[Approved]Allow users to obtain scammers names on Sythe

allow users who meet the requirements of a major name change (or make this even a $300 exclusive reward) to obtain name changes of those who were perm banned for scamming.
note: user must have previous name change In order to meet criteria

-users must meet the major name change requirements
-users must pay back 100% of the banned members debt to be added to community repayment
-banned members name [and reports] be reverted back to previous name.

pros:
- motivation for banned members to come back to sythe
- Allows another donation perk
- more funds into community repayment which ends in more money in active users pockets.

cons:
- more work for staff to revert names
-possible google hits to scammer (personal risk) if you don't catch all the scanner threads

 

No support, I like to keep stuff name-and-shaming-ish. It allows us to identify scammers quicker and better, while having changed their names kinda makes it all tougher. We're already able to take inactive names, which is already a shame as is.

 

Add in a two-or-three-year wait per name-confusion and make it a $500 donation

Also, let's be real, it'll be more work for admins unless name changes get opened up a bit. Perhaps expand name-checks to globals and have admins review their conclusion to approve name changes.

but why not? no one remembers x user was scammed y user with this name z user would love to have + money can end up being dispersed to community members that were scammed.

Too much potential confusion for scam victims in the future

 

I know you want @Tony but I'm afraid I can't support this, theres too many potential issues with pardons for this to be implemented. Maybe one day Tony.

 

how exactly would it make pardons difficult if I may ask? no matter what approach I look at this from, it really comes down to whether or not the name be reverted to the old. there are various ways to solve that one minor issue, including the name change thread.

It would be up to the User requesting said name to take any risk.

 

What if they've never had another name before that?

 

itd be pretty safe to say that their name cannot be reverted, so being able to aquire an unchanged login name would not work. that would be complicated and and far too much work. This would only be a perk for users with previous name changes

 

I like it i assume staff side it ads more work with pardons i assume you would have to dig even more than i think @Wortel already does bless him but if they are willing to pay the money why not add as many ways as possible to support the site.

 

Worth noting that the banned account's name would just be changed to bannedname1, bannedname2, etc.

It wouldn't be hard to follow the account; it doesn't just disappear and adding a # to the original name is the process currently used for inactive accounts.

 

not a good idea because if someone is banned and they owed a debt like @Tony witch owes me $160 btc for scamming me like 2 years+ ago then i would wonder how he got unban for not paying his debt

 

When it comes to pardons, not all reports on the users are easy to find. Some are only "Username#123 scammed me" in the title with no profile link. So when someone is searching up a pardoning user, they might not come across these threads because of a name change. Its just extra work that isn't necessary.

 

realistically speaking, I've never come across anyone who'd want numbers in their name for a name change.

If someone scammed and got banned, the name should stay, the account should never move.

This is the simple most effective way to ensure the safety of all members doing future business in any community.

As soon as you release names to be taken, there is confusion.

I would support a mass opening of old inactive OG names which haven't been banned for scamming.

 

we have people who have scammed 10 years ago and haven't been back since. I think there is a point where the old names can he phased and released as the community ages as well

 

We have discussed this and it will be allowed for everyone presuming the following are met:

1. All scams of the banned user must be repaid
2. All other requirements are met
3. We reserve the right to deny any request for a banned user's name for any reason
