[Already a rule]Remove already existing perks from DNT users

I'm not sure if this is a bug or this is meant to happen but I suggest we remove this

As you can see an OMM who is a DNT user still keeps their underlined username

I suggest the underline should be removed for OMM's who are DNTed, the reasoning behind this is it displays a false sense of trust. Not only that but on the discord, OMM is considered HIGHER than DNT essentially meaning that OMM users are still able to scam users who are not familiar with the platform.

To be clear, I'm not arguing that their perks should be taken away entirely, I am suggesting that their perks be restricted for the remainder that they're a DNT user for to prevent a false sense of trust from being spread.

Well I mean at the bottom of the forums, it displays how OMM's are represented:

Even though the user is a DNT, a newcomer may not notice the DNT as the OMM rank is above it on discord.

If a donator receives a DNT then they have their User Image removed but a more prestigious user such as an OMM can keep their perks even as a DNT which can ultimately allow them to scam more users based on how ranks are shown.

I don't feel the issue would be too difficult or time consuming to resolve, just make the DNT appear as a priority compared to the OMM rank

As for your reply for 'not worth Sythes effort to fix', I am not sure if you are representing the site or the user. If you are talking about the user, then I'm fairly sure an admin other than Sythe could fix this. If you are talking about the site, can you please expand more on that point as to why it wouldn't be worth the sites effort to fix due to it being a minor detail?

 

Anything that can lead to a reduction in potential scams is a good thing. Not to mention, perks should be removed until the case is resolved and DNT removed. Last but not least, this shouldn't take a lot of effort to implement.

 

now I do understand this, and I do agree with you, never said I didn't. If Sythe is willing to put the time into fixing this, I'm all for it.

 

I also did want to point out as well, just for another reason and for everyone else whose viewing this that it is incredibly easy for a newcomer to PM an OMM on discord too without even seeing the DNT rank (with the current system) on Discord

Should be easy enough to make the DNT’s perms over other perms, eh?

 

I could see it not being worth the time to fix it on the bottom but it not being updated on discord seems absurd.

 

@Management just a heads up, I've temporarily removed Astro from the OMM role on sythe until this is resolved, The OMM discord role has no pull, but I figured its for the best.

The OMM rank does not display when users are DNT - or any other ranks for that matter. And the underline is of no consequence.

 

Simple case of one perm being ranked higher than the other, I do agree though DNT perms should overrule all others regardless of rank (this should apply to staff as well in case they are DNT'd before their perms are removed)
Should be an easy fix!

 

That is great and I do appreciate it however I do have 2 things I would want to mention:

1) What do you mean OMM role has no pull, if a user wants an OMM and they are in the discord, are they not more likely to PM someone who is ranked as an OMM in the discord (provided someone is online) rather than searching around?

2) OMM's and rejoining. Astro was removed from the discord however when he joined back, the OMM rank was still displayed, what is to stop already existing OMM's from leaving and rejoining the discord to get their rank back and abuse their privileges?

 

I think you are looking too much into this. To somewhat quote richard "if somebody trades somebody with a dnt rank and get scammed they have no standing, we put it plainly in their sythe profile"

If your under the impression there are people who would be on the sythe discord who do not check sythe profiles or who do not request pms while trading. :/

 

Yes I am talking about users who don't request PM's with people who they trade with. Sure it is put plainly on their Sythe profiles, but to those users who simply check at the bottom of the page, see that an OMM has an underlined username and that they're an OMM then see they're ranked in the discord and go to trade them, the OMM can just simply invite the 2 people who need the OMM and just run off with their money.

I appreciate your response and I do believe you have a valid argument HOWEVER another potential flaw is that to the users who have used that OMM before and confirmed their UID are the one's who are less likely to request another PM due to the fact that they've already confirmed the identity of that user who is OMMing the trade. The thread says ALL discord proof's must include proof of the UID but it does not encourage the fact that users should request a discord PM for EVERY trade.

 

It is not worth developer time to waste on. Matthew and Shin are both really busy and have other major projects to handle such as UC7. This is an extremely minor issue.

This is time better spent elsewhere and considering the work that's been done so far (barely nothing) his time is very limited. Any retard can understand what "DO NOT TRADE" means and only the experienced Sythe users know what the underline mean and if by that time they don't understand what "DO NOT TRADE" means I think we've got a bigger problem.

 

Ok and what about the Sythe Discord where Official Middlemen are shown ABOVE DNT users? You do act like everyone is knowledgeable with Discord when that is not the case, in fact you even talked against trading on Discord in the past due to the amount of issues with it. I feel like a solution to the discord can be fixed, by making it so either DNT is shown above OMM OR to automatically disable people from being shown as an OMM when they've been given a DNT (so they can't rejoin to get their OMM status back)

 

It's even easier for us to manually remove "trust ranks" if a user has DNT, this is what our current system is. In theory we should be removing the trust rank at the same time the DNT is applied, so I apologize this was briefly missed here
