    Setting - What When?

    I think this is an important aspect of the game to have determined toe setting of the game. Determining the time frame that the game is based in is a hard thing.

    So I think we need to suggest and decide on which would be best.

    Indeed they are. So why follow the crowd when you can contribute to something new? Perhaps something that's not set in medieval times. There is not an MMORPG set in the year 3030 or in 3000BC..

    Place it in Roman Empire Times. :D... that would be interesting o_O.... but if we had diffrent races like elves then time would not be a problem, since its really a time we create....

    If anyone thinks they have a good setting and place for a particular part of the game draw something up and post it here.

    1376- 1450 Would be a suitable time what do you guys think? If it was placed in rome or Europe as its know today there could be a few things to work with.

    I think we should try to have an advancing system where characters will advance in a series of this sort:

    Medieval -> Present -> Future
    (this is a very rough example)

    Also, I think we should try to deviate from what is typical of games- red, fiery landscapes with lava spewing out of endless rocks, etc. Yuck.

    From reading polls in the World of Warcraft sections, it appears that pleasant, sunny landscapes with exotic trees and such are favored over red, volcanic landscapes.

    I think we should also try to incorporate some more snowy landscapes, as these really are impressive and give the game a nice feel.

    Very nice, though if Rome was picked. I'm sure the Swiss alps between Switzerland and Italy could be used well ;D

    I is glad you liked my rome idea. Maybe depending on which class or race you are it will make you start in a diffrent spoot. :O

    Meh - I dont want this game to turn too much of a grind feast, or anything similar that resembles those cash whoring communities out there.
    Ie - games such as silkroad, the concept of this game should stray away from that.
    Despite the game being an MMORPG, its really difficult NOT to make it boring.

    On topic - Cold Siberian climate, you are a Russian/Viking Warrioir who's family has been slain by a enemy tribe.
    You have all been against war and violence, but this was the last straw. you become skilled in 2 classes - a fighting class and a money making/aiding class
    such as smithing, woodcutting, mining, fishing,
    After learning the main classes to a particular level (there are boundaries - you can only achieve MAX in the calss you chose) you can level up to advanced classes.

    Same for fighting classes - you chose a brawling/throwing basic. Once you masters your chosen skill and got to the max of the secondary skill - you can unlock a new class - hand to hand/range fighting. etc

    you advance etc and unlock new areas... because they are bound to levels

    the climate changes and there is night and day.... and a different clock - 1hr = 24hours in sythe game.

    idk. lol. you become a bloodthirsty warrioir, forgetting the vendetta for your family, hook up to clan and enjoy pvp ^_^

    just remember the sotry line of that mel gibson film in the usa >< forgot name

    I wouldn't mind Greek, it has a nice feel to it. The architecture is very nice.

    If we were to do Greek, then would there be Greek gods?

    I was thinking maybe something like the setting and such of the Zelda series..

    Somewhat midevil/fairytale at the same time, but leaving out some of the thing in other games.

    i think a present time MMORPG would be cool seeing there isn't any and maybe even future but I think more people would play in rome it's easier to make fun, or make a disaster depends how you spin it.
