[Guide] Using FileZilla (also an FTP guide)

    1. First go get yourself an FTP address; a free one is www.byethost3.com
    2. Get yourself a nice free FTP client, such as FileZilla (Download at http://filezilla-project.org/)
    3. Open FileZilla, and at the top type in the information that you either set or was given to you (on byethost3 your information should look something like this:)

    HOST: ftp.byethost3.com
USERNAME: The CPanel username that was given to you
PASSWORD: The password that you set when you registered
    PORT: This is usually 21

    4. Then once you are connected to your FTP server, to add files you browse for the file in the explorers to the left then drag and drop the file into the folder you want in your FTP (could be a folder called httpdocs, www, or in the case of byethost3 it's htdocs). If you make extra folders within the web folder of your FTP, you'd navigate to them like so:

    websitename.domain/foldername/file.extension

In the case of byethost3, it would be [username].byethost3.com/[foldername]/[file].[extension].
To set a homepage for your website, place an "index.html" or "index.htm" file in your web root folder (htdocs, httpdocs, www, etc).

Your website works like any other website - You can add PHP and HTML files, post downloads, even upload your very own forums :D

i would highly reccomend smart ftp over filezilla. easier to use, better developed, etc. yes the ftp port is always 21 unless it is ssl ftp which is 22
