There is no ignorance in religion.

Yes, it is ignorant to hold onto formalities, ignorant to dissaprove in rationalized opinion, ignorant to believe that your religion is superior to others (Atheism being a religion). In the end, there is no ignorance in whether or not you believe in "God/gods/divine being".

Simply put, we have two kinds of people. Those that "think" they have the answers, and those that don't.

What am I? Agnostic. But, I'll tell you, I'd rather have been educated that death is a timeless orgasm. No, I don't think I'm going to hell, but I don't blame those who hold onto strong beliefs.

Since I see so many flames, I have created a few questions. Some for the religious(mostly Christian), some for the atheist.

1. If God made us all, why didn't he make us all believe in him? What makes you think, that your religious text, dating millenias after the first religious texts, are superior? I see no claims that a God/gods has ever written a holy text, the best argument of faith is that everyone who wrote it was influenced by the holy spirit. However, nothing stops me from taking Harry Potter, taking off the front page, calling it "The Holy Bible", and preaching about it in Africa.

2. What is the purpose of our essential existence? To reproduce until we no longer can? Be honest, would you be happier to have been educated "knowing" all the answers, never having to wonder what will happen to you 60 years down the line, as you sit on your death bed?

 

I love how everyone says that Atheism is a religion, it's like "yeah, you guys are just as irrational as we are."

 

Atheists are ignorant to believe that any sort of argument will overrule faith. You are ignorant by being here

First I am not atheist, I think there is no way to prove or disprove the existence of God so we shouldn't even argue about it.

There is nothing wrong with faith, we all have faith. We have faith that the sun will rise tomorrow, that our cars will work, that things will get better eventually. There is nothing wrong with these, but when you say "you should believe in Jesus Christ because 1 billion people have faith in him," then there is something wrong. No matter how many people you get to have faith in him, it will do nothing to change the state of his existence.

And I don't understand why I am ignorant for being here, I am engaging in intellectual discussion so by no means I am ignorant, and if you haven't noticed you are here also.

So basically if you think you are right with nothing to back you up then it is ok to try to tell other people and possibly convert them to your own belief? What if one billion people thought that it was right to kill black people?

 

Christians also thought it was once fine to kill Muslims.
