[DENIED] Stop allowing new members to donate large amounts

donate $100-300, look legit, exit scam, repeat

Honestly pretty easy formula that gets followed over and over again. Should make a unique post limit or join date requirement for large donations to partially prevent this, case in point @Muzy

 

It's up to individual members to use their judgement on what they see as trustworthy. We are not going to refuse people wanting to donate to the website to help us out.

 

It is sad that events like this happen, I'm a victim of the Muzy incident and fortunately I wasn't cleaned as a result. I would entirely be up for some sort of additional way to weed out scammers - although as Tyler has mentioned I don't think it is reasonable for sythe to refuse donations. This website works on donations, if that individual is willing to gamble $300 in donations to the website I profit from JUST to TRY and scam exit, let it be. Don't go first with more than you're willing to loose I guess

 

Actualy no support because if ppls trust 200-300$ donors without repuatiton with bills they are just morons and legit deserve to get scammed !

 

Idk, I don’t think everyone has malicious intent. So donating to the site for financial gain in your business (this is what I see as people with a higher donor status get more business) than it should be fine.

 

In Muzy's case, I decided to do increments </= his donor status. That way he was not profiting from my trade if he ripped me ;P

There is no way this will ever go through. User's are in charge of their own trading safety and Sythe can only do so much to facilitate it.

Yea that's never going to happen people should be able to donate whatever they want whenever they want.

 

No support. Just use common sense and get a MM.

 

The issue is even if you're doing increments, scammers will plan a huge scam quit meaning even if they're scamming you for $100, they might be scamming 3 others for a $100 as well which makes their donation well worth it.

If you have absolutely any doubts about a person, use an OMM/MM, that $5-$10 you pay for the trade will save you losing the full $100

 

Increasing user awareness by making more threads about the topic would be a better solution.

The problem is that new users tend to trust the donation status without considering the join date / post count and other factors, so more guidelines should be in place to determine how much u can trust the user.

 

Free market, blablabla. While the majority here are indeed ban evaders up to no good, this doesn't mean everyone was dropped on their head as a child. Denied.
