoples word as food. All the members on the PR team are new to the team. We were all brought in and have no guidance or structure like the other teams.

We are looking for "big thinkers" but we are looking for people that are
#1 active on the site
#2 active in the community (participate in the community events)
#3 know how the community works and can help run events
#4 Can produce great content via Youtube and/or GFX

I think the bottom line here is that funranks are misleading and we should remove them all
Having a PR team isnt really a bad thing in itself, but if these ranks are being to assume authority over other users, they shouldn't come with the shiny badge.

What is PR doing in terms of member engagement?
What accountability is there for PR's lax behavior since inception?
What is being done/logged to provide measurable improvement/engagement?


The answer to this and many more is slim to none. Appears to just be a funrank for users that want it.

What did they do under Tyler? I'm genuinely wondering. I asked earlier and got zero responses so I'll try again. I fully support keeping PR here but I just want to know what they are doing / have done.
