Why are so many ex-staff members banned for scamming?

I've been browsing through some old threads and many ex-admins and ex-mods were notorious scammers.

 

Why? Because they scammed. Why did they scam? Because clearly some peoples childhood instincts were acting up, years later.

 

Most of them were scammers? I thought they just SRB'd tbh.

Why would anyone purposefully request a ban?

 

After being a staff member for many years most people who retire want to get away from the forum; easiest way is SRB.

 

A lot of the older ones were hacked, database leaks from different sites over the years etc means that eventually old emails & accounts aren't secure anymore.

 

Yeah as far as I've heard most of them weren't scammers. They were hacked because they left their accounts inactive for months/years on end. The more responsible ones therefore requested a ban so that their accounts wouldn't hurt anyone after they leave.

If someone is done with a certain site people will finess alot of people to go out with a big chunk of money. It's not only on here, this is a common thing that happends on alot of sites

 

There's been countless corrupt staff (e.g Sindrefyrn) over the years & scammers (Pen, Bring Me The Horizon) , folks banned in drama (Spyike, Draucia) and there has been exploits. (Shinoda, MegaMatt, Snow Patrol, Moonglare) I was a victim to one, and my password was never changed so go figure, there are loopholes in the system. Better get your 2FA sorted if you haven't. Lots of folk are banned.

 

I'll tell you one thing there's been more staff pulling scams / faking scams than getting hacked.

@Karl isn't banned but is a prime example of a complete scumbag, was Global for years, did a lot of staff work and ended up owing @Arcus Isidar a load of money and never ended up paying it back. He stills pops up in the spam forum from time to time saying he's "busy with life", must be working a pretty shit job to not have earned enough to pay the debt back yet.

 

Something you've said I agree with, how times change.

DNT has given scum the opportunity to get hated even more, that's a bonus I guess.
