[Denied] Suggestion: Allow Scammers to be Doxed

I'd like to suggest that doxing of scammers be allowed, in cases where there is sufficient proof.

I recently made a thread which can be found here:
    bo_burnham/Mike Stinger Dox (Impostor/Scammer)

This thread provided all corresponding evidence that would link RoIex#0923 (my impostor) to his real life identity. Unfortunately, my post was edited and the pictures and address of the scammer were taken out.

After someone was scammed by my impostor again today, I thought it was necessary to make this thread. For a forum that deals with scams so frequently, I believe this would be one way to make a safer trading environment by publicly shaming the scammers. Having an anonymous identity online is something that many take advantage of. Even if a handful of scammers stopped their actions after seeing dox's posted, it would prove to be beneficial.

I'd like for this suggestion to be taken seriously and I encourage others to post their unbiased opinions on the matter.

Are you people retarded? I'm going to assume there's some sort of website error going on and this is showing up in "suggestions" when it was actually posted in the Spam Forum by mistake.

You people are not considering the damage that can be brought onto someone's lives / people they live with. Scamming is in no way right but attacking someone irl is dangerous and you have zero control of someone else online deciding to swat someone and possibly getting that person killed / the same done to their family.

I understand the argument but no support, scamming is a scummy thing to do and doxing people is a scummy thing to do. This isn't a blackhat forum, how about we don't turn it into one.

Clearly you're the one who's retarded. My suggestion is to post the dox, not take any actions.
People have no reason to swat others if they weren't directly involved. If they were involved and wanted to swat you, finding your dox themselves wouldn't be an issue.

I'm not sure you know what the world blackhat means. Doxing is not blackhat in any way, as it does not break any laws.
Doxing a scammer is not scummy. It's the equivalent of hiring a private investigator to finding out who robbed your home.

Privately I don't care, I don't think their info should be public.

Good point, but 99% of doxing is done using public databases.

Also, all I'm proposing is that the dox itself be posted. Whatever is done with the dox is the business of the individual.
However, it's unlikely that anyone would actually use a dox, as they put themselves at risk. The only function would be to just shame the scammer.

I suppose the FBI's most wanted fugitives should have their names and pictures removed publicly too, right?

If you hurt someone in any way, whether it financially or physically, you should face consequences.

Posting the dox is just as bad, you have zero control over what other people do with your info. Accused of being a scammer? Let's ring his family and order pizza deliveries. Accused of being a sex attacker? Let's go to his house with baseball bats or with a knife and attack whoever opens the door. Given an online individual's address when actually someone else lives there? Let's swat them.

Point is you have no control over what other people will do with said information. I am not saying don't punish a scammer, certainly call them and give them shit (not threatening their life), certainly call their family and let them know what they've been up to online. Calling their university / workplace is quite extreme but any sane person would probably pay back at this point to make sure their career or whatever doesn't get messed up.

A private investigator does not post personal information online for the public to see. They are generally hired for cases of finding out if your partner is cheating or minor things like this. A PI would likely advise you to "go via the correct channels" as opposed to dumping it online and being at the mercy of whatever nutcase comes across it.

Those individuals are people who have been investigated and are 100% confirmed to be a threat or have committed serious crimes against the state. Their mugshots do not get posted on the FBI website off "accusations" and online drama, they get posted for serious shit.

Here's my problem with it. I agree they should face consequences, but this would make us no better than them.

Lets say I was someone who was fine with extorting people, and here is this list on Sythe.org of people and all their personal information, where they work, etc. I can now start calling them, harassing them, calling their work, etc. to extort money out of them. I have no doubt someone would use the information for that purpose.

If the scammer were to refund, they could have their dox taken down. It ultimately comes down to whether a person values their personal information over money.

But if a scammer isn't willing to refund the money they scammed, what makes you think they will give into paying someone whos extorting or blackmailing them?

High school: Remember kids, don't do drugs or drink alcohol, don't break the law, all go to University and live successful lives.

Saying "don't do this and X won't happen" is not as simple, this is not a school, people have different circumstances in life (not that scamming is right, but people will have different reasons for what they do).

You do realize that in an online marketplace where you can scam and get away with it, people will do so?

The point of this thread is to implement consequences for scamming.

Hopefully you aren't pursuing a degree in legal studies.
