Tutorial island?

Hey i have just been drawing this picture up very rough (my excuse of been a terrible drawer) about 20 minutes (was watching tv at the same time and lost concentration like every 10 seconds) and im wondering what you think of it.

the trees would be palm trees like this

i am currently modelling this in 3ds max 2009
so far its coming together quite will and fast
but im useless at textures i need the following

models
- palm tree's (must be at least 3 different unique types)
textures
- water
- grass
- beach sand
- rocks
- dirt

i just want to see models first

 

We need a beginner area that shows story line and incorporates learning into that, not random shit.
Also it has to catch player interest, make in fun, exciting, and something that will just want them to keep playing.

 

No, just include extensive and easy to understand documentation so that players don't HAVE to redo tutorials every time they create a new account.

So that Would be great, a tut island before the storyline folds.

 

Have you done the RuneScape tut? This is nothing like it.

Also I think there should be a tutorial island, but have a way to skip it if you want. The tut island should start of the storyline with a nice little kick.

 

In my opinion, this is all about RuneScape, it's just taking all parts out of RuneScape and 'changing' it a little bit to not too much like RuneScape, but it still does. We should think of something unique

 

Fear, whens the last time you have done tut Island on RS?

edit : ANYBODY who has an idea of a tutorial island just make a rough design and i will model it for you

 

its not the drawing its just that i HATED tut island on runescape when i think its more fun to figure out stuff by yourself and get right into the action.

 

Well just the fact that there will be a tutorial island says enough.

it will be a new game

all that there would be on the island is you talk to a few people and they tell you some stuff tell you where you are etc.... then you go talk to a combat tutor or something and he tells you to punch a punching bag and stuff then he tells you how to equip weapons maby and then you go to a beach and sail of the the main land >.> because i played this new mmorpg that had no tutorial island and i was so confused i just got frustrated and deleted it >.>

Yeah, like adding a storyline or something. Like a small quest chain of telling what's happening and what happened before. And why you are there.

 

Begin worrying about a tut island when the game is actually made.
