[DENIED] Story function

Deepen the Follower function with some user interactivity. It'd be fun to have an instagram-esque Story function where people can share their short clips and images for their followers to see by choice. Market individuals can gather followers and use it for extra exposure for advertising their methods, creating engagement, and promoting deals in a way that's only visible to people who care-- those who follow them AND click to start their Story feed. Social individuals can post their runescape or other game accomplishments and endeavors. Service providers can post teasers for their skilling or leveling. Staff could post omni-present stories to a Sythe Official feed that provides community outreach for contests and developments, news, promotions, or general fun.

It'd obviously only be visible at will, there should be a report button for inappropriate images just like any forum, mute button, and a collapsible button in case a user doesn't want any of the functionality in their browsing experience.

 

i imagine it would be expensive to run something like that. there would probably have to be some expensive servers to hold images and especially videos. but it would be good engagement between users and would provide a more personal connection. it would be def a nice idea, someone should make some visuals for it.

 

oh damnnnnn, i imagined it a totally different way. that's actually super super super dope. most people post ideas without visuals and visuals just make it so much better. i would totally support this. i just have a feeling it would be expensive to maintain but hopefully someone can let us know.

 

It may be, but I think it'd be worth the implementation if it was 1) used 2) noticeably improved the community of the forum as a whole. I imagine benefits such as CDT getting their contests out by sponsoring a Sythe Feed post, marketing giants using this to redirect traffic to their FORUM THREADS rather than the usual ad paradigm that redirects them off-site and thereby increasing market traffic and revenue, and staff themselves benefiting from pushing important notifications, news, and updates directly to people's browsing experience.

Not to mention, if this becomes widely used enough, paid ad space similar to instagram's current story structure can help support the expense. I'm not suggesting ads, but if it's deemed worth keeping, but funding is holding it back, I'd rather see the idea flourish with minimal ad interruption than rejected because big rich wouldn't want to fund it out of pocket.

Creative, I love the idea of it. I just don't think it has any relevance to the market what so ever.
A sythe snapchat group would do the job just as good, but people here value privacy for obvious reasons.

Well currently there’s two ways to advertise market ventures: free sig space, and paid ad space. This suggestion creates extra exposure opportunity the same way you see businesses using social media to boost their exposure. Keeping in mind that market participants DO network already: make friends, business contacts, etc., here’s a few scenarios:

1) a seller is putting on a limited time promotion that is available for people who follow them. They validate the follow by posting to their Sythe Story an image including the discount description as well as a offer code word.

This helps the seller by growing their network, thereby adding value to the sythe follow function because it’s providing additional influence for their business. As people learn of those exclusive deals, they also follow so they can benefit from the next deal, and so the influence grows.

2) a buyer has their network of supply from sythe users. These are usually healthy networks carried out on discord, but even still, they would have to message their multiple counter parts when they’re in the market to buy.

This provides a way to easily broadcast you’re in the market to buy in bulk again. A good transaction completes, buyer and seller follow each other for future business opportunities, and so their network grows.


Social media is a MAJOR tool in business advertisement and marketing, augmenting sythe’s “pseudo social media” provides the benefits of those kinds of marketing strategies while maintaining privacy away from personal social media like Snapchat.

 

I don't see this happening even though the idea behind it is nice.

This would most likely be abused, cause more clutter to the websites overall design, and reduce end-user ease of access/aesthetics.

You never have to look at the stories, and you should be able to hide them. Keep in mind, you’ll never see the content of someone’s story unless you click to start their feed

Do you intend this to be available for all users or are you thinking of making it a donor perk?

 

I'd say a tiered system makes most sense. Donors have full functionality, non-donors maybe get a certain number of Stories per day @Blaze

This won't be happening. I recall suggestions a similiar thing but it was quickly shutdown since after all we're a blackmarket with a community as a side thing of it, not the other way around. If people wish to socialize with each other they can easily add each other on Social Media or hell, even create their own Discord server which allows them to share stories and pictures - which is even easier to upload aswell. Thanks for the suggestion though.
