We recently came across Chronicles of Elyria and its mysterious twist and mechanic - your character eventually dies, and by using a Spark of Life, you are able to be born again in a different character whilst retaining all your learnings, growth, and stats.

And if you die, you lose 2 days of your overall life. The premise is both interesting and dangerous.

We talk about our preview thoughts here and what sets Elyria apart from other MMOs:

Would love to see how the age/reincarnation accumulation of the character interacts with the rest of the MMO, as a reincarnation/deaths are already how most games are (you either lose everything or nothing RS vs WoW) I’m sure this game is looking for a happy medium.

Actually, sounds pretty intriguing. Feels a bit isekai, but still!

Likewise. I'm also curious about how you impact the world you leave; on a more personal focus, all your stats and "learnings" are retained, but how about the world you left? For example, in terms of mining, if you've focused on a particular cave or area, would your next character be proficient in that same cave or area? Not sure if I made sense, but that's basically it haha.

Wow, I know my anime but isekai is a new term. I'm so outdated! Haha. Yeah, now that you mention it, it feels pretty much like it. I just hope there are no effects in real life haha.

Yeah, it used to be called fantasy, but most of them are isekai - "another world" now. Pretty popular thanks to pioneers like .hack/sign SAO(well, not exactly a pioneer, but the founder of this term's popularity)
