Allow us to display more than 4 fun ranks

Sythe has evolved from the days where fun ranks, and usergroup based ranks were few and far between, so we must change with the times.


There are users who are limited by the amount of ranks they are able to display, mainly because you cannot hide any user group ranks, and if you have 4 or more user group ranks you cannot change any at all because the system wont let you.

Below is a list of potential ranks (keep in mind there are 66 unique ranks overall not including custom donor ranks)

• Technical Core team
• Community Development team / Leader
• Public Relations Team / Leader
• Sectional (can have multiple ranks) / Global / Administrator / Retired moderator
• General Fun ranks, of which multiple are given out each year
• Highly Trusted / Highly Respected
• Competition Winner
• Donation Fun rank/ Custom Donor rank
• Official middleman / Head middleman
• Graphics artist / Various Programmer ranks

For each category (because obviously you cant be sectional, and global for example) A user could theoretically have 10 fun ranks at a time. Obviously this isn't the case in actuality, but we already have multiple users who do not have the ability to show all of their ranks, because of the 4 rank limit.

 

I'm still confused about how to get a fun rank. .

Oh right, Yeah this suggestion 100% makes sense if you got to earn them. What is the point in earning them or Winning them if you can't display them? Thanks a bunch, Going to read through it fully now.

Good suggest and looking out for a member who spends time winning/earning them! go Tyler! Support for the hard-working guys who earn these.

 

Sure why not, I'd say increase to cap to like 6 or 7, there's room for it, so why not allow people to have them visible.

 

i see room for one, maybe 2, more before you cut into minirank space. might have something to do with the layout. maybe @Matthew can better answer this

 

I agree. I missed that one of the admins was also an OMM simply because they didn't have room to fit all of their ranks.

Good suggestion.

One problem I can see is that if some people have smaller screens. The site code would need to be edited so it doesn't get chaotic when it is detected that the screen is too small to display them all. Even now, when I shrink my window size, stuff starts overlapping and causing problems.

 

no support, in my eyes no one should even HAVE 4 funranks when there are many eligible sythe users with none.

Pretty sure I've seen this suggestion before from you. Twice if memory serves.

What was the previous denial reasons? I know I've seen this 10+ times from plenty of different people.

If you want to pass this I'd like to know if it was an technical issue preventing more or another reason.

This could easily be worked into UC 7 by @Matthew either just as something to add or a potential perk.

Awaiting to hear the previous reasons more ranks are not shown currently before supporting though.

 

also if this gets accepted then the minirank limit should be increased as well. I have more minis than im allowed to show!

 

even if i donated more id have over 30. my point is just like theres people with more fun ranks over the limit, the same can be said with miniranks.

 

I think 4 should be pleanty enough to say enough about who you are.
As mentioned if there are more available with donating, then there is that to.
You need to have some type of perks, this is a good perk to have with donation.

 

If there is a way to make them appear nicely then sure. However, they take up a lot of room, as ABM said, and can look pretty messy if there are too many imo. Coming from someone with zero :angel:

 

Honestly I don't care. My personal preference would be no because I think it'd be pretty ugly but if it can be done without it being an eye sore I see no reason why not. This is something that 100% would be up to Richard so I'll run it by him before we get ahead of ourselves.

 

Support we should be able to display as many ranks as we want the more the better I see no point in them being hidden.
