    The bump timer wasn’t enabled for those forums. When new forums are created, they have to be configured for bump timer. I’ve configured them now. If any other forums are missing the timer, feel free to let me know.

    When changing avatar it uploads and replaces the old one as soon as the upload completes. Instead, it should show a preview of what it's going to look like and give the user the option to press cancel and revert to the old avatar.

    @Sythe please check this out, many users are experiencing the same problem, uploading certain gif avatars that are within the guidelines seems to be down for a lot of users

    So this was actually an interesting problem

    As per ImageMagick thumbnailImage Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded the issue is a long standing timing bug (race condition) in ImageMagick's multithreaded image processing.

    Our servers were recently patched with the most recent kernel patches for meltdown/specter which most likely has caused the timing of thread execution to change slightly making this bug come out of the woodwork.

    Solution for now is to limit gif image processing to a single thread per user. This does mean uploading a gif avatar may take up to 30 seconds and if your gif is particularly heavy it may not process at all. If you do experience this I suggest resizing it first with another tool before attempting to upload it.

    Xenforo offers two ways to process images: php's built in GD functions or ImageMagick. The built in GD functions do not process animated gifs. So this limited version of ImageMagick is the only option for now. It's possible I could write a custom solution if it remains an ongoing issue.

    I managed to upload the spinny boi above just now so it seems to be working. Let me know if it works for you.

    These three still won't upload, they're within the 1mb file size limit and within size constraints. Only trend I am noticing is gifs with larger animation time/more frames won't upload. This avatar at the bottom did end up uploading for me, and only has about a 1 second loop time where as the avatars above have a 2-4 second loop time.

    I'm guessing it is a site technical limitation to have 2-4 second loops?

    Edit: Got it to work by removing every second frame and slowing down speed to 50% to not give people seizures :p
